  • Hemostasis is the process which stops bleeding after an injury. Blood vessels are repaired by the creation of a platelet plug during primary hemostasis, and the platelet plug is further reinforced by the conversion of fibrin to fibrinogen during secondary hemostasis. Created by Gricelda Gomez.

Health & Medicine on Khan Academy: No organ quite symbolizes love like the heart. One reason may be that your heart helps you live, by moving ~5 liters (1.3 gallons) of blood through almost 100,000 kilometers (62,000 miles) of blood vessels every single minute! It has to do this all day, everyday, without ever taking a vacation! Now that is true love. Learn about how the heart works, how blood flows through the heart, where the blood goes after it leaves the heart, and what your heart is doing when it makes the sound “Lub Dub.”

Noo! First step to stop bleeding is vasoconstriction from vascular spasms - then platelet plug formation. This is not advanced at all and is skipping steps. :/ usually khan academy is a lot better than this.

May I suggest you go to buy a textbook to details. Once you finished the video here, those video can help you understand the text book

It would be great to learn about hemostasis and not fun facts about blood vessels.

moral of this story: platelets plug, then fibrin...Where is the entire clotting cascade? how about fibrinolysis and endothelial repair? This might help with a high school anatomy class, but not the level Khan is known for...go into the details...
