Testing your fire alarm is a simple procedure and should be carried out weekly. To monitor and ensure your fire alarm is operational in the event of a fire emergency a weekly fire alarm test is required.
A nominated ‘Responsible Person’ for the premises should ensure that a weekly test of the building’s fire alarm system is carried out under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005.

What if my building has lifts? Do I have to tell the others to not use them during the test(s)?

Or if buildings have pole stations for example, take the glass rod out if there is one and if it’s key activatable, do that. Here in the US we call them pullstations. It’s pretty simple you just call it for a fire.

    Really helpful video.
Do you have to do the same test with every Call point?

Testing the alarm should involve activation of a different manual alarm call point each time until they’ve all been tested. One call point per every week.
