    Thank you, Becky, for this comparison. I think you're the only one that compared them or at least I didn't see anyone else comparing these 2 together. I was thinking of getting one of these sets but wasn't sure which one was better. I have Derwent Graphitints so I will get the Sumiundo. I love your Ned Kelly painting. The colours look great! Yay, Ned Kelly! Great choice of subject! I didn't know about his bucket helmet, that's funny! Wow, the two sets are so similar. In case no one else said it, the Boko Undo set gets its "shadow" from sumi ink, which is probably why it spreads so quickly in the water and why it doesn't granulate as much as the graphite set. I have the Boko Undo set because I saw everyone on TH-cam playing with them, and me want the pritty! But -- like all novelty sets, I don't really know what to do with it, and I've never really used them. I now prefer to enjoy these things vicariously through youtube. Also- I see someone else mentioned that you can use the back of a spoon to polish the graphite. An expert tip I learned from watching youtube!

    • @BeckyTregear
      @BeckyTregear  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd definitely agree that they're kind of novelty sets for the most part, but I do still really like them and they are great for monochromatic art. Plus of course, the pretty factor! 😂

    Nice review of these and great drawing and story telling. I think the reason they aren't filled to the top is to prevent spillover. At least That's what I think because of using a little set I have and the need to use quite a bit of water to activate. It's actually a good thing and I wish other watercolors would use deeper but less full pans like this as there's always unintentional contamination.

However, most Americans don't own guns, and most Americans who do own guns have only one stashed in a drawer somewhere for just in case. My sister had to go sit through some drawers the other day to find theirs. The arsenal owning, second amendment spouting, playing soldier in the woods on weekends, "civilization is about to collapse" phobic, gun nuts are the minority but they're very vocal and they own a lot of weapons.

    They’d cost three times what they do if they filled these pans to the top. And almost everyone buys kuretake for the price point.

      I've got an older video on the Graphitint pencils, but I haven't compared these head to head. One of these days I'll review the graphitint pans, which is on my to do list, lol.
