    I'm so sad to hear your terrible experience, I'm a cast member at disneyland Paris, we met at the newport buffet last year, I'm Bénédicte you mentioned me in your video, anyway, I live at 10 min walk from the holiday inn and if I had seen your help message I would have come right away! I hope you're okay, take a rest and don't let this bad experience take away the confidence you have to travel alone. I send you lots of love and your mom reacted very well by calling the reception. ❤️

    Quick note to highlight the fact that the banging only started once the woman realised I have a PHOTO of the card given to her by the staff member -
    This proof is also most likely the reason the staff member admitted about giving the card, both to my friends AND to the police.
    Also, little recap to say:
    1. The staff member in question has been fired.
    2. His friend "Kate" has been banned from the property.
    3. The reason I didn't need to call the police that night, was because my friends responded fairly quickly and were able to come help me leave. Unfortunately, the nearest police station open at that time was half an hour away - calling them that night would have made my escape journey a LOT longer. I wanted to get out of there asap, and thankfully my friends were able to come within 10 minutes. Had I not gotten a response from my friends, my plan was to call the police as soon as I had another hotel to go to - and I would advise anyone travelling solo who has no one in the area to inform police immediately. They may take ages getting to you at that time of night, but they can at least stay with you on the phone and find ways to keep you safe before they arrive. My priority that night was GETTING OUT OF THERE.
    I have since talked to several French locals, including professionals in the area, who have confirmed that calling the police that night would've unnecessarily prolonged the ordeal.
    4. A big lesson I learnt as a solo traveller, which might be worth sharing, is to write down details of ALL police stations local to wherever you're staying when travelling. Whilst I knew the general police number for France, I didn't know any of the more local numbers, and was actually shocked to find out only ONE police station nearby was open at that time of night - nearby being still 30 minutes away. I think it's also worth booking your stays in an area that has 24 hour police service nearby in case of emergencies. This particular hotel's location was quite remote - I'm sure hotels closer to Disneyland Paris have more police stations open all night.
    5. Thank you for the overwhelming love and support. I'm doing much better now professionals have dealt with the situation. I'm also getting help to deal with the trauma for future travels. Much love x

    This was for sure a human trafficking ring. Thank goodness you’re safe.
    For your viewers who travel alone, NEVER tell anyone you’re alone or open the door to an one without clear proof of who they are. They’re are a lot of TH-cam videos about how to respond to questions when travelling alone. So glad you’re safe!❤

      @@Sam4G0d Sam! Super glad you're safe! This whole incident seems like a scam. Actually, I'm pretty certain it is considering it consists of one of the oldest tricks in the books which is leaving a personal item and having an excuse to get into the room again to steal while "searching" and then accusing you of stealing said item. The other person involved will threaten to be the witness if you don't pay them up. Rest assured that this couldn't have been a human trafficking ring. Traffickers don't pose with their victims and never, ever operate in front lines. This was 100% a money grab. I hope you're okay now. This thing is terrible but what's important is that you've done the smart thing updating your mom and friends. Sending you lots of love xx

      I must say I am shocked by reading here multiple times about people trafficking.... this is completely new to me..when you hear human trafficking you think of illegal immigrants or people living on the streets who are being exploited..I did NOT know that tourists in a hotel could become a victim..do you actually mean that they would kidnap guests from hotels?..I also see too much the good in people, this is really a wake up call for me!

      I actually agree with this it sounds like a human trafficking scam or something along those lines. I think police need to investigate that whole hotel with the weird smells there could be like a dead body or something somewhere. Might sound far fetched but the whole situation is incredible creepy and terrifying! I think they are somehow involved together. I would have felt the same as you that’s so awful I’m sorry you had to go through something like this!

    Sorry about you story. This ear ring trick is a known one to every detective. She would return , trying to find an ear ring and then convince that you tried to steal it. The guy would be then asked to be a witness and they would try to convince you that you would get into jail, but some amount of money or camera would solve it. And if you now sitting at home would think:” hey , let them try!” It will not be the way how would you feel when pushed by professionals like this overly energetic girl. These guys know people psychology know that you are aline, tired and vulnerable and the already passed your barrier by “helping you out”.
    It’s really great that you got friends that helped you out. I would not hope that French police would do anything, but kicking the guy out of would be already an achievement and help to other guests

    Omg Sam, I am so sorry this happened to you and I am glad you made it out ok. The story literally gave me chills and reminded me of stories we hear on TV. I immediately thought of human trafficking when hearing your story, as other comments also mentioned apparently. It is NOT NORMAL for a hotel staff member to give a full-access card to ANYONE. As someone who worked in a hotel as a housekeeper, I was bound to keep my card for myself and only use it myself. I wasn’t allowed, in any case, to open the door to a guest or another colleague, let alone give the card to anyone.
    Tips for solo travellers (or any travellers really):
    - Always lock the door from the inside. You can also buy small doorstops on the internet for more safety
    - When going away, always put your expensive belongings in the safe if there is one
    - Note the emergency numbers somewhere (in France, 17 for the police, 112 for any emergency)
    - Always get someone to know your location as Sam did, share your travel plans with trusted people
    - Consider travel insurance if you have the means
    - NEVER tell someone you are travelling alone, always say that you know or that you are going to meet friends or family
    - Always check the ratings of the place you’re considering staying in (number of ratings is important, the more the better, check for the more recent comments, check numerous rating websites)
    - This might sound weird, but if you are a solo traveller, getting back to the hotel at a late time, please come back sober lol
    - Always pay attention to those around you, trust your intuition. If it doesn’t feel right, leave or get help
    - Be polite. Sam did it very well, and it served her cause, because there is nothing more scary than the person bothering you being offended and getting angry. You don’t know what that person is capable of
    That’s all I can think about for now but there are pleeeenty of other tips you can find out on the internet
    Sam, I really hope this doesn’t happen again and I hope this wasn’t too big of a trauma ❤ Thank you for sharing your story, as I think it will definitely get people to be more cautious

    This sounds absolutely terrifying Sam (like I said on insta you think you can trust a brand name like Holiday Inn). That guy on reception is 100% running a scam with that woman, the staff card 100% points to something untoward! 😢
    The fact that she was able to bang on your door so much and not wake another guest is VERY telling about how empty this place was. You’d probably have been safer at the f**king train station than in that hotel. So so SO glad you had people to help you, and thank you for raising awareness - as a solo traveller this is my worst nightmare.

    Sam,
    I usually never comment on youtube. I believe as scary as this situation was you were used to bring awareness to all of the solo travelers out there. Human trafficking is very real and happening more than ever right now. I am so happy you are safe and pray this doesnt stop you from traveling and making videos. Your videos have helped me and my family plan our disneyland trips which I am grateful for ❤
    I posted a review under the hotel to help bring awareness about the whole situation whether it was human trafficking or thieves looking to break into peoples room to steal things considering she had an access card. I pray they are caught and justice is served because sadly by the sound of it this may not have been the first time.

    That's so scary, i'm just so glad you had some friends to help you out, and the people at the other hotel sound supportive. When you first mentioned the woman i thought she just sounded like she needed psychiatric help, which would be scary but could be viewed as innocent (but scary) but then she left three different things in your room which is not at all innocent. And the actions of the guy are terrifying, giving out an access card to all the hotel rooms and asking if you were alone, it's frightening to consider what might have happened. I travel alone a lot and would have not been at all worried about staying in a brand hotel like Holiday Inn, i'd pick that over a local hotel that I might not know about. I'm so pleased that you're safe.

They probably targeted you, placed you on a floor with no one else there. Sent the friendly girl to gain your trust. A girl who loved killing spiders 😮 and maybe tourists on the side. I’m guessing that smell in the walls could have been the last guest. Silly of her to take photos with you, so you have it to show the police. Take care of yourself, and PLEASE seek help if this is affecting you mentally. Sending love!

    I was once nearly robbed at a hotel in the Val d’Europe area back in Summer 2019. My parents and I were staying at this hotel and everything was going fine for most of the trip, and then one day we came back to our room from spending the day, and the room door was unlocked! (I always check to make sure the door is locked before I leave) Thankfully nothing was taken, but the room was ransacked with the trash bag that was set up on the ground being tossed on the bed! And this one closet door was opened and a small shopping bag that was there was tossed out, but the bag was locked, so it wasn’t taken. The whole experience was insane and I was so upset. I remember one staff-member went to check the electronic locks for the history, but that was done the day after and I can’t remember what he told us. The weird thing was was that our room was the only one unlocked, no other rooms on the floor were unlocked and ransacked like ours was.
    When we changed rooms, the really weird, and kinda insensitive thing the hotel did was leave an ice bucket full of bottled juices in our room, which I didn’t drink, because I didn’t trust it. I understand the gesture why they did that, but personally, they could’ve given us some coupons or tickets to Disneyland or something like that, and certainly not leave it in the room like that after having experienced a disturbance in our hotel room prior. Suffice to say, I never stayed at that hotel or any hotel in the overall Marne La Vallee area.

    Sam - such a horrendous experience. A few observations...
    I) Your mum sounds amazing;
    ii) That whole situation sounds pre-planned, and has very possibly happened before;
    iii) Your mum sounds incredible;
    iv) IHG owe you a full and formal apology, a VERY full explanation as to what they've done to resolve this horrendous and unsafe employee;
    iv) This deserves a criminal investigation;
    v) Thank goodness for your amazing local friends. I can imagine the sense of relief you must have felt when they arrived at your door was palpable.
    vi) Your mum sounds like an absolute superstar.
    So much support to you

    It’s interesting that he was trying to resolve the situation there at the end in hopes of not having a complaint filed. With everything happening of course you would’ve filed a complaint after your stay but prior to that moment where your friends arrived, he didn’t care, almost as if they could act however they wanted as you wouldn’t be around to file a complaint - if that makes sense? It’s screaming human trafficking.
    Edit: if you were ever to find yourself in this position again but had no one around who could come get you, the one option you have is to Instagram live everything as you are leaving the hotel. It isn’t guaranteed to have the same effect as a real life friend, however since they knew you had a following, they would know that an Instagram live would garner several watchers, and make sure to record the culprits too, even under the guise of “and this is the hotel lobby at the *insert hotel name*”. Obviously a real person is ten times better, but if you’re out of options and need to just get out of there, this would add an element of safety.

    Solo female traveller here. I’ve learned to just trust my gut and stand my ground. I was at a hotel near Disneyland Paris and as soon as I got to my room, I just didn’t feel comfortable. I went to reception and my worries were sort of laughed off as if I was just being stupid. The reaction of the receptionists made me go back to my room, pack my bags and leave without even knowing what hotel I was going to next. To make it worse, I had a scary experience at the bus stop next to the hotel. One of the worst panic attacks I’ve ever experienced but I’m so glad I listened to my gut in the end, stood my ground to avoid the scam at the bus stop and just left to somewhere safer.

    We were staying at Torcy at our disneyland trip. One night a woman began banging at our door and yelling at french (which we did not understand).
    we called the reception and they did come after 10 min and ask her to leave us alone.
    We did not get an answer as what this woman wanted. only an explanation that for charity some nights they let homeless people stay in the hotel and she is one of them.
    Since then I only stay at the known disney partner hotel.
