I mean realistically speaking 4d would kinda look like how you made the mess. In our perspective, 4d would look like hot garbage but any 4d craetures with 3d retinas would see it as normal terrain. Same goes to 2d. If you were a 2d creature with a 1d retina, you'd see it as if it was 3d.
