my favorite BJ Thomas song. I almost cry everytime I hear it. my late wife used to sing this to the kids when they were babies. this and "you are my sunshine" really take me back to late 70's/early 80's when she and I were barely 20 and starting our family. Miss ya hon, see you soon.
My best friend's aunt took us to see BJ Thomas in 7th grade. It was my first concert. I will still stop what I'm doing to hear his voice. Try "Hooked On a Feeling."
BJ Thomas had a beautiful voice. It is music like this that saved lives as it did mine. At the brink of depression, during my early teens and twenties, from the loss of my brother and my best friend, nobody could reach me except these songs. The songs touched my heart and calmed my tormented mind. I often wonder if these artists realize just how precious their music is.
I use rock both of my sons to sleep to this song when they were babies ❤ i believe this is a remake or just remixed version here , but in original version Darlene Love and Blossoms and Dean from Jan and Dean are in background. He wanted the beach boys but they werent available
Love B.J. Thomas. But Amber, i have to tell how amazing you look. So beautiful. You look like a super model. I can't remember how long ago it was when you had your last baby, but whatever you did you look fantastic. We love you and Jay. And Jay, put that Brothers Gibb picture back where it belongs. I know you a die hard Barry fan. But i would love to see Robin's face up there. God Bless you both❤
Another classic artist you should check out is Neil Sedaka, who had many hits in the 60’s and some in the 70’s one song “Breaking up is hard to do” a fast version in the 60’s and a wonderful slow version in the 70’s also in the 70’s “Laughter in the Rain” AWESOME hit!!!!! In the 60’s “Happy Birthday sweet sixteen” “Calendar Girl” “Oh Carol” about when Carol King was his girlfriend.
He was great!!!! I always cry a little with this song, remember my mother, that now is gone 💔Another one that I love from his repertoire is Long Ago Tomorrow. ♥️✌️
That's Duane Eddy on the twangy guitar. A fine tune written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. The Blossoms are singing backup with others. When this came out many people thought the Beach Boys were on this track...they weren't. Several members from the Wrecking Crew also participated.
Gorgeous song and one of my all time faves and I was touched by the reaction to it from Amber and Jay with your personal memories. Most Of All and I Just Can't Help Believing are two more stand out songs but every song he sang was beautiful.
One of the most beautiful male voices ever. I taught myself to sing by listening to his records as well as a few other great singers. Other great songs include: "Hooked on a Feeling", "Don't Worry Baby", "I Just Can't Help Believing", "Eyes of a New York Woman" and many others, including Country Hits from the Eighties like "Whatever Happened to Old Fashioned Love" and "New Looks from an Old Lover" and several wonderful Christian albums like "Home Where I Belong". So many wonderful hits from this guy!
The guitar solo was by Duane Eddy, who had a huge hit with "Rebel-'Rouser". BJ Thomas did the song "I Just Can't Help Believing" by the couple that wrote this song - Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
Another of the great talent from the ERA. BJ had numerous great songs but I only saw one other request for what we need in this world now. "Mighty Clouds of Joy" a must listen for both of you.
My favorite, BJ Thomas song, I would play this in the early evening On Saturday when we used to drink a few years back, The whole place would get quiet and just listen to the song, when the song was over the next song came on people began to talk again, the lyrics and those great harmonies, great
I just love you guys. Thanks for posting one of my favs. Did you know that there were actually talks about having the Beach Boys do the backing vocals...it didn't work out, but the producers decided to have the back up singers mimic BB harmonies. Again, thanks so much.
Most of all, any love is better than no love, billy and sue, eye's of a New York woman, I'm so lonesome I could cry, this is just a few of many great songs from BJ Thomas.🎸👍
He was a guest on a talk show years ago. He spoke of a horrendous childhood. I already liked his singing but after hearing his story I felt such love for him. He overcame so much in his younger life. No wonder his feelings are so believeable in the songs he sang!
Nancy, he spent more time at my Dads,/Grandparents house because of his home life. Did not know who he was til I was 1-12 years old. Til the he was just Dads buddy. Rosenberg,Tx.
Wonderful wonderful tune. Just love this one and "Mama". Will be singing along for sure. Oh I'm a bit weepy... Lost Mom in 2013 and sometimes the loss still hits... That's right Amber. Right Jay. I've heard that Beach Boys are and are NOT the background singers. Certainly BB'esque.Gosh. So moving. Thanks.
BJ Thomas had some great songs back in the day. "Hooked On A Feeling" (loved it too much to ever really get into the Blue Swede version), "I Just Can't Help Believing", "No Love At All", "Mighty Clouds Of Joy", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", "Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song", "Mama"...
BJ is one of my most favorite singers and this song gets me every time!! You really need to listen to "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" also "Hooked On A Feeling"!! His voice was beyond amazing!!
Wow, never not known what to say in a comment before, except for thanks for sharing some of your past, and how very happy that you are where you are today.
Haven't seen any mention of this yet so here is another music trivia aspect for the song. The "twangy" guitar in the chorus is played by the late great Duane Eddy, a guitar legend in the 50's and early 60's. Another fantastic reaction J and Amber. Loved it. Peace out.
You both can expose your children to B.J. Thomas' music and they'll end up ok. Because they too, will understand. My Father had me listen to his music and every time I hear his music, it brings me back to those moments with him.
Love this song. Many people thought it was the Beach Boys on backing vocals, but it was Dave Somerville of The Diamonds (Little Darlin') and the Blossoms . One of my first 45's I bought was his song "No Love At All". Please react to that song and his "Hooked On A Feeling " song Thanks. 😎
Beautiful song, beautiful memories. This was one of my older sister's favorite songs. I was in 2nd grade when my father went to Vietnam, and I was terrified and heartbroken. My sister played this song for me to cheer me up. Thank you for reacting to this song!
Great Call Amber! There is another version of this song by BJ with Duane Eddy on the guitar, and The Beach Boys doing the backing vocals. It's amazing!
Jenks, OK is a family name. Billy Jo was family friend. BJ started singing when my dad was hit in the throat and couldn't play a gig, Rosenberg,TX. What you don't know is why his sounded Rough on Raindrops.
I can't listen to this without having tissues handy. If you haven't listened to B.J. Thomas' "Mighty Clouds of Joy," do yourself a favor and check it out.
About 15 years ago now, for mother's day I paid for a professional recording studio to record me singing this song and also Too Ra A Loo and gave my mom the master and CD. When I was born in 1971, my dad was a Marine in Viet Nam. At the time I was born mom was 16. Dad may have been gone but all 6 of my mother's sisters would come and help but Rock N Roll Lullaby is special between Mom and I. Although it released about 6 month or so after I was born.
that opening guitar riff is by the late great Duane Eddy(and you should play his late 50's and early 60's rock and roll instrumentals such as "Rebel Rouser"(1958), "Because They're Young"(1960) & "Rebel Walk"(1961) among others....And Elvis Presley's top 6 favorite pop singers were Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, Gene Pitney, Tom Jones, Neil Diamond & B.J. Thomas.
The great Duane Eddy on guitar and is that the Beachboys, NO but many many people have thought so. BJ Thomas created all of the background music if you didn't know better you'd think the Beachboys were singing backup. A really cool song.
Thank you guys, I forgot about this song. It is similar to my story. My mom was young when she had my sister and I came along 3 years later. My mom instilled a love of music in me since I can remember. My mom would sing or hum music to us when I was very little. many years later and it reminds me of her love and hard work. See you in Heaven mom....

His voice is so beautiful and clear and you can understand every word he sings!! Not every singer can do that!!
my favorite BJ Thomas song. I almost cry everytime I hear it. my late wife used to sing this to the kids when they were babies. this and "you are my sunshine" really take me back to late 70's/early 80's when she and I were barely 20 and starting our family. Miss ya hon, see you soon.
Raindrops keep falling on my head. And just like a guy that’s gotten too big for his bed. Nothing seems to fit… Love, love love BJ Thomas.❤
Elvis said if he could trade voices with anyone it would be B J Thomas. Love y’all.
That's wonderful. I'm a big fan of BJ. What's your source for that?

Are the Beach Boys on this recording?
My best friend's aunt took us to see BJ Thomas in 7th grade. It was my first concert. I will still stop what I'm doing to hear his voice. Try "Hooked On a Feeling."
RIP BJ Thomas...Timeless voice...
BJ did a version of Hank Williams' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" that is off the charts.
It's been off the charts for about 60 years. 🙂
It was his first. And it was a biggie.
Agree. My favorite BJ Thomas song.
If you guys want more of the smooth vocals from Mr Thomas you should give " I Just Can't Help Believin' " a listen!

I use rock both of my sons to sleep to this song when they were babies ❤ i believe this is a remake or just remixed version here , but in original version Darlene Love and Blossoms and Dean from Jan and Dean are in background. He wanted the beach boys but they werent available
I have always been impressed with B. J.'s range in this song. His usual deep voice going into the falsetto is incredible.
Thanks for this review.
Duane Eddy on guitar and a very Beach Boys sounding Darlene Love and the Blossoms with Diamonds members on backing vocals. Beautiful song.
Love B.J. Thomas. But Amber, i have to tell how amazing you look. So beautiful. You look like a super model. I can't remember how long ago it was when you had your last baby, but whatever you did you look fantastic. We love you and Jay. And Jay, put that Brothers Gibb picture back where it belongs. Love so many BJ Thomas songs including Hooked on a Feeling, and Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song

"Laughter in the Rain", "The Hungry Years" and "That's When the Music Takes Me"
He was great!!!! I always cry a little with this song, remember my mother, that now is gone 💔Another one that I love from his repertoire is Long Ago Tomorrow. ♥️✌️

Thanks for that, I was just listening and thinking someone was ripping off Duane, it is so distinct. ✌️
And the Blossoms with Darlene Love and Dean from Jan and Dean are there too
I love BJ’s voice.
Another of the great talent from the ERA. BJ had numerous great songs but I only saw one other request for what we need in this world now. "Mighty Clouds of Joy" a must listen for both of you.
His voice was so easy on the ears.
Another great tune of his is "Most of All."
My first favorite song when I was probably 5-6 was B.J. Thomas “Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song”.
I love this song. The reverb just drips with beauty.
Also try BJ's "Hooked on a feeling" and "Deep in the Eyes of a New York Woman"
Love, deep in the eyes of a New York woman.
Mighty Clouds of Joy - B. J. Thomas
That's the one. That's my personal favorite of his. The studio version is the one to go by --not a live version.
Listening to this on the 13th anniversary of my mom leaving this world. Definitely got the tears flowing. Love B.J. and this song
'(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song' next please. 1976 Grammy winner for Best Country Song.
This is my favorite song of his.
BJs version of I'm so lonesome I could cry is a classic and his first hit.

I got chills just waiting for the music to start! I so love BJ. ❤😢
He also sang Gospel later in his career. "Home Where I Belong" is my favorite of those.

Love this song and BJ Thomas’s beautiful voice!!!
Wonderful wonderful tune. Just love this one and "Mama". Will be singing along for sure. Oh I'm a bit weepy... Lost Mom in 2013 and sometimes the loss still hits... That's right Amber. Right Jay. Absolutely one of my all time favorite songs.

Oh my gosh! I haven't heard this song in AGES! Always loved it!! Backing, also like Sha Na Na & some 50's/early 60's groups.
Was able to see BJ Thomas at Red Rocks in Denver. Was a great concert.
One of BJ Thomas’s finest.❤️✌🏻🎶
What a beautiful voice
He has a great song called "Mama" that will make you cry!
He followed that up with Daddy.
I love this one. My Dad had this on cassette tape and remember listening to it in the car.
Beautiful song, beautiful memories. This was one of my older sister's favorite songs. I was in 2nd grade when my father went to Vietnam, and I was terrified and heartbroken. My sister played this song for me to cheer me up. Thank you for reacting to this song!
Love this song!❤ I get watery eyed every time I here this song!
Another great choice. Great memories for this old boy. You make it worthwhile coming here everynight. Luv ya
Great Call Amber! There is another version of this song by BJ with Duane Eddy on the guitar, and The Beach Boys doing the backing vocals. It's amazing!
No, not the Beach Boys. But they did sound like them.
This is the prettiest song he ever recorded .
I love this song. It's one of my favorites.
Smooth awesome singer.
BJ Thomas had some great songs. You have to check out "I Just Can't Help Believing." It's soooooo good.
I forgot all about this song. What a special treat.
I have grown to love you 2 so much. You gave grown so much in your appreciation and knowledge of recorded music. Plus you are handsome together!🎉
Jenks, OK is a family name. Billy Jo was family friend. BJ started singing when my dad was hit in the throat and couldn't play a gig, Rosenberg,TX. What you don't know is why his sounded Rough on Raindrops.
I love this song! It brings back so many memories!
BJ Thomas had a beautiful voice, he was also very beautiful. I love his music especially that Growing Pains theme song
I can't listen to this without having tissues handy. If you haven't listened to B.J. Thomas' "Mighty Clouds of Joy," do yourself a favor and check it out.
That's my favorite song of his. But the studio version is better than live versions.
I love BJT’s music! Mighty Clouds of Joy is a jewel that needs to be brought out to shine!
His gospel songs are really beautiful. BJ is a legend!
Home Where I Belong.
Best male voice of the late 60's early 70's in my opinion. "Eyes Of a New York Woman" was one of his early hits, great song!
About 15 years ago now, for mother's day I paid for a professional recording studio to record me singing this song and also Too Ra A Loo and gave my mom the master and CD. Thomas.
And Roy Hamilton, Dean Martin, Mario Lanza [pop opera], and so many more.
"Another somebody done somebody wrong song" is a must list.
Elvis always said Roy Orbison had the best voice
" I Just Can't Help Believing", one of B.J.Thomas's biggest hits. Must listen to. " Hooked on a feeling", another big hit.
Beautiful voice, beautiful song!!!
Thank you! I knew you would like this!
Wow. Haven't heard this in about 3 decades or so. Good memories.
The great Duane Eddy on guitar and is that the Beachboys, NO but many many people have thought so. BJ Thomas created all of the background music if you didn't know better you'd think the Beachboys were singing backup. A really cool song.
Glad you liked this one. Beautiful song!
Very Beautiful Song
