It will be one hell of a hay making machine. The rehab is as much fun as watching the mill turn the damaged forrest into money and house materials. Tim should take advange of the mill and mine the woods with the crew. A tour of the hardwood vault wood be great. One of the crew could take on that opportunity as another farm income stream. At least the ground is frozen and trees can be moved in the snow. Good luck with the fall weather and tonnage per acre.

Burning the gas saves the ground water from being contaminated. I know you're tired of the rain. So was I last spring, even though we had a drought year. But I had a two and a half month stretch where it rained on my days off. And it really sucked. I couldn't do very much work at home. And the baler is looking great!
I saw the video of the baler already punching out bales, the bales look really good from what you've already done. Put a little IH red on it Wes, ok, ok, a LOT of IH red on it. LOL Great work as always. Cheers :)
I was manager of a service station in another life, I had to show an employee how dangerous petrol really was; lite a fire just like that one and we doused it with the provided SAND buckets. :) But three days later just sweeping it up, it exploded again, I knew it could happen but even I thought that a cup of fuel and three days would have made it safe.
One time I poured gas to get the fire going in a 45 gal drum we used to burn garbage. I must have been sidetracked and came back, but by then gas fumes had dispersed. Pieces of burning garbage shot up through the top, and I got a fancy hairdo. Just once :-)
Thats some nice fab work, Does the checker plate pattern help hold the bale longer making it pack tighter. I know rusty bale chambers can be the shits until they get shined up. Is it a help or pain in the butt now you are running it?

Texas too... Must be El Nino or La Nina... I've noticed that in years when we get one or the other (can't remember which) that my brother-in-law in Indiana gets lots of rain and we get bone dry. Then when the weather flips to the other one, we get tons of rain and the BIL gets bone dry. The weather patterns seem to be doing that this year, but slipped further east, because Indiana is about normal on rain, we're slightly below, but NJ and Pennsylvania and a lot of the east coast is just swamped with rain. The further west you go the drier it gets too, not just in TX but also in the Dakotas, Nebraska, etc. Weird that it's messing with Europe so badly this year too, and you guys down under... course yall are always pretty dry compared to us AFAIK, so I guess yall are in bad straits now... Messed up weather... We're dry but not hurting badly-- not yet anyway. Course it's a pretty dry time of year for us, July and August particularly. September usually means the heat breaks and cooler, somewhat wetter weather, at least halfway through September. Ready for the friggin' heat to break-- sick of high 90's to 100's. We see occasional thunderstorms pop up, but they drop maybe a 1/10 and that's pretty useless... just enough to settle the dust. Could use a good solid 2-3 inch rain. Later! OL J R :)

The baler was wider than the trailer he was hauling it on... so he painted orange stripes on the outside of the tires front and back to warn other drivers and maybe keep the cops off his @ss... It was in the first video where the baler first arrived on the farm... Later! OL J R :)

I'm not curious as to why you used diamond plate. I would have thought that would have been to rough for lack of a better word, and the bale not slide out as well as normal sheet steel.
That's the point... diamond plate is rough, rough means friction, friction means the bale has more resistance sliding out, more resistance means the hay is packed tighter in the bale by the plunger to overcome the resistance as its pushed out. Make sense?? Later! OL J R :)

he cleaned it about 3 weeks ago, if it's anything like mine in busy seasons it only stays clean for a few days. I went through my tool box a month ago it looks bad again now, as stuffs getting used for repairs and right back to the field as quick as we can. I got rain here in Manitoba but 49 other things to do before cleaning the workshop/ toolbox on the list.
You do know that liquid gas does not burn right? just the vapors on the top of the fuel. If concrete explodes in fires, then why do people use concrete blocks for outdoor fire pits, or for chimneys in homes.
