I've rejoined the farked up club recently due to kidney failure. All my plans, projects, work and study are now on hold as the most I can manage to do right now is get out of bed, make a cup of tea and go for a walk. It's somewhat confronting facing one's own mortality, but it does make one reevaluate things. As the Bible says the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Go steady.

Mate . Been in your position. I was really sick once but had to give dogs a run . They caught a good boar 120lb which I started carrying. Dog went off and grabbed a big sow . Unfortunately they held her and did bit of damage. So I had to stick her. I got first pig up to the clearing but I didn't have anything more in the tank and a fat sow rotted in the bush. But I know of a few hunters that only carry out jaws . Who kill pigs just for fun take a photo and leave them . But each to there own I guess.

It comes through in your video that this was an obvious struggle for you, clearly physically, but more so mentally and emotionally. You have respect for the boar you hunt, and as such you spread the message to others to also be respectful of 'the hunt'. Killing for no reason, or not hauling the meat off the hill is the respect for the animal and the sport that all hunters should have. Your motto of "if you make the kill it comes off the hill" is valuable to veteran hunters and beginners alike. Be responsible, be respectful, and be appreciative of 'the hunt' and the animal. Your inability to not get the meat off the hill was not due to lack of effort. You didn't simply shoot an animal, take a picture, and drive off. You and the dogs hunt with the respect and appreciation that all hunters need to. Physical limitations, dog/human injuries, or simply human safety come before this motto. Your actions do not make your motto unimportant or less meaningful, if anything it shows even more why it is important. You made this video with sadness and distress clearly visible. You feel ashamed of what occurred, you feel saddened and that is exactly why your motto and the way you respect 'the hunt' is PERFECT. Brush it off mate, you're a role model. I see it as this... A fisherman catching a different/rare fish species by a foul hook set releases the fish knowing it will likely die. It never feels good in the gut, it doesn't make the next cast easier knowing it could happen again, but you are mindful and respectful of safe fishing practices and adjust the best you can. Bottom line, I really appreciate the honesty of the video, the heartfeltness of it, and hope that you brush it off and keep that motto alive. It is as important as the first day you uttered it and teaches respect for your craft. Cheers mate and I hope your next hunt is a bigger one and closer to the truck or with a young buck with you to lug it! -All the way from an island in Maine (U.S.A)

Right there with you. Dont knock yourself over events that happen like the boar. Keep wearing that life vest rig you have. Why yo ask...one of my best houndsman friends who i hunted decades with while fighting parkinsons disease till his early 60's finally give up hound hunting and took up fishing. Long story short he went out of boat and drown. Hunting was more forgiving on his illness but river took him fast. If i was you thinking on my comment you already read about pack and your vest i wonder if you had took time to juice up with some caffeine or electrolytes, food etc. coupled with de-boning would had a better outcome. I would like to measured your blood sugar i bet it was super low by time you started crashing in woods. I worked in forestry and had a vegan work for me in his 40's and he had to eat non stop to fuel his self through the day,he was a wildland firefighter most of time and in top shape and helped in timber dept when things got slow. Also if de-boning lets dogs fill their bellies too,i have done that before in past. Dont be hard on yourself.
You are bang on bro. I gave up caffeine but I am going to start using it for these hard long back country hunts. Its rocket fuel to me. I am heading back into the mountains very soon so will give it a crack. There are adventures to be had.
Clay you are a public figure, you are always going to get critics why are you even making this video it seems like an apology video you did your best you were asked to do the kill, it was a big pig ,you have health issues pigs are a pest and can be destructive don’t bother responding to critical critics it’s easy being a critic harder actually doing things lots of critters do jack shit except whinge and morne to be their happy fark them
Believe me this is not an Apology bro. This is an video of me excepting my limitations and letting all my bro's know that it's ok to fall down and not be able to get up some times as we grow older.
My back would be a lot better now if i had left some meat behind in the past .You can only eat so much meat and if you take it all then it will be a lot longer before you go out for another hunt.
