I think at the end of Puyo Puyo~n, Doppelganger Arle turned good. We see her at the end of Puyo Puyo~n on top of one of the circus tents looking at the mask she wore to turn into Pierrot. She probably appeared in this game to test pre-Puyo Puyo~n Arle to see if she was as good as the Arle in Puyo Puyo~n was.

Well, at least Arle eventually got a fully fleshed-out portrait sprite sheet styled after her Puyo Tsu portrait.
Apparently, that _isn't_ the Arle that _you_ play as though; that's Puyo Puyo~n Arle. You play as pre-Puyo~n/Madou Monogatari Saturn Arle, the one you see in Puyo Puyo SUN and all Puyo/Madou games before that.

For other regions there is a simular game - Dr. Robotnik Mean Bean Machine.

BlagomirDao Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine was only on the Genesis, and Puyo Puyo BOX was only on the PlayStation. There's also a Game Gear/Master System version, but that was only an 8-bit game, so if you want to enjoy Mean Bean Machine at its top system, then it's the Genesis, but if you really want to play its roots, then use an emulator or own the actual copy and a Japanese Mega Drive.
