      @@JSyntax yeah man of course. I bought my first smart bulb because of your video. I've always wanted to get into smart tech and I've had a real shit time getting out of bed in the morning so your video pushed me over the edge. I still need to set up IFTTT but so far so good. Thanks again man.

    Thanks for the great video! I just got a Mi smart LED and I'm trying to follow this procedure with it but Mi home doesn't seem to be supported by IFTTT. I do see a form of IFTTT mechanism in the mi home app, can i use that or the other possible option is that yeelight seems to allow me to link my mi account but when i do this it's not fetching the devices on my mi home account. What's the workaround? Thanks
    EDIT: ok the Mi home app seems to have its own IFTTT ability.. will try it with that

    There is an alternative to the lifx bulb. If you want you could get the sleep smart bulb from ge if you don't want rgb but has warm and cool color temperatures

      have you had success with these bulbs? they sound great theoretically but many reviews on Amazon are negative, saying connectivity is poor.

    The wake up light is not really a wake up light if it turns on only after the alarm goes off. By any chance have you figured out how to make the lights gradually increase in brightness like 15 min before the alarm goes off? That's would be amazing!

    • @JSyntax
      @JSyntax  5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Yes, just use the event "alarm_alert_start" instead of "alarm_alert_dismiss".
      I prefer when I dismiss the alarm, but you can easily set it to when the alarm sounds. And yes, you simply can set an alarm sound delay, but still have the lights turn on using the Sleep As Android app. Let me know if that works for ya! This setup is flexible

      @@JSyntax Just received one Lifx mini today just to see how I like it. They are pretty cool. I'm experimenting with the bdrm nightstand lamps to see what potential there is to get a gradual lighting in the morning for wake up. So I am only working with one bulb but what is the path to find the "event-alarm-start in the app? I'm not seeing it. Or is there a better way. Your post on that is from a year ago so with any with updates since then, its probably not quite the same as a year ago. I was kind of hoping I could make due with Lifx instead of the Philips, bulbs, hub:). If not...I guess I'll return them and be forced to the Philips.
      Thanks ahead of time:)

      For those wondering the same question a year later, Sleep as Android now has a setting called "delayed alarm sound start" that you can set for 10 minutes (for example) and light will trigger via IFTTT 10 minutes before sound starts.

    Like @JSyntax, I was struggling to wake up, headache "hangover-like", trouble focusing during the day, memorizing...
    It appeared I had sleep apnea.
    That shit can really fuck your life, not kidding! If you dont feel restored even with healthy sleep behaviors, you should seek medical advices!
    Apart from that, sleep apnea increases by a lot risks of strokes!

    Sleep As Android is the BEST sleep and alarm app there is. Perhaps at some point, they'll do an iOS port, because some of my friends can't use it.
    It controls your entire sleep environment, from when you're getting ready to sleep (or should be) to how you want to wake up. I use Alpha wave entrainment in the AM coupled with Hue lights that go from artificial sunrise to energizing blue rich light. And then IFTTT takes care of the rest.
