I came back to this video to follow up on this repair. I did this repair by myself last year in late December. The replacement went fine with no problems but the other day I noticed one side was starting to get dim which is the side I didn't replace the strips as I only replaced one side of LEDs. I'm planning on fixing the TV again and using the 2nd strip I have left over from the last repair. This video has helped me tremendously and would recommend this video to people looking to repair their TV.
Thanks! Your thorough explanation and video helped me to fix my 70" Sharp TV. I was researching large TV's to buy and I saw this video. Found a loose ribbon cable connector on the backlights. It wouldn't stay closed so I found some appropriate plastic to keep it tight. You saved me from a possible argument with my wife if I bought an expensive TV too!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! My boyfriend and I were able to fix a 50-inch that my brother-in-law was about to get rid of for just over $30! You explained everything so well, and being able to see what you were doing as I was doing it too helped immensely. Much love!!
Thank you for this tutorial! I picked up this exact 55-inch from my local goodwill for 50 dollars with the mindset of, "it's this cheap for a reason, but whatever is broken I'll try fixing." Sure enough, the left led strip actually burned out (left some burn marks on the plastic layers of the screen). At first, I put the wrong led strip on (two came in the replacement kit) I think one is specifically for the left side, and the other for the right. But after I fixed that it worked gracefully! Thank you again for this tutorial and it is so surreal how a TV doesn't use any screws for its assembly.
In what can only be described as a shocking turn of events, I followed this video and only it only went and bloody worked! I was 200% sure I would mess up somewhere but the TV is right as rain! My friend, thank you.
I didn't have the suction cups so I tried it gently to pick it up with out bending it or put unnecessary pressure.. it Crack on the corner then I kick it to pieces in frustration... but the tutorial was spot on ! Thanks
I've done the exact same thing. I was so effin careful too. Nearly impossible without suction cups. I wish I wasn't so full of pride thinking I could do it without. Tore it apart and sold internals on ebay. Only thing to do other than Kung fu style
Just used this video for the 2nd time fixing my Samsung (same problem happened after 1.5 years). Thank you so much for a very thoughtful and comprehensive video!
I bought all the parts you gave the links to and to work I went... (two hours later) I got it!! I mean crystal clear. About a hundred dollar DIY. Not bad at all!! Thank you so much!!
Mission accomplished thanks to you sir! A 50" smart TV for about $30(replacement LEDs, like the tutorial). Your video broke it down Barney style. *Bleep the haters man. Stay well🤙🏽
You did a great job showing how to fix the issue. You explained every step and how to be careful. Many others don't show/explain. If I was adventurous and had another tv I'd follow your video to fix mine. But it looks like a purchase for me....and it WON"T ever again be a Samsung!
Thought I did it correctly. Ended up messing up so many times and flipping the tv over that I cracked the main black screen in several places. Really should’ve just given it to guys like you. I’m never buying a Samsung tv ever in my life again. Great video though.
Hey man, I'd just like to says thanks for this video. My 2 year old QN43Q60 Samsung TV went half dark & I was able to replace the faulty LED strip rather than throw it away & have to buy a new one. Keep it up, brother!
Wow you are a master. My Samsung has a bad left speaker just puts out static. I set the balance to right side and I got sound. My back cover looks just like the one in this video and I wondered how it is attached. I was afraid it was attached just like it is from your video. This style TV looks like a magnum pain in the ass just to get the cover off. Kudos for sticking with it and getting it back together and working.
Here's a tip. Get a bag of thin guitar picks. With the panel facing down pull the bezel clip back and slip a guitar pick in there so it won't re-clip. Do this all the way around except the bottom. Also undo your lower driver boards from their holders and then take a small piece of painters tape to hold them down. Then carefully turn your panel over and take small boxes to put under the chassis to hold it up away from the table. Pull the bottom of the bezel out first and unclip those clips and then the rest of the bezel will just come up as the guitar picks fall out. You won't have to lay on the floor like a Big Dog. To get the strips off easier score the backside with a utility knife and that will cut the adhesive and they will come off easier and you won't need to bend those clips back. I like to use blue painters tape on all four corners of the diffusers to keep them straight and in order. The edge lit Samsung's are a pain in the ass. The heat from the led's can crack or melt the diffusers.....sucks Samsung
Yes. On this Samsung 49inch TV im repairing the heat from the led's has melted the diffuser (perspex like 2nd 'window' above chassis") and caused 2 running cracks. They start from 2 of those melt spots.
Great tutorial! I just got a free Samsung 42" with flaky lighting on one side. I'm going to test the power board outputs and connectors first. Then access the LED strips if needed. Thanks BigDog!
Great Video! I have a 65" version model of the same TV (we bought for the spare bedroom around Christmas 2018) and had the inside half of the left side LED strip burnt out. Ordered the LED strips (only needed one, but they came as a pair), Pryor tool and suction cup handle grips for about $100. Ended up changing both LED strips out since I had 2x new ones. Took me about 2.5 hours total (2 hours to take everything apart and replace the LED strips, only 30 minutes to put it back together). Anyway...TV looks great and is working like a champ. Thanks For the video Big Dog. Much appreciated!
hi, could you please provide the model number of yours? i have a samsung un65nu6900f is it top and bottom led? or there is in the middle led strips? thanks
Hey man! Thanks so much for this video. I have the same TV with the same problem and I fixed it thanks to your walkthrough! Saved some serious $$$! I have no experience with big electronics so take it from me, if you want to try you can do this. I found the LED strips off of eBay for $25 and spent another $25 on an electronic repair kit (plastic pry tools and skinny tools) and some suction cups. $50 bucks on supplies and about 90 minutes saved me almost $500 in either a service call to Samsung or just buying a new TV.
I used 3 large flat blade screw drivers to remove the back and had no trouble. Once you get the corner up on the bottom, slide in another screw driver on the side and lift up on the handle until you here one of the clips pop and then keep moving around the perimeter. No damage. Even if there was any, you wouldn't see it from the front.
Great tutorial. Have a different model that was a bit different, but made no difference. The order of disassembly was still the same. Really appreciated your detailed explanation of the entire process. Thanks again. Have a blessed day.
Thanks for the video, I had a 65" NU6950 that had a good panel and a TU7000 with a broken panel. Turns out the lcd panels are the same but you have to destructivly remove the led panel from the 7000 bezel and then can stick on the 6950's panel. The difference between the two TVs appears to be edge lit leds with the Nu6950 vs backlit with the tu7000. My 6950 also had half the LEDs burned out and the diffuser melted.
Great video. Like taking a Masterclass. I had one helluva time getting the adhesive from the old LED strips off. I guess I rubbed too hard and loosened one of the black plastic corner pieces. It fell off the chassis. Managed to find it - all good. Waiting on the LEDs, just wanted to say thanks.
Oh yes big dog thank you enjoyed watching your work great information I will give it a shot I know I'll probably need the LED strips but I will test it just as you did and see how it comes out please let me know where I can get the LED strips
Fixed my 55 inch in a few hours and a trip to home depo to buy the suction cups ( you can find them in the tile isle for about 9 dollars a piece , return them after ) Thank you my man . Drop your cash app and I’ll buy you a beer 💪🏼
Great video bigdog! Just pick up this model at our local waste bin. Same issue. I've repaired a Sony in the past, but this will be my first Samsung. Thank you for taking the time to make this awesome video.
Thanks bigdog for your videos I've learnt alot from you as just learning to repair tv at home ⁷as I lost my son so it keeps me something to concentrate on
Big dawg! I’m 2-0 boss. I knocked out my sisters Samsung backlight issue which was basically an easy fix after watching you sit. Thanks again for sharing your wisdom because around these areas seems like no one wants to share anything these days lol. I have a Samsung un50js7000 that I just brought back from the dead and figured out it was a tcon issue I think
However, when I play with the lvds cable the back lights turn off and on. Eventually they got in sinc but am wondering was it really the tcon or is it the powerboard not giving enough juice to power it up ? Once again, thank you Mr big dawg! U are appreciated here in Los Angeles:)
Very clear and helpful tutorial. Samsung really screwed up fitting these particular back lights to the Six Series (also others maybe I don't know). They are total crap, and for most people the result is a new television. Talk about an eco train wreck. I commend you on your very clean tidy workshop. If only you lived near I would be happy for you to fix my UE49KU. :)
Mine is 3 years old. Same problem. Unfortunately I am not able to do this myself. But great video. I’ll get a new one and say a prayer. Maybe I can find a person who could fix it and use it. The appliance nowadays are not made like they were years ago.
very informative that will help me to repair my Samsung TV that has the same issue. especially on the measurements method and results that i can follow to verify. thanks very much for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for you tutorial, TV fixed and all for £30, Samsung do make it hard to replace such a simple component. Without your tutorial TV would be on the scrap heap and I would have forked out £400 + for a new one.
Hello Big Dog. I guess you should not open the tv in this way. You should take the wires out by using a hinge. That is the way to open this tv. Best regards from Buenos Aires. Have a very good new year 2021. You flat earther friend George!
I really enjoyed this video. Very informative. But, you know your on another level when it comes to this. An actual technician. Tomorrow, I am going to try and pop off the back panel (the reason why I am here), unplug and reconnect the strips, and if that doesn't work... I will mail u my Samsung un55nu7300, because if that doesn't work, I'm recycling it. You can have it. Lemme know. Thanks for the video, most relevant video on youtube... atleast let's me know what I'm in for... which is buying a new tv👍
Thanks, I've repaired a 49" version of this TV according to this tutorial. The only thing I didn't get fully right was the placement of the LEDs, so it's got a few bright spots on the bottom on one side, hardly noticeable while watching.
This video is on point 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾. However, for some reasons my LEDs didn’t light up when I tested it. However!!! Don’t get discouraged!!!! Once I put the tv all back together, it worked like a charm 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Next time flip the plexiglass sheet and the white sheet below it around. Notch out the bottom corners with a dremel tool to match since the bottom is on the top now. The picture is a little brighter at the bottom but not distorted by the crack and burn marks. Some models have a strip of white tape across the top edge, make sure to remove it before flipping it over. Love your videos you've saved me a lot of diagnostic time on models I'm not familiar with.
Does this really work if you flip the diffuser 180 degrees. I replaced both led strips and TV worked for a couple days, then the same shadow came back along the same area where the diffuser was burned and cracked. New diffuser panels are not available. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
The white spots the TV had bleeding through like the lines in bottom middle does that go away or is that a totally different problem cause I got that and dark right side
@BigDog8882 bro I figured it out holy crap mine was so charred. Thanks for the tutorial I gave you a shout out in my description th-cam.com/users/shortscFQTi6ITXh8?feature=share
Very useful.Thanks.. An important sugestion .... please use numbering for your videoes.this is useful to remember by visitors to review and return in the future .
Because Samsung is shit, that's why. They know this is a common issue with these TV's but sell them to not last you a year or two anyhow. Happened to mine too and only a year and a half old. Not spending another couple hundred to repair it only for the left side to go out in 6 months.
Around 38:50 I see you inserting two thin sheets? Are those a light filter and diffuser? Are they universal between similar size tv's. I am trying to find replacement material for my 32" samsung qn3250R.
Amazing video! Quick question. The gray glue strip that’s inside the front bezel (sorry if spelled wrong) I’m guessing is just to hold it firmly is coming out and want to put it back inside. Do I need to take out the back components to open the front? Just so I can push in place those gray strips in front. Thank you for your time boss.
Right on Scott. Please leave me a review at g.page/marc-anthony-tv-repair/review?gm. That would help me out a whole lot. Thanks again and have a very Merry Christmas!
My UN65RU7100 is almost identical inside however the problem with my backlight was simply the connector that passes through the steel frame. Pulling and bending on the wires on the connector would make them flicker on and off. Not as easy of a part to find, and I don't have anything small and rigid enough to tighten / close the contacts inside the connector.
I got the same TV, last night after some TH-cam I turn on my ps4pro and this happened. I unplugged TV 7ish mins didnt help switched it back to dynamic and bam full screen working. Haven't played a game today but thanks for this video more then ever !!
I had a 50NU7100 that some was about to toss out because of that issue. I took it off his hands purchased the led strip for $18. Followed all the steps got everything working. I started putting the tv back together. I didn't support the glass enough and the lcd screen cracked. Thanks for this tutorial you did great job explaining every.
🦈, I really like your video. I also repair televisions and I thought really coming home because your way is simular to my way. My style is trying to get from 2 broken once (one with broken screen and one with electronic problems) to get one with full function. I have now a lot of experience in this job but I still learn. I only repair Samsung and LG TVs. There is in my opinion the most chance to get success. Thanx for these really nice and really friendly video. Stay healthy. Regards from Germany. Markus
i have this same issue, exact the same TV, I have the bezel off and I can see that there are some LEDs not lit up on the bottom and top right side, so def this helps, gonna pick up a new set of LEDs!! thanks!! I got this tv for free, the guy was gonna throw it out because of the darker side. It's not black, just a lot darker.
hey boss, what's the name of the small metal part within the TV back panel - where you screw the screw to mount the TV.... two of mine broken.... need replacement part
Appreciate the video overall,,, Wouldn’t the first step be to switch the two LED “boxes” you unplugged first??? To see if the shadow moves to the other side? Otherwise, unless you are a TV repairman, this doesn’t seem like a DIY. 😊
Greetings from Puerto Rico, thank you so much for sharing this video with us. I wanted to ask you about in what order does the plastics sheets go. I have a Samsung model UN49M5300AF that I am trying to fix. And after removing them I miss place them and now I don’t know how they go. There is a soft one and a hard one. Can you help. Respectfully, Wilberto
Oof! Suction cup scar at 42:35...I dont use those for that reason. Too much distortion on the LCD seen @ 25:22. Those panels are so light when released that you can lift the edge up across the top and just support it with a flat board Im trying to replace those bad LEDs but your showing me that strip gets destroyed releasing from the heatsink. Oh well.
thanks for this great video!! I dissasembled my tv and I found the bottom plexiglass broke , and figured that was the cause of white light on the bottom og the tv .... where can I get the new plexiglass???
The very last white thin layer against the back was double sided taped to the back. It tore a quarter sized hole. What's this paper called? It can be rolled and shipped if I'm lucky. it's not stiff.
I just repaired one of these televisions. It really surprised me that there were almost no screws involved in the tear down to get to the LED strips. With the weight of the TV, I guess I just expected it to be built more solid. I actually used my cell phone repair kit to take it apart and put it back together. Most of it was done with a plastic spudger and a guitar pick. LOL It was my first Samsung repair, but the LG and Vizio TVs I have repaired were a nightmare. I definitely wasn't impressed with it and the price new is not a very good value at all, in my opinion.
I came back to this video to follow up on this repair. I did this repair by myself last year in late December. The replacement went fine with no problems but the other day I noticed one side was starting to get dim which is the side I didn't replace the strips as I only replaced one side of LEDs. @@brianboyd48 hahaha I feel you I told my wife "don't worry you got a man right here I will get it done!", and I did I bought her a new TV lmao 🤣

NO PROBLEM! Thanks for watching.
Wow you are a master. My Samsung has a bad left speaker just puts out static. I set the balance to right side and I got sound. Thanks for making this video, only having to pay $50 instead $500 for a TV of the same type is a huge win.
They start from 2 of those melt spots.

great video...thanks...just a question ..What is the main cause of LEDs being damaged?
Time
Next time flip the plexiglass sheet and the white sheet below it around.
I just flipped my diffuser 180, no dremel, slightly darker on the top now, but not bad
The white spots the TV had bleeding through like the lines in bottom middle does that go away or is that a totally different problem cause I got that and dark right side
Not sure. But I would say diffusser screen got messed up.
@BigDog8882 yeah im pissed this tv has never moved it isn't that old even and now I have to do this or get a new one
@BigDog8882 bro I figured it out holy crap mine was so charred. Thanks for the tutorial I gave you a shout out in my description th-cam.com/users/shortscFQTi6ITXh8?feature=share
@@DylanKowalski123 Next time you got my permission to mention my name too.. lol. Thank U!
Very useful.Thanks..
An important sugestion .... please use numbering for your videoes.this is useful to remember by visitors to review and return in the future .
Thanks, i followed this step by step on my 55" version. Now fully working again. 👍
Always seems to be on the right hand side no idea why
Great video BD
Same with my TV haven't had it 2 years yet.
Because Samsung is shit, that's why. They know this is a common issue with these TV's but sell them to not last you a year or two anyhow. Happened to mine too and only a year and a half old. Not spending another couple hundred to repair it only for the left side to go out in 6 months.
@@josron6088 same. 2 years old. 55" Samsung. Right side is dark as fuck.
@@cornpop9262 Sorry to hear that. I still haven't gotten mine fixed yet.
Thank you so much from Germany!!! 😊👌
Big Dog, I like watching your videos. Very good instructions, I have now repaired many because of your videos. Thank you so much for posting!!
Right on Scott. Please leave me a review at g.page/marc-anthony-tv-repair/review?gm. That would help me out a whole lot. Thanks again and have a very Merry Christmas!
@@bigdog8882 Are there any places that fixes TVs like this? If not my tv is going in the trash lol.
im in the process of fixing one of these i ordered the led lights seem pretty easy thanks for the video
Someone at my building let exact same tv with same issue, i can use this tutorial to get it fixed, thanks for indepth tutorial
Found your video kind sir🎉. Thank you for empowering us with your knowledge 👏🏽
Thanks for the detailed video!
My pleasure!
Markus
Exactly what is wrong with ours. Thank you for this video.
Great guide, but how do I find the right led strips for my tv? I have the 65" UE65NU7020
Good choice of background sounds
Thank you, this is exactly what is wrong with my tv. Now to find a you, in Milwaukee Wi
i have this same issue, exact the same TV, I have the bezel off and I can see that there are some LEDs not lit up on the bottom and top right side, so def this helps, gonna pick up a new set of LEDs!! thanks!! I got this tv for free, the guy was gonna throw it out because of the darker side. It's not black, just a lot darker.
Just fixed my TV with this video! Thanks! 🙏👍
Glad it helped
Excellent tutorial.
I had the same issue, half my screen gone dark on a Samsung 42". I simply undid and reseated all 4 ribbon cable connectors, and that fixed it.
Reseated?
@@cornpop9262 yes, wobbled back into place, made sure they were in properly. It's been fine since.
@@combatwombat71 did you clean them ?
Hi thank You for the vidéo. Sorry to ask but where can I get the leds ? What references and sizes ? Thanks
9:25 that power button tab that broke at the remote sensor was meant to last about 50 pushes before snapping off.
hey boss, what's the name of the small metal part within the TV back panel - where you screw the screw to mount the TV.... two of mine broken.... need replacement part
Are the long circuit boards at the bottom replaceable? I have a very similar TV and cannot find them anywhere
NO they are not. They are bonded to the screen via the ribbon cables.
@@bigdog8882 thank you sir, guess that TV is going out for trash.
Thank you Mr.. was really awesome too see how to fix my own SMART TV
Appreciate the video overall,,,
Wouldn’t the first step be to switch the two LED “boxes” you unplugged first???
To see if the shadow moves to the other side?
Otherwise, unless you are a TV repairman, this doesn’t seem like a DIY.
😊
Great video TY. I'm having this problem with my TV.
Awesome tutorial 😊
Thank you! 😊
Great video, Big Dog🐕! Gave me the confidence to try this repair. I will post a follow up on how it goes.
How did it go?
Oh well.
Iam going to attempt my 65inch Samsung same problem dark on the right side. Seems like Samsung are junk now .thanks for your videos.
Good luck!
Thanks big dog, you have inspired me, you Rock.
Thanks for your time to share good information.
My pleasure!
My diffuser had a big crack like yours plus 3 other smaller ones.
thank u so much i have lean something from u .u are my hero
I gues you need a "OKAY" counter. Thanks for the Video.
thanks for this great video!!
Good job sir watching here from Philippines
