Hi Mike thank you for your help. I started playing the drums at 59 and now I'm 60 but hard for me because I just have 30% hearing in my right ear. I learned so much from you
That is great Mike. It brought a big smile to my face. Sounds and looks complex but when you break it down and show how it's built it seems so easy. Excellent video. I'll be giving this a shot.
Hi Andrei, yes it's four notes - they're an 8th note, two 16ths then another 8th note. So if you play that phrase five times over, you'll be left with a single 8th note at the end to complete the two-bar phrase in 4/4. The count for the whole thing would be... 1 +a,2 + ,3e+ ,4 +a,1 + ,2e+ ,3 +a,4 + (with the "+" at the end being the extra one) The simplest reference point would be that your right stick on the floor tom will play 8ths all the way through the two bars (except for that final "+"). I think a few bells of the ride and hi hat hits would fit nicely. Be tasty :)
Ginger Baker loved the 3:2 polyrhythms thanks to his training with Phil Seaman
I don't get it. If it's four notes how do you get an AND at the end in any version of 4:4 time?
