Good question. When I first started, I practised a lot, making a lot of different toys. Practice with your tension, which is probably something that a lot of people struggle with and can make a difference to your finish toy.

How would I pack my handmade crochet hats that I sell

I guess it really depend how you want your customers to feel when they open up a package. Make a list of items you want to include and then source them. Do a few test runs so you get what you like. I think that's a good place to start. I've never made hats before, so I don't have any videos to show for that at the moment
