Buzz thanks for the nice radio video sorry to hear about the car. Hope they find your wife's care. You must be Portland area. looking forward to next video
Wow Buzz, you sure do put an impressive amount of work into each video! Sorry to hear of the series of family calamities though; that tough! The Aussie radios are a bit different, a simple AM radio with all the provinces looks like a multiband radio at first glance. Most all the Aussie radios have a power transformer with a full-wave rectifier, which is a huge bonus over the US AA5 design. That particular radio David sent you, appears to be an AA5 design using 6 volt filament tubes. Since so much power is wasted on filaments with the AA5 design, I would expect this radio to pull about 22 watts. You may be able to use a capacitive tap on the primary of the power transformer to step up the voltage to 220 Vac. Connect two 5 uF plastic film caps in series, which connects to the transformer primary. Then connect the 120 Vac to the cap center tap and one side of the power tramsformer. That RF input transformer is in a vulnerable mounting location, looks like it could easily be damaged by removing the chassis from the cabinet. I would be tempted to relocate it to a safer place.
@@Buzz1151 I just mentioned the cap voltage step-up in case you wanted a stand-alone radio without the voltage converter. You can't do much about the 50 hertz though.

Buzz, Not only did the thieves steal your wifey's van, but they also stole the original note I included with that highly technical 2-knob radio. I knew you couldn't fix it.🤣 Regards, John
Hey John!, what's your problem with me?...all I know is that you sent Dickel a package with a toy in it, and you paid him to fix it..... Dickel read the letter you sent, and I can personally verify it was verbatim, as Dickel read it, and that was your signature..... Dickel fixed it , and It works very well, and he loves it, so If you want it back, then talk to him! ....I have to say, though, you have a nice crib there, but I am sorry you cant sleep without your "Little Boy Blue" toy.......Maybe you can get a new Ba-Ba that has a music box in it. Warm Regards, Buzz

thanks Bill.🍟🍔🍺
Enjoyed 😂 thoroughly Sir !❤
I'm glad!🍺🍺
Thanks again Buzz. You made my day thanks a ton ! 🍺 time for you pal.
glad to hear it Gord..cheers..🍺
Also learned “Waltzing Mathilda” in Grade school - Connecticut ca. 1970.

I’m glad peanut is ok
👍👍👍👍
Hi Buzz. Sorry to hear about Peanut and your Wife's Van. Loved the Song from Down Under. That radio will be great when you get it done. I am looking forward to more from you. As always My friend I liked and shared. All my very best to you and yours. May the crooks who stole your Wife's van get whats coming to them !
hey my friend Bobby....thanks, looks like cops don't investigate stolen cars anymore, so the insurance will pay off the finance company, and the thieves win again...it's getting sad 😔......take care ..🙏
@@Buzz1151 I hear you my friend. They get a pass while we pay the price. You take care also.
Sorry about all the bad news buzz! Hopefully everything is on the up now . That song at the end is the unofficial Australian national anthem. Great vid as always mate !
thanks peter, glad you liked the video! here's a free fry for you 🍟
Don't be embarrassed about the 97' Cavalier. Backup vehicular here is 97' 626 Mazda 2.5L. No shame at all with classics. Great restore this far Buzz TNX
🍺🍺
Very interesting Buzz…erd 🤔. Looking forward to the next vid 👀 Hope things are going well in your part of the planet 👍
Thank you kindly
Sorry to hear about your wife's car, Buzz. Better call the insurance company. Did David send along some more stained undies for the cabinet refinishing? That should cheer you up! Glad Peanut's feeling better and thanks for the "Oh's," I love that girl!!
no undies 😂🤣....the "OH" girl is great! haha
What did Andrew "Dice" Clay say about Little Boy Blue? Oh yeah, "He needed the money" lol
Thanks for that, Buzz! That made my day!! 🍺🍺🍺
😂
I wonder how many thousands of times that radio has played that song
tons of times
no worries if buzz 1151 does the job it will look great on top and down under.
haha , yes it will! 🍺🍺🍺
Thanks Buzz.
thanks Mike🍺
In capable hands (not quite pants on arrival, but not far off). Good to see that Peanut is ok and that your wife wasn't stolen.
Peanut is an old gal, but hopefully she has a year or 2 left.🙏
Hi Buzz!
I just stumbled on to part 2 and realized there must be a Part 1 somewhere on the internet. I just found it. Yea! Nice sounding radio. My notifications were turned off. That rat bast***, Dickel has been fooling with my settings! Speak to him for me, OK?
I'm sorry to hear about the Mrs. Buzz-mobile getting stolen. I hope it is recovered in good shape and returned. The good news is that Peanut pulled through and will live to bark another day.- Thomas
hi Thomas, good to see you..the wife's van was never recovered, she now has another one, Peanut is still kicking, but she is getting old. 🍺🍺
Great job buzz. Bye the way we pronounce Aussie as Ozzie. Cheers mate
like Ozzie Nelson!...cheers 🍺🍺
I should have the problems you have Buzz, and cheesh tweaker hippies stole the wife's car no less! So Dave sent you a
POS i.e. lemon of a radio but it is nothing you can't fix. Seems it wants to work it just needs that magic Buzz touch. So
glad that Peanut is on the mend. The John from Arkansas skit was funny especially the photo of him with a Teddy Bear
and baby bottle in his crib. Just fantastic stuff and only part one! Steve from Chicago
hi Steve, glad you liked the video! , cheers 🍺
The Australian electric plug is actually an American design. Back in the early twentieth century the us tried to implement an earth pin on the plug but because it was incompatible with the existing us two pin sockets it never gained traction. Somehow Australia New Zealand and china decided to use it.
🦘♥
BUZZ: i rewatched ur video , where u said u went down under once, and liked it. Another Ausie restorer ch name= Don's old radio shed- made a video maybe a year or longer ago of a trip he and his better half in New Zealand it has some nice landscape videos. Thanks Buzz for your videos
🍺🍺
Great International Old Buzz 1151! I do hope your dog is better. Also you can get your wife's car or the insurance money. Best wishes!
hi Boris, peanut is doing well....as for the Van, the lienholder gets the insurance money, damn thieves!😒
Hey Buzz!! Sorry to hear about your wife's van being stolen but glad to hear that Peanut is doing okay🐕🐕. Going to enjoy you restoring this radio(with proper licensing of course) while the Billy Boils 🫖🫖and watching out for bloody Rooo's!! 🦘🦘🦘 Cheers Mate! P.S. I recall Buzz and John getting into potato growing contests awhile back..........
i was the undefeated potato king! 🥔🥔🥔
I haven't heard that Waltzing Matilda song in decades, thank you for playing that one Buzz. Boy if you can't restore that radio from down under, we will stop viewing your channel, just kidding. 🙂👍🧙♂🎶📻

*WATCH IT!* Those three-point plugs are *FAR BETTER* than those used in America! They're *FAR SAFER* as there's *ONLY ONE WAY TO INSERT THEM INTO THE SOCKET!*
it was a joke,
Two speakers? DOUBLE THE FINGER FUN!!!! 😂❤😂
😂
Buzz,
Not only did the thieves steal your wifey's van, but they also stole the original note I included with that highly technical 2-knob radio. I knew you couldn't fix it.🤣
Regards,
John
Buzz,
Per the Oxford Dictionary-
Verbatim: "Exactly as spoken or written synonym word for word."
Shame on you for forcing poor old Dickel to fix that highly technical 2-knob radio for you. Off camera, he probably does 98% of your so-called repairs and restorations.
And for the record...my sleepy-time jammies are red. 😋 And it was good to see Peanut again.
Regards,
John
@@joernone 😂🤣
Cool!!!!!
👍👍
Where did you get such a clean copy of that Little Rascals music. I have a "tombstone" super heterodyne made by U.S. Radio from 1927 I want to rig up blue tooth and be able to play old timey stuff like this on it. I'm looking for old music like this, jazz, country music, old commercials and news broadcasts, anything I can get my hands on. I always thought the Little Rascals music was cool and I'd love to get hold of a copy.
just google Beau Hunks play little rascals and Laurel and Hardy music.🍺
Crikey! Buzz! lat looks like more fun than finding a Joey in your undies. Well what can you expect from a place where the water goes down the loo the wrong way.... Sorry to hear about those tyrannical Portland thieves. Pretty standard fare considering who is in charge of the state.... You could always move down to Cottage Grove! nice little town only 10K people. God bless bud.
yeah, living behind enemy lines isn't always easy! 😒😒
hay buzz, get Peanut a can of Alpo, yum yum!
btw, howz about a cookin vid, bern a long time. Old John from Arkansauce made something like cheekin caciatore. Pethaps you can try making a vegemite sangwich.
i don't do that stuff anymore....let John do it. .nobody will watch.
Do the tube wiggle. Is that anything like doing the hustle? Get better Peanut!
😂
Oh no, joernone aint gots his nightynite radio! How can Dickel be so meam to John? Maybe Dickel stole wifie's car too! BAD BAD BAD BAD DICKEL!
😂🤣
Buzz 👏👏👏👏
👏👏👏👏
3XY mate! Melbourne station. You were not cool if you didn't listen to 3XY in the 70s.
what was the frequency of 3XY?
@@Buzz1151 Melbourne, 1422 kHz AM. Looks like they’re a Greek language station nowadays. Melbourne has a big Greek heritage population. Back in the day, 3XY was the number 1 station for top 40 rock n roll and pop music.
I'm looking to get a radio restored. Where are you located?
I dont have a restore business.....vote Trump!!
I see the problem... That radio has lost it's Aussie accent..
yes it did!
You're laughing, but you should keep that Chevy running as long as humanly possible. Every year cars are getting ever more intrusive and dystopian.
Hi...the laughing was an inside joke for my family 😂...they make fun of it, but it has never failed me till the tensioner snapped, and that was a an easy fix!....I love my 27 year old Cavalier, and will probably keep it till I drop dead!. You are right about the new cars getting ever more intrusive ! cheers..🍺
I was expecting you would be picking up Cricket, not baseball.
😂
Australians don't like dogs. Me being a dog lover it wouldn't be a happy place for me.
Australia is a country obsessed with dogs. There are an estimated 28.7 million pets here, and we have one of the highest pet ownership rates in the world, with dogs being the most common.....from Google Austrailia
I don't know where you got that one from mate, most people I know have at least one, and often two or more dogs!
We actually have a Catahoula Leopard dog, American bulldog cross. The Catahoula is a southern hound dog breed originally from Louisiana, and I'm an Australian, however.. I live outside of suburbia in a small Country town. 👍
@@Buzz1151Good on ya Buzz
Yes they love dogs have very intelligent breeds. When the Beatles played there, they trained a pack of dogs to stand in for the sick drummer. An actor sat at the drum kit miming..while the clever hounds beat out rhythms behind him with ther paws an tails.
@@triodehexode I think your coupling grid is broken...
Sorry, but that one one of the most boring stupidest beginnings I've ever had the misprivilege (sic) to watch. I turned off 3 mins in.
