- More companies are dropping education requirements from job postings, but a new study shows you're still much better off in the job market with a college degree. Parisa Fatehi-Weeks, a senior director at Indeed, joins CBS News to explain the implications of these changes.

It's hard even for them. Entry level positions that require a Master's Degree and 5 years experience. That's BS.

College is not worth the cost anymore.
Really?
I see lots of videos of graduates reduced to tears on tiktok because they work 50 hours a week, and can't save anything because of cost of living.
They got jobs that don't require a degree like a labor job.
Couldn't that be because the people who went to college and got good jobs don't need to post complaints on tiktok for likes and validation?
this is based on the fact that the few who got the few jobs, had degrees.
Of course. If you don’t have a degree, they don’t have to pay you for your skills. I’ve been there before. It is all about their bottom line, money wise.
If money is all you care about hold your breath everytime you count it
Yeah but a gender studies degree doesn't get you very far anymore.
It's a complicated topic, but in short...it depends on where you apply, what position, what pay, your resume, cover letter, reference, and sometimes...your race. Yes, race does matter in this topic because white privilege is still a thing. No one just talks about it.💯
Keep in mind what careers will end soon do to AI advancements. Before you graduate your studied industry could fall like painting for example.
Go on indeed…lots of jobs require bachelor associate and pay 17-19 hourly that’s not right
Exactly! 😂 doesn't make sense!
Exactly
Depends on the job and the degree.
Exactly.
Blame the government who made too many colleges. A college needs a government grants from the government to establish their business. College used to be a privilege to go but anyone can get a college degree from a random online college
In 🇺🇸: is dropping school smart ?
In 🇨🇦: hold my 🍁 syrup cup
Huh?
😂😂😂 I don't get this!

Well Fox News is telling Americans not to go to college. And Fox News is a very reputable news agency who looks out for the average Americans wellbeing.
Even though they drop the degree requirement they are still going to hire the person with a degree and experience
An advantage when applying for Burger King.
If I was an employer I would never hire an applicant without a degree because so much comes with a young person with a degree that is extremely valuable. Ignorance is not bliss! The applicant could have a two year degree, four year degree or graduate degree. Also, if I was an employer I would not hire people who didn't read a physical book on a regular basis. Somehow, in my dream HR department there would be a reading comprehension test of some kind. The most ideal candidate is one that not only has a degree, a higher degree would be even better, but also extensive life or work experience outside academia in some way. Oh what a possibly robust applicant they would be.
So long as you're willing to pay at a higher wage.
That’s your view, my view is that college isn’t necessary to be successful, learn valuable skills in the work force, gain knowledge and experience while making money, make enough money to open up a company that you’re an expert at
you should ask musk, steve job, zuckergberg about that
@@Hproawesome A higher education and the environment of having to deal with situations as in independent individuals without the supervision of parents allows young people to truly grow in college and universities. People keep talking about "social" this and "social" that. How about a university or college education helping 20-somethings become socially mature and teaching them how to deal with social situations in a functional way. I agree though, college and universities may not be for everybody but I can darn surely tell when a person hasn't been to college or university. They wear it on their sleeves unfortunately.
I think part of it is that a lot of employers still PREFER a college degree even if they don't REQUIRE it.
She’s really trying to make using ‘skill’ as a verb a thing. I truly hope it doesn’t catch on.
She says "keep skilling".
People who have degrees do often get paid more than someone who doesn't. But that includes high school dropouts.
Dropped out of high school in 1988. Got a GED. Got into the Carpenters Union in 1990. Then the stationary engineers Union in 2007. Have made over 100k a year some years. Plus great health insurance and a pension and 401k. I’ve done at least as well and in a lot of cases better than college grads my age. But you got to be able to take a layoff. Maybe change careers. Roll with the punches in life. Recession , layoffs , inflation. Those things are gonna come. Whether you’ve got a masters degree or not.
Been living in Thailand for 6 months now. My advise for someone young with a degree or not is to work remote. Digital nomad. Figure out the freelance thing or make your own company. You’re better off making 50k a year in Bangkok than making 100k a year in Chicago NYC or LA. More value in SE Asia or Latin America than living in the US. But wtf do I know? I’m just a blue collar dropout retired in SE Asia in my mid 50s.
A lot of people fail to realize that learning a trade in 2-3 years can lead you to a 6 figure salary. You can also take the small business route, start a youtube channel to promote a sevice, social media, onlyfans if you're ok with such a thing, etc... The way I see it, unless you want to be a doctor or lawyer, going to college is truly not required for fiancial success any more in the modern global economy.
Yes I did it myself. At 22 I was making 39,000 a year I took a 4 day class to get into industrial construction At 23 years old I made 70k cause I didn’t have a lot of contacts to get jobs 24 and up 100k and up from a 4 day class what other industry can you make 40k a year. Take a 4 day class then make 100k a year after the class. No where except the trades
And yet, they haven't figured out how to pay their bills like everyone else.
🛐🙏❤facts💓❤❤💗❤💞❤❤💞❤❤❤💖😭Heavenly Father JesusGod, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! In Jesus Mighty God's holy name, Amen!"
💗❤❤💞This Gospel message if you continue to believe this message, you will be saved: For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried , that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time,
Yeah if it’s STEM fields
My cousin majored in Philosophy! 😂
My brother did, he made 80k a year
But need 20-30 years to pay it off and catch up to people who just worked instead and now have good positions with money...no thanks. That's a fool's game.
😂😂😂 enjoy those college debts
yea plumbers....lol....no you need adegree for cl!!!out
So they say,yet we the taxpayers foot the bill.
There's not true... just very few get the job.
That’s because the people hiring went to college and feel everybody has to go through the same meat grinder. They hire those who resemble them, and "do you have a degree" is quantifiable, a yes-or-no question to thin the pool of applicants.
Been watching TH-cam channel with the actually statistics which are factual not opinion based.
If you cant pay for college with the job you got from the college degree the guy without the degree cant afford to pay your loan either..COLLEGE IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY TODAY.
You have so many drowning in student loan debt, why folks continue to push college. If companies want college graduates, they should pay for it.
