Simply amazing collection of fish and plants. I'm speechless. Just staring at perfection. The cleanliness of the tanks is most impressive, most of the time when someone has more than 5 tanks they don't take care of them the way they should, most of the time there is so much algae on the glass that you can't see inside the tanks on video, let alone tell what kind of fish are in the tank.
+Michael Agostino yeah- He will admit they aren't always this clean- he knew I was coming, but he certainly has them sparkling for this video.....He's killing it. It was awesome for me to hang out with him down there. I would have liked to have spent more time sitting in a chair checking them out, eat species at a time. feeding them to watch them flair up and show off. THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Enjoyed the fish tank news letter...and most certainly enjoyed the rainbow room. I appreciate you and Mr. Lange sharing this entertaining and informative video.
I think I read this guy's bio in an issue of Tropical Fish magazine. It's just amazing the amount of dedication he has for rainbow fish, and they extensive first hand knowledge he has developed. Great find Dustin! This is a really sweet video!
+hanzifaction HUGE asset to the hobby. I was like a sponge the whole time I was with him....totally dedicated, and has brought and bred many great rainbows. Thanks bro- Tank on!
What an amazing fish room! Not only is his collection awesome but his knowledge about rainbows is spectacular. Sad when you compare his fish to what you usually find in the stores. Genetics matter for sure.
+FlintSparkedStudios yeah- he uses a pump from Jehmco that is mega quiet. (I have the same brand in my Greenhouse. ) work great and aren't loud....because lets be honest- nothing is worse than loud noise while you are trying to enjoy some fish tanks
+cichlid mark thanks man, yeah- so while i would love to make longer videos....it isn't every day you visit a fishroom like this...but i hear ya...thanks for the support
Goyder Rivers are great. Very aggressive spawners but never seem to hurt each other whether a male with his female of choice or males battling each other. You will end up with an alpha much like a school of loaches but they seem to all get along. All of the above can also be said for my Boesemanis. With all due respect to Gary, my Goyders are EVERY bit as colorful as these and I got them at Petco! (I know, I know...but it was love at first site seeing the big school at the store). Perhaps the local rainbow wholesaler is breeding some true, imported Goyders like Gary here. Anyway, nice video. We have very similar tastes in tank stocking so it was fun to watch.
Mr. Gary Lang is a BOSS! WOW! Thank you for this video Dustin. My favorite fish of all time is the Aytinjos and im lucky enough to have a 120 with 12 of them. They are my pride and joy and hopefully I will have a lot more in the future :-)
I'm a salt water guy but I've been watching a lot and I mean A LOT of your vids lately and I've gotta say think I'm gunna try a fresh water tank as well soon as we move to our new house next , it's all really so interesting
Great Video Dustin and wow what a setup too.. is Gary just doing this as a hobby or does he look to sell on stock? What was nice to see was the plants looked amazing and ALL the tanks thanks for sharing
Hey dustin, do you happen to know if gary only uses gravel in the rainbowfish planted tanks ? Also what are the LEDs that he runs on some of those tanks ?
I have a 55 gallon with some rainbows and angelfish. The ph is about 7.2 and the temp is at 78 I dose seachem flourish, potassium, and iron once a week on the iron and twice a week on the others. I run a fluval aqua sky led light. I have some anubias java fern, crested java fern, some various crypts and some other odd balls everything seems to have decent color but the plants still grow fairly slow is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for a great video! What an amazing fish room Mr. Lange has! Can you tell me what those 'mop' looking things are and what their purpose is, please? They look like string mops you use to mop the floors with. I can't imagine what they are used for! Well, maybe I just don't have any imagination...LOL
Whatever became of the dwarf Val? Never seen that for sale. Btw- M.trifasciata are dominant Rainbows in a tanks of mixed Rainbows. Not mean..but top dogs are the males. M.boesemani want to be top and they ARE aggressive with other Rainbows..but back down to M.trifasciatus.
hey dustin. Huge fan of your channel. I was wondering in gary main display tank when you walk down the steps, what is the huge cactus looking plant in the middle
I am a big fan of the Pseudomugil family of rainbow fishes. Just cannot find a breeder here in Florida that has good quality and even some rarer species.
Man i bet you checked one off of the bucket list on this one. I saw someone else tour this room without gary narrating and it wasn't nearly as enjoyable. And the fact that the first words from him were "and beer" ...I feel like i could sit and drink for hours and just talk fish and plants with you two. None of my friends are interested to that extent. lame lol Great tour man, can't wait to see what's to come. And gary if you stumble upon these comments, Thank you for the leaps and bounds that you have taken to help make this hobby what it is today.
That brown/mix color gravel seen in many of the early shown tanks was widely distributed in the Chicagoland area all through the 50s and 60s. Great for plants. I can't find it now on the east coast. Nor did I see it when I dropped in on some Chitown stores last time I was there. It shouldn't be rare. Lange said he had a Wisconsin source. I'd like to find out what the source is and also whether the Chicago pet stores still carry it. I'd haul some back on my next trip home.
I love my tanks and my fish, but I have a relatively aggressive tank. I could really use the help of aquarium plants with my Nitrates. So for the moment, I am using Marimo Moss Balls. But good god I am still water changing out my ass to keep those Nitrates down. Just to clarify, my tanks ARE cycled, and they are NOT heavily populated.
I have a 38 gallon aquarium and gonna make it a community tank but people say don't out neon tetras as your first fish so you know what I should add first?
Did anyone catch the name of the ingredient to look for in fish food. esethanums...aseithanums??? I would love to find this for my rainbow tank. I would love to have Glossiolepsis Wanemensis in my tank! I butchered the spelling something awful I know but it sure is a beautiful fish when, as Gary says "turns on". Great Great video. Thanks so much Dustin.
One of the best fish room tours on TH-cam, Dustin always shows great passion for the hobby really well
fish tanks and beer? I wish I was friends with this guy.
I have fish tanks and beer, but no fish people come to my house! Must be the lack of the comfy chairs in my fish room. LOL
My wife is mad at me for having 7 tanks. She just don't know my plans...hahaha. Love his setup.
Best fish room tour I have ever seen on TH-cam!
+Dendrochirus zebra thanks, wait until you see what else I have in store for your all from this trip....a bunch of other really sweet setups...
Simply amazing collection of fish and plants. I'm speechless. Just staring at perfection.

Well, none the less. It was an awesome sight and great interview. Loved it very much.
Enjoyed the fish tank news letter...and most certainly enjoyed the rainbow room. I appreciate you and Mr. Lange sharing this entertaining and informative video.
+Linda Deal THANKS LINDA! (we enjoyed serving you and your plant order as well :)
Never been a fan of rainbow fish, but after seeing these tanks i might have to rethink that. great video Dustin!
+MIXTURE1001 thanks, yeah they are pretty legit and so many varieties too!

I think I read this guy's bio in an issue of Tropical Fish magazine. It's just amazing the amount of dedication he has for rainbow fish, and they extensive first hand knowledge he has developed. Great find Dustin! This is a really sweet video!

What an amazing fish room! Not only is his collection awesome but his knowledge about rainbows is spectacular. Sad when you compare his fish to what you usually find in the stores. Genetics matter for sure.
Chairs, Beer, and Fish love the life Gary...CHEERS!
I noticed his space is a lot quieter than some of the other awesome fish rooms you've shown.
+FlintSparkedStudios yeah- he uses a pump from Jehmco that is mega quiet. (I have the same brand in my Greenhouse. ) work great and aren't loud....because lets be honest- nothing is worse than loud noise while you are trying to enjoy some fish tanks
Amazing fish room! Just amazing!
nice I'm thinking of getting an airstone now :D thx for the vid

+cichlid mark thanks man, yeah- so while i would love to make longer videos....it isn't every day you visit a fishroom like this...but i hear ya...thanks for the support

Goyder Rivers are great. Very aggressive spawners but never seem to hurt each other whether a male with his female of choice or males battling each other. Hey dustin, do you happen to know if gary only uses gravel in the rainbowfish planted tanks ? Also what are the LEDs that he runs on some of those tanks ?
Gary is awesome!

Firetail gudgeon! I just caught them in a creek by my work ha ha
This is great.
I love the tanks!!
epic! good job
Great video!! I have one question: What is that thing in all the acuariums?? It's like a wig? What is it for? To creat a bacteria media?
+Diego Bambozzi that is how the grand master spawn them. they are spawning mops, the fish swim up in them and lay eggs :)
+Dustin's Fish Tanks Excellent! Thanks!
I have a 55 gallon with some rainbows and angelfish. The ph is about 7.2 and the temp is at 78 I dose seachem flourish, potassium, and iron once a week on the iron and twice a week on the others. hey dustin will you be in chicago in November for the aquatic world Expo?
Whats his substrate to grow all of those plants? extremely jealous of all of these tanks
The Australian rainbow fish is called a crimson spotted rainbow fish. I can catch them in my creek.

+Dustin's Fish Tanks Oh cool, thanks! What an awesome idea that is! I wonder what other fish they could be used for.

Where do I get to see how Gary Lange propergates the crinum calimastratum, I cant find it online anywhere
I just moved to an hour outside St Louis. Are you around here too? Do you have some of that val for sale? Do you have boesemani?
great video btw 👍
Whatever became of the dwarf Val? Never seen that for sale. Btw- M.trifasciata are dominant Rainbows in a tanks of mixed Rainbows. Not mean..but top dogs are the males. M.boesemani want to be top and they ARE aggressive with other Rainbows..but back down to M.trifasciatus.

fishkeeper513 no clue. I'll ask him next time I see him
Do rainbows need planted tanks? Thanks
How does he filter all these tanks? Just with sponge filters?
I am a big fan of the Pseudomugil family of rainbow fishes. Just cannot find a breeder here in Florida that has good quality and even some rarer species.
Sweet man! Thumbed & Sub'd!
I would pay soooo many dollars to have that short Val in my life!!!! What's it called? Heck I'll just watch the video a third time...
Man i bet you checked one off of the bucket list on this one. I saw someone else tour this room without gary narrating and it wasn't nearly as enjoyable.
