  • This video is aimed at beginners who are new to the hobby or new to Futaba. It covers an overview of configuring Flight Conditions on the T18SZ. I’ll show you how I setup all of my models and how to create and configure your own Conditions.
    Let me know if there is anything else you would like covered.

    Thanks Matt. Only for you explaining how to set up conditions and rates i'd have my head melted trying to follow Futaba's less than user friendly manual.

      Hi, sure I have that set up on a number of my models. I normally have the Rudder in a dual rate to give me extra movement regardless of what condition I’m on.
      The catch is you have to setup the dual rate on each condition. I normally define the first condition, with the dual rate. Then just copy that condition and adjust from there.
      I’ll create a video showing this, will try and get it done this week. It will be on the T26, but it’s the same software and setup.

      @@MattTakharRC if you could create a video, it would be great.
      I've set up a sailplane. Normal, camber,flaps,spoilers and landing are my conditions and your video helped me set up the rates for each one.
      Futaba do complicate things at times

    thank you how do you set conditions when you want to trim a plane with the gear down .So when you put the gear up again back to the old flight trim .

      That’s a great question and something I’ve not done. My initial think is to apply a mix with the gear switch, rather than conditions.
      For example mix the a bit of elevator in when the gear is deployed, presuming that’s what you need. Like you would when mixing flaps and elevator. Does that make sense?
      I don’t think you can do it with trims as I’m believe they are independent of flight conditions.

    Great tutorial matt.
    I'm going converting from 14sg to 18sz soon. In 14sg conditions can be done in the conditiin menu but all the condition setting have to done in the Trim mix menu!
    I see you are doing it in the AFR menu which the 14sg does'nt have an AFR menu.
    Just wondering would it be better to do it in the trim mix menu or the AFR menu when i get the 18sz? Thanks
    I see you use

      Thanks for the feedback.
      I’ve always done my conditions setting in AFR. I’m not even sure if the 18sz has a trim mix menu. It doesn’t sound familiar, I may be wrong. I’m not at home at the moment so can’t easily check.
      You will enjoy the 18sz, it’s a great step up from 14SG 👍🏽

      Thanks for the reply matt. Yes i seen another video where a guy did his conditions through the trim mix menu on the 18sz. Was just wondering which one is best to do it on

      Sorry matt. You are correct. I had my 18sz on glider mode which does trim mix. I mostly fly gliders.Yours i would assume was on plane mode which does'nt have trim mix

      that would explain it! Good spot. Mines always on plane mode. Futaba tends to change the menu downing in model mode and wing type 👍🏽

    Not quite sure what the advantage of conditions are over doing dual or triple rates. Am I missing something?

    • @interman7715
      @interman7715 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I can see what you mean ,this fellow has over complicated it imo.He could have just set up triple rates with a lot less ginning around. Flight conditions are mainly used for complicated models for example a landing condition where one switch set flaps down and landing gear down and maybe different rates on control surfaces. I fly aerobatic 35% planes and just set triple rates on one switch for all my flight regimes .

    • @MattTakharRC
      @MattTakharRC  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No you’re not. You can do it either way in fairness. I’ve always done flight conditions as it’s what I’m used to. Rates would also work

    Matt Im attempting to program a cortex gyro in my 50cc airplane. I'm using T18SZ and would like to assign SE switch with stabile flight and the LD to fine tune and Hold with RD to fine tune. do you have a video that would cover that? Regards Mike

      Hi Mike. I see what you’re trying to do and it’s a great idea. I don’t have a video but I will look into it. I’m not sure if it’s possible as I’ve not done it before. But it sounds logical

    futaba has been my tx of choice especially as i dont really like programming but after 2 tx batteries failed on me i have changed to radiomaster....much superior opensource TX and once you get the hang of it its great....and so cheap...futaba is a rip-off and their technical support in the UK is terrible. The menu’s on futaba make little sense and you find yourself going around in loops.

      Wow sorry to hear about your issues with Futaba. Two TX batts failing is crazy. I’ve never had one go bad.
      I’ve not used a radiomaster but hear good things.
      I think most people tend to stick with what they know. I flew Futaba when I first started, hence I went back to Futaba when I got back into the hobby a few years ago.
      I do think they need to up their game when it comes to the software.
