- A mother of three says she’s had nightmares after being shot in her own home. The incident was caught on the family’s security cameras. Olivas’ 12-year-old daughter held on to her baby brother and ran inside. Olivas was shot in the leg. She’s had three surgeries so far and is in physical therapy to try to repair the damage. The Kansas City Police Department says a 16-year-old is currently in custody with charges related to this shooting.
The fact that he was aiming at children is absolutely disgusting! That girl is absolutely brave.

Thanks again Inside Edition for not telling the story AT ALL.... the target was the 12 year old girl, she was being bullied at school and apparently told on him and the shooter was the bully's brother. That is what the KC news is saying. So sad and pathetic, can you imagine trying to take someone's life all because your brother got in trouble for being a bully? Absolutely crazy...
I hope he doesn't get bond or a slap on the wrist. He deserves at least 20yrs...

The story is the 12 year old was targeted. She had been bullied at school and reported it to the principal. The boy who was bullying her got in trouble and told his brother. The brother of the bully is the 16 year old who shot at the girl. I think the mother of the bully and the shooter needs to be locked up too. She may have been in on the crime. She definitely raised her son's wrong. I pray the mother of the good daughter heals.

I just found out that they found the teen responsible and charged him with 1st degree assault. How in the heck is this 1st degree assault and not attempted murder? The law is messed up. In the other note, I am praying for the mother.

On a similar case of road rage they said attempted murder is harder to prove and 1rst degree assault can get up to 20 years (depending on the state) if he is tried as an adult which is the same time as a life sentence.

But as far as I'm aware, in my 17 years, there has only been two reports of shootings, and both were gang related, and both involved 15-17 year olds with guns, shooting at other 15-17 year olds, both sides having gang affiliations. It's so so so safe here. And there is no where else in the world i would rather live

The shooters brother was bullying the girl at school and she got him in trouble, the brother told the shooter and that set him off. As someone who was bullied I'm the past and currently about to be a mother that's hella scary wtf
