To anyone who thinks this is boring to watch......I gaurantee you this is not boring for the drivers! As a long time trucker, I can tell you that even a stock, 2 axle, daycab truck is pretty quick when bobtailed. (no trailer) These guys are hauling ass around that track.....perhaps not compared to a race "car" , but in a semi-tractor....that is flying. Its a lot of work to drive these trucks normal. Hitting the right gears, keeping the brakes from locking, and not sliding the backend has got to be tough at those speeds in tight quarters.
They are supposedly, capable of hooking any standard trailer up to them. But I doubt any of the modern monsters ever have. They are not really road legal anymore, what with running on slick tires and all. But, back when the sport was young, in the 1980's alot of trucks were actually roadgoing racing trucks. And during the very first Donington race, an italian driver arrived at the track, with trailer attached, unhitched, took the silver medal, put the trailer back on and went to deliver it.
Due to trucks having more weight to stop etc, brakes get hot incredibly quickly, so they have a watercooling system to prevent them from shattering etc.
This is cool. What are they using for power plants? Doesn't look or sound like a diesel, so I would assume it's petrol. I would like to see them on a slightly wider circuit.
this is a 12l turbo charged diesel engine. Especially on this track in Belgium the truck race is very special. The stands for the visitors are very close to the track, just 10 meters on the last corner. Believe me, this is a very special feeling. I have also a videos from the Nurburgring Truck-GP. see on TH-cam jFkA2vWTkSQ
are all of these trucks manual transmissions and if so, how many gears do they have, if I am thinking of the correct number, these drivers must shift at least 500 times if not more during a race, but now I am having a feeling that all these are automatics
It's a requirement. They also have the original steel truck frames instead of some carbonfiber frame, or something like that ... it's to keep the "truck" in truck racing, instead of ending up with some prototypes that have nothing to do with actual trucks. They also have a minimum weight they have to reach.
It does exist and it's called "FIA European Truck Racing Championship". There's also "Formula Truck" series which is held in South/Latin America, I think. Or just search "truck racing" on YT. lol
Funny that there is this arguing going on: This is boring to watch. No it isn't. Yes it is. Just let everyone decide what is boring to watch on it's own... I also think it is quiet boring to watch, not because of the fact that this is a truck race, but there just is no action in this clip... Yea a fast going truck is spectaculare, but a qualifying lap would do the same job here... I'm sure that there are races on wider tracks where is way more action ;-) Sorry for my english... :D
also crazy thing is this aint no race; no one is passing and guy in the back must've got scared to pass or something hes trying to take the guy in a curve instead of jammin his gears on the straightway
I remember when I used to watch this all the time, but haven't seen it for a lot of years, this may sound corny but, just one I would love to see them actually attach trailers to these trucks and see how well they do going around the course......and the smoke I see coming off of the trucks tires, this is normall I guess, How come I see this, the smoke coming off the tires here and almost never see this happening in NASCAR??????
motorsportvideo Hello, you said these are water cooled brakes, so there must be hoses that spray water onto the the brakes, is this correct, and if so, that must mean there must be tanks located somewhere on the truck that hold the water for those hoses, and if I may inquire, if there are tanks for this, about how much water do these tanks hold, and if/when these truck make their pit stops, is filling up those tanks usually a part of the main pit stop? Thanks.......

The coolest racing video I have ever seen!
That’s cool, amazing how fast they go.
Les courses de camion...c'est spectaculaire...
Love this truck races.Love them even more from inside :D
Das muss eine der schwachsinnigsten Rennsportarten überhaupt sein, aber doch irgendwie geil.
i would pay to see my favorite driver in this PoV view live every week.
Les courses de camion...c'est spectaculaire...ça touche...

Great Racing Trucks !!!!
that's was amazing !!!
its not all about speed, is it?
Precision I think its all about AND braveness
Riveting. I was there all the way. Unfortunately not many opportunities for overtaking.
next weekend again truckrace on Circuit Zolder. 22.-23.september 2012
why do they still have the trailer hitch? is that a requirement or do they haul stuff during the week?
Did you really upload a full fucking FIA truck race from in truck? This is amazing..
what is that steam coming from the front wheels ?
Due to trucks having more weight to stop etc, brakes get hot incredibly quickly, so they have a watercooling system to prevent them from shattering etc.
So they are still able to carry a trailer ?

how can anyone overtake in this race?
That's the way to watch a race.
This is awesome! But imagine riding a bike on the freeway and meeting this kinda scene! Hahaha. That's would be scary!
Маловата трасса, им бы на сильверстоун.
На нордшляйфе)))
So now we know what it's like to be on last place for the entire race LOL
thanks
its kinda hard to follow with all the passing
This is f*cking awesome and hilarious
So i.e. what the steam is. Thank you. I was sitting and wondering what the hell it was! :)

Why do they have a trailer coupling? :D
Nictostedt To make it more truck like and to add weight
pfff no one can take over... so difficult in truck race
I think they must use a little derby style to overtake other truck
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
A trailer coupling weighs around 200lbs. In a rwd racing semi truck the last thing you want is a rear with no weight on it :)
Awesome
Holy fuck this actually exists? LOL I want to watch!!!
It does exist and it's called "FIA European Truck Racing Championship". There's also "Formula Truck" series which is held in South/Latin America, I think. Or just search "truck racing" on YT. lol
nice Race, but it seems that they are revving their engines higher than 2500 rpm o.o
that black truck 2 places up was smoking pretty bad - didn't he get black flagged?
your probably looking at the break cooling smoke
Cyberdude88
otherwise known as steam, the black truck is coaling when off boost, which is within acceptable limits from my understanding
wish the game was as good as the real thing

is that what the puffs of smoke were? :L would never have guessed
either its poor recording or the guy's motor is missing like crazy.
This is so fuckin scary...holy shit...and it is wet track conditions...DAMN...I like this!
Loads should be delivered that way :D
WOW
nice
intense
also crazy thing is this aint no race; no one is passing and guy in the back must've got scared to pass or something hes trying to take the guy in a curve instead of jammin his gears on the straightway

MATT BOLIN

They actually made a game about these types of races
ดี
If UPS hired those drivers, deliveries would be way faster !
If it has wheels, people will race it ;)
use the wipers next time where the freakin camera is at!!
Львов-профи,у него хрен проскочешь! :-)
water-cooled brakes ;)
Really? I love watching the NASCAR trucks but Semi trucks.? Really?
it's so annoying watching him getting so close and the the other guy just pulls away like he has rocket boosters.....
this is fucking hectic
id feel safer in a smaller race car XP less scary

Mit Auflieger wär's lustiger !
