I only ever took part in trench warfare on military exercises. Scary stuff, you never know what around the corner, never know if there are hiding/shooting positions, never know if the enemy will throw grenades into your position. The soldier in this video, I can't imagine what it was like for him, literally a trigger pull away from being killed himself, and instead he took the fight to the invaders, fought threw and killed the enemy. Proper soldiering, balls of steel, and if he ever has regrets in the wee small hours of the morning, just remember, it was you or them.

Truly. He could have dropped during that last part of the original video, first shown in this interview. He turned just in time to see the enemy and get off two quick shots at PBR. The enemy was willy nilly strolling through the trench, weapon lowered to the dirt and hand no chance to react in time.
Been told alot "it was your or them", I was once involved in a "your boys or them" situation still choaks me to this day, can't even fathom how terrifying trench warfare must be, shoutout to these boys, fighting at much closer quarters and are fighting a stronger Army but winning, we were fighting a bunch of idiots with wooden guns, these guys deserve all the respect they are actively defending a country too, so the reason for war is a real reason not the bullshit I was told 10 years ago!

I have seen firsthand how durable human beings can be, and it is freaky to see someone still fighting on with half their head missing or riddled full of holes. And yet, it happens. So it's not overkill to put a few more rounds in the brainpan to make DAMNED sure they stay down, despite what the uninitiated might think after watching too many movies.

In this age of body armor, head shots are pretty much the only way to make sure they stay down.
Just wounding one means somebody has to carry him out, often two people. Even in my father's war in the Pacific wounded prisoners were a liability.

@@popescustefangeorge6707 when it comes to 9mm and the human body, half to most times the 9mm bullet wont go in far enough because its stopped by the muscle and bones in the body. even when the bullets get stuck its actually better for the person who has been shot to have the bullet lodged inside rather than it being out the body or shot through the body. it prevents any further damage, clogs up the hole and gives the area of that body chance to reinforce and heal. its why 9mm isnt really that good of a caliber anymore against people. the skin isnt tough enough but the internals are. thick and compact and takes a beating.

After this war is over Ukraine will have a dilemma. The Ukraine army will be imbalanced because all the fighters deserve purple hearts, some deserve to get 5 purples heart. Everyone in the Army will be in Special Forces, No way these guys going back to the regular Army, They have more training (life & Death Training for almost two years now) than any special forces in the world, and in my opinion, they are number #1.
I wonder what will these guys do after the war. Will Ukrainian and Russian societies be able to integrate all these dozens of thousands of people who have obviously been subjected to the most stressful and traumatizing life threatening situations, who had to kill so not to be killed, back into a "normal" life? Doubt it, unfortunately.
What I am seeing is a radical shift in the power blocks in Europe away from the traditional centers of military-industrial power in Western Europe towards the east, with Poland and Ukraine having the potential to be a massive military power in the EU. They are already very closely allied, so I figure in ten years they will be much like the US and Canada are as joint military forces, with Poland having the industrial might and Ukraine having the agriculture (barring irradiation by Russian terror acts) and the most battle hardened troops of any industrialized nation on the planet right now. Even the US can't boast as high of a per-capita number of combat veterans with recent modern warfare experience, and Ukraine lacks much of the US' advanced warfare fighting technology such as comms, satellite, and digital warfare force integration technologies and thus have to slog it out the old fashioned way. This will prove invaluable in the future for both training and re-writing tactical doctrine, and for the next suite of major wars we'll face in the middle and latter part of this century.
@@BreandanOCiarrai Don't forget Ukraine was a scientific and industrial powerhouse in the USSR days. They had the big shipyards and significant aerospace industry. When this is all over, and Ukraine is rebuilt I expect you are absolutely right that Poland and Ukraine, allied with the smaller Baltic countries, will be a military powerhouse.

The way they cleared the trench was textbook, which is hard to do in the heat of the moment. Most SF selection processes around the world go through an intense training to weed out who is fit for the job. It's not just physical but having mentality to focus on the job without emotions. Definitely on par with any other top tier SF groups

they are still struggling hard from what ive heard now. because of the fact that the russians are more tightly packed meaning more of them in a smaller area plus the heavy armour and defenses getting stronger the further back the Ukrainians push them, they are now starting to suffer some losses on advancements as well as finding it harder to push the russians back.
ik that the ukrainians do this with certain positions and ranks and battallions anyway but i feel like during the fight, if u start getting low on ammo in ur squad and cant refill, i think looting the dead bodies for spare ammo and new guns or finding the time to store them for pickup is something all squads should all focus on to a certain degree. i see videos out there (granted they have methods in place) where they dont do this logical step. i feel like, the more you take away from the russians to loot say if they did happen to claim some land back, they now have more ammo and a better chance even on the front lines to push up further.
@@unboxing_legend7708 Agreed. The enemy had time to get well 'dug in' but they are on the defensive sitting in trenches going nowhere. The skill and training of 'winkling out' the enemy by the very professional Ukraine Army is going to be a very slow process - but it will gather pace in time and bear fruit, then the invaders moral will sink even lower and desertion will snowball through the whole lot . . . the domino effect.
I watched the 20 russian kill vid in HD and in its entirety, so was very interested to hear the squad leaders explanation. That footage will stay with me forever. You could almost smell the intensity.

I don't know, there are also videos of Russian soldiers defending trenches to the death rather than surrender. I suspect many of them actually do want to be there.

NATO should also provide Ukraine armed forces with tons of cigarettes (Marlboro etc.) also chocolates, skittles and chewing gums, they too are the necessities in the battlefield.
The Ukrainians should give the ruzzians all the cigarettes and vodka they can get their hands on. Drunkenness and improper cigarette disposal have become powerful weapons in this war.
Does it matter if it is slow? Once Russian artillery is identified it is taken out by the superior range of the Ukrainian (Nato) artillery. Whilst many doubt the figures, Putin inadvertently confirmed that on the day Ukraine claimed 58 Russian artillery losses (including MLRS) for the loss of 19 Ukrainian artillery (mainly ex-Soviet), Putin admitted 54 lost Russian artillery. As more Russian artillery is taken out the job of clearing minefields gets easier. It is still difficult because of Russian helicopters however they are losing too many. If Ukraine had decent air support the counter-offensive could start in full much sooner.

There must have been little to no cover and if the assault team had been caught exposed it could have/would have been dissasterous. I think he tries to explain multiple times that potentially the most dangerous part of the mission occurred before entering the trench. I wonder how far and long they crawled.
Once in the trench, if the Russians gainned the upper hand and a retreat was necessary there would probably have been massive casualties.
The Russian soldiers are probably disillusioned or don't really want to be there. Yet they are there. They're just random grunts in a hole with a rifle.
The assault lead was absolutely mechanical. No emotion, no fear. Nothing but double taps. It didn't even seem like he was shooting people. I think that's what is most disturbing in the clip. It's hard to register that a life goes away with such a gentle thud.
You want that in your assault teams. It's just intense focus on the task at hand and perfect execution of that task. It was so impersonal. It's probably a textbook example of the mental compartmentalization required to perform the task while suppressing or without processing the emotion of the experience. That's still in there. That comes at a cost and it is not his to bear alone.
In that trench it's just you or him. It's that simple. You have to perform at a high level to ensure your own and your comrades safety. He was a flawless hero.
The title of the video kind of glorifies the ruthlessness of war. In the interview he admits that he was just completing a task to the best of his ability during the act. The feelings came later or from somewhere else. The statement is an example of "gallows humor" and there is a reason for it.
The hatred and the coping probably comes from the callous absurdity of war. I would hate them too, if I had to gopher them off of my home land. I hope the war is over soon and that the soldiers will be encouraged to seek help with the post traumatic stress they all must experience. I wouldn't sugar coat it. Trench warfare has to be one hellish nightmare that extends six feet into infinity. The US has learned *the true cost* of war the hard way. There will have to be well funded programs to take care of our heroes who perform at the tip of the spear on the front line of Democracy long after the war. There are a lot of sacrifices being made by those who appear uninjured. The wounds you can't see will be the hardest to overcome.
I just don't think you can glorify the violence without recognizing the cost. That's a real person who is going to process that he killed people like they were fire ants at some point and it is probably not going to make as much sense to him then. It's not fair, but that's how it goes. War is just really absurd.

@@caromurp1 Thanks. The MM/TVP content is kind of a "guilty pleasure" that I generally try not to watch. I want to know what is actually happening, but I know it is wrong/damaging to see humans slaughtered in the way war requires. I don't appreciate the commentary often used, but the content is brutally raw and that provides perspective/understanding for the harsh reality the troops are facing.
He was so brave to face off enemy like that.

Thank you TVP for another episode of Military Mind. He's not the first Ukrainian soldier to say they are motivated by hatred. That is why they are taking no prisoners. Many of those Russian prisoners, if a Ukrainian soldier was captured, would be cheering someone on as they committed atrocities against the POW, so I understand their point of view. The Russians are broadcasting what they are doing to Ukrainian POWs like torture, castration, or slitting their throats even beheading which I think was a Wagner mercenary tactic that the Russians are trying to emulate. Now the Ukrainians have no mercy because it has been burned out of them by hearing those words or taking a position that another group failed to take and finding their comrades dead by one atrocity or another. So they have nothing left but hatred.
Those there at the end shown being briefed prior to departing for their mission are the real Heroes of Ukraine. May God keep them all safe from harm and allow them to inflict maximum damage on the criminal invaders!

I watched that battle in the trench and I'm glad I can watch this interview. What a great warrior. Nothing will brake Ukrainians. Rushkis have been trying for 100 years to erase their identity and never managed. This is Ukraines time to get rid of hoarders, rapers, looters for good. Ukraine is raising wolves in the battlefield. I hope they liberate their homeland sooner than later.

When is the Kerch bridge going to obliterated properly by storm shadow missiles etc already? Love & follow TVP & great interview with trench clearing hero, not so smart that you published it with all the tactics & not so smart that he gave away the tactics, it would appear.
After the land bridge is cut across the South. Until then, it's pointless and it will give the Russians the illusion of an escape route. Once they start to retreat and leave their equipment behind, then blow the bridge. The troops might get out, but none of their equipment or supplies will.
