I want to Thank You so very much for your openness, your honesty, and cander about ostomies. I have worked in nursing for over 35 years and have delt with many ostomies during my career. I've seen children as young as 2 years old and elderly adults over 100 years old with ostomy. Many years ago before filters and vents were added to the bags there were many time when bags would pop open due to stool and gas build up. But with the newer bag designs this has all but ended popping or explosions. Don't worry about your ostomy or bag when it comes to relations as the right person can and will only see your heart and will love you always and forever.
Well explained - I wish I had heard a similar explanation before I had mine - I had to bumble through the issues as they came, even today i feel somewhat less than I feel I should but my partner is wonderful and she takes me as I am
Hi Iiris, i am watching your videos on TH-cam channel, talking about ostomy.. you are amazing person talking about your crohnic illness, you are great role model helping other people who suffer from crohns diease or coilits... i suffer from crohns diease and coilits... you were saying you having permanent ileostomy.. at least you have better quality of life now.. i have very similar condition to you i suffer from crohns disease and coilits, i had emergency bowel surgery 20th October 2021 surgeron took away 16 inches of small bowel i had 6 fistula and its was so close its was nearly hitting off my spine bone and i was close to septis too. my stoma was temporary i had it 9 months and i got reversed 20th may 2022... after that no looking back feeling good and healthy again. thank god...
Bravo! You will be helping lots of people just by talking about your experiences and knowledge is power. If there is love then sex will find its own shape and form. I met my partner after he had a stroke and our relationship is great….. I never knew him any other way so for us we are just the same as every other couple 🙂
To me personally, both a surgeon and a gynaecologist have said that there's no reason why I couldn't get pregnant or should avoid pregnancy. I know women who have an ostomy and have had healthy pregnancy. :) But of course any ostomate should talk to their own doctor about this! For example, there might be a time period after surgery when the body is still recovering and pregnancy should be avoided. :)
