A low budget review done well, great job! I love this game too, my favorite rpg on ps2. Its the perfect game for hard core jrpg fans. There are so many things to collect or "complete" as far as runes and learning abilities. It can take a ton of grinding to get every enemy item drop and restore every sealstone, etc. But the 1st game is superior in every way; the 2D sprites and backgrounds, characters and char design, char development, voices, dialogue/ translation, battle system, story, music/ audio...did i miss anything? VP1 is a G D masterpiece and I wish Square Enix would fund tri-Ace to make a proper VP3: Hrist. We have not seen anything new or original from them since Exist Archive in 2015/6 which I love but apparently no else does. It breaks my heart to see shit games like every FPS sell millions while gems like VP and Exist Archive get left behind.
So glad to have seen 2 new reviews of this classic (but relatively unknown) game pop up in the past year. This game is a shining gem and in my top 3 of all time games. It's worth buying a PS2 for.
I should mention that the first form of the final boss is super easy if you know what you're doing. If you only attack it head on, it's going to take ages, it's supposed to be that way. Also when characters leave the party, depending on how high level they are, you will get some really good items. Without giving too much away, the game more than compensates you for losing characters. Leveling up is mostly to learn new attacks and spells, the stat increases, while noticeable are nothing compare to the stat boosts you get from equipment, particularly the equipment you get from the characters that leave the party. There are countless ways to break this game and make the game super easy in general. Usually leveling up isn't the best option when fighting a tough enemy as while it can help a little, a change of strategy/setup can make a much bigger difference in the grand scheme of things. I'd say the game's difficulty starts rising once you get the divine time giver to compensate for the fact that you have unlimited attacks and it keeps going up throughout the game but as for whether you realize the difficulty ultimately depends on whether or not you had the right strategy. There's an exploit that can make the last boss a complete joke and It's pretty easy to figure out. Valkyrie Profile 2 is definitely not a well balanced game but I consider that a good thing as it forces you to think outside the box to solve problems. If you play it recklessly you're going to get obliterated but if you play it smart it really isn't that difficult at all and can actually be quite easy if you use a few tricks, it adds a lot of flavor to the experience if you ask me. Those journalists you mention are just a bunch of idiots who can't seem to understand how the game works because they clearly didn't spend time learning the combat and character management. Valkyrie Profile 2 is definitely not a hard game like everyone makes it out to be, it exercises you brain but it doesn't really put it to the test if you ask me. If you want a hard RPG, play The Last Remnant or Dark Souls.
I take it the final boss is, easier if hit from behind and what exploit?? Last remnant is great I just done get why the system encourages you to not battle lol
@@FilmFan-iv7sz Break away from your party using up/down on the d pad and lure, keep your main party away from the boss and have the solo character tank and attack, if the solo character dies, revive the solo character. Sometimes this is easier with just 2 characters since the smaller the group the easier it is to avoid stepping on an attack area/an attack area reaching you.

The absolute closest thing to a Valkyrie Profile 3 we have, at this juncture, is a little number by the name of Indivisible. Highly recommend it.
Valkyrie profile 2 on ps2 has 480p 16:9 support if you have component cables. Looks beautiful.

This is a ps2 game not ps1.
@@hepzibah4573 Corrected!
Absolutely amazing game! One of the best in the PS2. I need this so bad to get remastered!
It is a great game and very fun. I love how you learn skills and the music is, sooo good
Great review for a great game
nice
Good video, although I don't like the fact that you showed spoiler characters in your party.
Oh crap. My bad...

The best games are rarely balanced. NieR: Automata is my favorite game, and even that had some weird difficulty pacing.

@@FilmFan-iv7sz Sometimes it helps to be behind to bypass a cone attack but they can use the circle attack regardless of where you are.
@@CynicalGamingBlogTerry309ah OK thanks what about this exploit you mentioned lol
