Das ist Himmel pur. Joyce Di(Dio)Donato, die sich mit der Rolle identifiziert und zu 120% darin aufgeht. Ein einziger Kraftakt und Seelenakt... Was gibt es Schöneres?!
I agree. I have tried just listening to quite a few of her broadcast performances from the Met and elsewhere and always I come to the same conclusion: I don't hear enough attention to the line and where is the legato? Mind you she is not alone. As someone else has observed it is much easier to cast Handel operas these days than Verdi or the bel canto canon. I think it is something to do with high harmonics. When they are present the voice carries, regardless of the its size and you get the full colour of it. But it can it does expose weaknesses across the compass and makes the sound harder to record. On the basis of this performance there is simply no comparison with Janet Baker. Ms Donato's singing sounds monochrome and dull by comparison.
Excuse me, who gave her to sing this role, her voice breaks, has no vocal dimension or strength for that role, what tonality did she take to sing it at all? This is a horror!
Grazie mille,è incredibile.
Absolutely fabulous.
Meravigliosa Joyce di Donato
I do hope that Dame Janet was able to see her natural successor. Very fine indeed. Thank you.
Amazing final🌹🌹🥺
マシュー・ポレンザニの粘りのある、強さを秘めた声はすばらしい!
5:42 what a beautiful run

If she's more interested in sophisticated acting than in a good signing technique, she should consider theatre instead of opera.
checkout Jessey Norman....

@@richardwhitehouse8762 I agree. Her voice is discouragingly poor.
