Notes: Metallica was scheduled to play "King Nothing" for the MTV Awards, but instead played "Last Caress" (which references killing babies and rape) and "So What" (which references bestiality among other things) in response to MTV asking them to alter their performance for them.

I remember this, I still have it on VHS somewhere. This was the very first European MTV awards, and MTV repeated it constantly for about 2 weeks afterwards. The Metallica segment was cut from every single broadcast except the live one, haha.

the tv footage was actually cut, but this wasn't, my dad said he watched it with his buddies and it cut to commercial about 40-50 seconds into "So What?"
