John Yossarian She wasn’t terrible either, just a little weak and unprepared. Imagine what would have happened if, instead of putting her on the spot, Bojack had asked to hear her sing first? And gone to her with his idea before setting up an audition with Flip and Princess? If she’d had time to prepare, maybe she would have done well, instead she’s given up on her dream. Bojack made fun of her when he found out she liked musicals, then made it worse when she tried to connect with him, then set up the surprise to make Himself feel better. Gina said it herself. At no point were her feelings given any consideration. It’s the thought that counts, and Bojack didn’t think.
@@O_Towne_Bear intentions doesn't really matter as much as you think, if you do something shit you did something shit, the thought doesn't really matter and here Bojack was trying to make himself feel better if he had thought more he could have actually help her
I love all the discussion about asexuality! You're right that it can be hard for asexuals to find other asexuals to have relationships with (though dating sites and support groups make it easier nowadays!). But some asexuals can have romantic relationships with non-asexual partners too. For example, asexual and polyamourous people often go really well together, since the partner that does want sex can get that need fulfilled by other people, and the asexual partner doesn't have to feel any pressure to be sexual. This has been a PSA :)
As an asexual it's been frickin amazing to see open representation about it, Bojack horseman does it amazingly. I was literally in the same situation as Todd b/c I had a girlfriend who I was just with because we both met and were asexual. Seriously great to see them talk about this stuff!!! :D
This is such a great episode for Todd's plot line to me, because in tv and society there always seems to be arguments about the validity of relationships, typically ending in "they never kiss or have sex, so they are not in a real romantic relationship." It's as if people don't put any weight in the simple desire to exist side by side with someone. I love the way Todd is never painted as the weirdo. Instead the "sex positive" family is painted as weirdos for their hyper sexuality.
I think it’s nice to show an ace plot line that’s funny. So many other hollywood ace references are coming out/doctor appointments in media it’s generally depressing overall in it’s portrayal. And not focused on because it’s boring compared to the sex-positive/male-gaze/magazine visually sexual/appealing to a semi-horny audience (adults). If it’s adult content you need to curse and have a kiss atleast or sexscene. Drinking smoking fighting illicets etc that’s what’s adult content. Making sex funny for both asexuals and sexual people is kinda great to see it was perfect for an adult dark comedy. Where the whole episode is basically Todd survives sexual assault in an escape room with all the clue-like family members normalized to hyper-sexual situation/content. (Also that Todd has full or semi-complete understanding of what’s happening and references to sexual things hes not someone who unaware as to what body parts look/do what lube is or different scenarios. He’s not infantilized through naïveté he’s still an adult with adult understanding and treated that way.) ‘You didn’t say AOoGa?’ because you didn’t have the boner-response to it, but because that’s what the moms expecting to hear like a Pavlov response to exposing herself. It’s not because he didnt understand what Aooga means in context or it’s definition or that it’s even a word
@@arianaink100 yes! Fantastic explanation of the episode. When I see shows that can’t write romance without characters kissing/hooking up (typically with a different person every couple weeks) that is when I start thinking writers don’t actually know what real relationships are. I love when Todd is with the mom and he genuinely believes her dropping the robe is an unfortunate embarrassing moment, because he didn’t want to see her like that. Due to the hyper-sexualized environment of the society the show frames, Todd was concerned about her “feeling pressured” into showing herself off, a very kind and understanding thought process.
Everyone is talking about the amazing timing that this released on Valentines Day, meanwhile I'm chuckling because I decided to wear my Ace (asexual) t-shirt today.
The asexual story is absurdist because it’s playing on the “hiding from my parents I’m gay” thing. It’s just showcasing how ridiculous those stories are by using asexuality in a hyper sexual family rather than a gay person in a heteronormative one XD
11:58 OMG, I never noticed Flip actually eating those blue popsicles that come into play in ep. 10! They set this up all the way back in ep. 3 (maybe even earlier and I missed it)? Jesus, the writing in this show...
I feel like Mr. Peanutbutter is emotionally stunted. As it was mentioned in an earlier season, celebrities stop growing once they get famous. The reason mr. Peanutbutter's relationships get younger and younger, is hes finding someone whos on the same emotional plain as himself. Hes young at heart, and, ironically, hes said himself, hes an old dog, and never going to change.
I was telling my parents that this was a really good show and that they should watch it. So I decided to watch the next episode with them. This was the next episode. Fuck my life
Agree with the argument, but not with the conclusion. There should always be an option for a continuation of discussion if someone has something to say. Free flow of information ftw.
"I've never seen The Wire, and I don't think I'm gonna" Lol that's the first time I've seen shade thrown at that series. And ironic that Aaron Paul is a main character in Bojack, because Breaking Bad can be seen as a competitor to The Wire.

The thing about Gina is she isn’t a bad singer. She’s good, but only just good. She’s not a great singer, and that’s why she failed the audition.
She sounds like those theater kids that just try and sound kind of like sound track
She could take lessons and really try, but she just gives up at her first failure.
The guys still seem to have trouble understanding that doing something nice is great, but you need to make sure the person wants it first.
She wanted to sing though
