    Maa Pataneshwari Temple is a Hindu temple in Sambalpur, Western Orissa. The temple is located within Sambalpur city limitsThe temple is dedicated to Maa Patneshwari who is an incarnation of the Goddess Durga, Goddess Patneshwari is the presiding deity of the Kingdom of Patna.
    Maa Pataneshwari Temple was built in the late 16th Century by the first Chauhan Ruler of Sambalpur, Balaram Dev, in the heart of the City which was earlier known as Patnagarh. The sanctum wherein the deity Maa Pataneshwari is established lies inside in a circular design, the presiding deity who is an incarnation of Goddess Kali is very influential and has a pivoting role among the people of Orissa.
    Every year thousands of devotees and tourists from all around the Country visit this temple with their prayers and offerings, the holy shrine inside the temple is said to be blessed and brings good luck in Marriages, Health and Longevity of one's husband.
    The temple has a vivid architectural details all over the establishment, from the entry gates to the shrine where the Goddess resides. Upon reaching the temple, one can see the meticulous work done by the craftsmen and small idols of different incarnations of the Goddess all over the entrance. More designs of mermaid like creatures can also be found on the front gate is symmetry to both the sides.
    Keeping the visit a day affair is strongly suggested as evenings see huge crowd gathering all around to visit the temple and show their respects and pray. Maa Samaleswari Temple can be visited during timings 6:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
