You said it yourself. Ds1 and Lobos are just a perfect match. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you're able to play whatever game you want and have an audience, but really all your Souls playthroughs are comfort viewing for me. Thanks for all the entertainment you've provided, dude.
i honestly wish lobos, assuming he wanted to, would just load up games like ds123 or bloodborne and just do a normal run every now and then, its so comforting to watch.
These kinds of "challenges" were my start in challenge runs in general. After this I did no armor then, later, a no upgrade weapon run. Never really went further than that. I realized challenge runs weren't for me. I have beaten several bosses in DS and DS3 fist only.
DS1 just never looses it's magic, no matter how many times I beat the game, if I'm bored and don't know what to play, I can just boot up DS1 and know I'll have a good time

This year has been a great year so far for gaming and the last half so far has been too and looks to get better. At the beginning we had about 10 damn good games. Over the few months we've had diablo 4, which everybody liked at first and the updates have made it worse and remnant 2, baldurs gate 3 and ff16, which are all great games. And next we have blasphemous 2, armored core 6, starfield, lies of p, mortal kombat 1, the new assassins creed which I hope is back to its roots, lords of the fallen, spider man 2, alan wake 2, a remake of super Mario rpg and avatar frontiers of pandora which looks pretty good but is probably a stretch bc it probably won't be any good. There also a few indie games that look good besides blasphemous. One is called the last faith which looks a lot like blasphemous. There is way too many games to play over these next 4 months.
Dark Souls always reminds me that IMHO, Dark Souls was never like, actually hard; the enemies and animations are super slow, the AI is so limited/simple and you as a human are just faster and smarter and can just get out of the way of everything or block. I never got the hype/rage etc. If you play BloodBorne, Elden Ring, Nioh 2, and then go back to Dark Souls, it seems like "baby's first Soulslike" and its soooo easy. That said, I guess when DS came out, it was 'new' so it was less difficult, and more unknown/confusing or whatever.
I'm glad people have enjoyed the growth of the series, but for me personally, I think it's reputation of difficulty has both done it a disservice, and kept anything from surpassing DS1 for me. This game is my fidget spinner and Anti-Anxiety medication when life seems really hard, because it's less about reflexes and more about experience. Something I try to relate to life, it's okay to fail until you get the hang of something and it eventually becomes another form of therapeutic activity.

Its faster than DS which I like - DS is way too slow for me - but still feels kinda simple and limited in scope and the enemies aren't too smart or have stupid input reading endless combos or whatever. Also you don't really need to look too far for anything or spend ages getting anywhere etc. so you can totally switch off. The graphics are just good enough not to look too dated, the music is great, the level design is good, the overall "mood" is S tier. Especially towards the end.

Agreed, DS1 just oozes atmosphere. I'll also say that DS1 is more fun than ER (it's also more fun that DS2 and DS3). My only complaint about DS1 Remastered is the replacement bonfire visuals. I mean ..... why do that? The 'snake line' flames of the original bonfire just added to the atmosphere, and to replace that with a 'generic fire effect' was a terrible decision.

I love that DS1 had different identities for every stat. Dex builds always felt/played differently to strength, etc.
