Being shy (introverted as well) in the 80s is a terrible thing since we had no way of "expressing" ourselves without the help of internet and Facebook. It was more like looking at a wall. At least in todays time we can chat no matter how shy we are and still be heard.

@@fueledbymusic3 Yeah, i cant imagine, but honestly i think what we have today makes the new generation introvert for the most part, and like lazy that is, because we have the option to not leave our house, or even have to go out, and meet new people. Unlike the 80s, and 90s, you had no choice. I'm shy, not sure if im introvert all the way, depending on who i deal with, and how im feeling, but i would beleive both are different of course from one another, or shy can lead to being introvert, but what i do know is, it seems like based on what ive seen, 80s, and 90s vids from home videos to school videos, everyone seems extrovert lol.

Less accessibility. No eBay or Amazon to get stuff that sold out at stores and no smart phones you can use for entertainment purposes or to tune out the world at an instant You had to just deal with life with mind, body, and soul. You had to have patience and a strong mind. That's one of the reasons why the crime is extremely higher than today. There wasn't any type of technology that would distract the human mind enough besides walkmans and television. So the mind could easily wander and think about bad stuff back then in comparison to nowadays where the internet could possibly hinder that with visual distraction. You had to deal with people socially on a larger scale, thus, more violence and more crime

Remember everyone - you can still live in the 80's and 90's, it just takes some life adjustments that you have to be okay with. We can all choose to focus on other things, immerse ourselves within that mindset and do what we can to remember that time. Immerse and adjust - It can be done. Most of my family living in Idaho still lives this way, same music, similar clothes, centering social activities around music, food, conversation and a back drop of suburbia or outer city life. The world is always changing, but nothing stays changed forever. Its up to you!

This is why folks In their 30s and 40s are nostalgic about these moments. Kids who grew up in the age of smartphones have memories to look back on via the cloud. Meanwhile, folks who grew up in the 90s have to rely on video tapes (if you're lucky) or talking with an old friend who you grew up with. Each decade was special to those who admire it. I Believe the 90s and very early 2000s we're the last moments where people felt like they cared about each other. Kids played outside without a single smartphone or tablet. Kids stayed out until dark. You had to walk or ride your bike to see your friends without having them knowing you were coming.

Numerically yes it was the 90s like 2000 was the 21st century numerically but in terms of culture, technology, music, way of life, fashion, etc was still like the presciding decade the reason why is because people count decades, centuries or millenniums in numerical values I got aware of that until 2010 but technically speaking its not like that because people dont realize that people count from 1 and not from 0. And anyone who wants to doubt about it should look up if year 0 existed or not.

@@hectorroman9164, Of course 1990 wasn't like the 90's because the 1990's came in around 1994 or 1995 because 1990 was a transitional time from the 1980's so because of that popular culture and aspects of life obviously still felt more like the 1980's then the 1990's just like how the 1990's was to 2000-2003, the 2000's from 2010-2013, and in the 2010's from 2020-circa 2023. Because aspects of life will still been simpler to the decade before because the decade didn't grab itself an identity yet in it's early years. It doesn't even matter about the whole 0 or 1 thing because even in 1991 it wasn't mostly the 90's culturally yet even though it was a year in the 90's and in the 200th decade and it didn't matter if 1990 wasn't in the 200th decade it was the 90's so who cares.
it doesn't matter if year zero didn't exist it's just there's two ways to look at it because of it and even in the first term everything else was a full period even if it wasn't the first time around which was only once and the other thing which get's the full period the first time so there so just two ways to look at it. Numerical or calendar years changes won't matter because it was still a transition time in that decade so culturally until by the middle of it (no matter 0 or 1) when society would eventually adapt to it and that's way things can look very different at the end of the decade then the beginning of it.

This decade makes it hard for people to love their true skin, because of these unrealistic "standard" on how to look and be beautiful esp when all these "medical interventions" that are becoming too accessible to so many. And then there is the social media... 2000 decade really shows how to live in a fake life, filtered photos and videos, people flashing every single material thing they have, makes people more insecure and compare their achievements to others. The 90s taught me so much how important it is to actually be disconnected, because it only makes you want to focus on yourself without the need to compare.

Videos like these gives me a lot of refreshing memories and perspective on how I used to live in the 90s compared to today. Going out with friends playing street hockey, riding my bike with friends, even Super Nintendo and PS1 with no patches or online play so if you wanted to play with others your had to physically be there and it was a bonding experience.
Life today has drastically changed for the worse. I'm now in my 30s with depression from the lack of social ingenuity in our communities and the ways we bond in society post internet era, fabrication of almost every major news outlet telling you how to think and what to believe, and political agendas and ideologies being injected into all entertainment, corporate, and educational industries. People back then had much less access to mass media, Information in general, and to global events. Although there also happened a lot of terrible things in the past, they had less to worry about. Holidays still mattered.
    Now there is nothing.
    :(
We have everything except the most important thing in life.
    That human connection.

The 90’s was my childhood and I couldn’t be more grateful to have grown up in those days. Everything changed after 9/11 and then the digital age set in. Don’t think there’ll ever be another decade like the 90’s where the world is less chaotic, advanced but not so interconnected like today. It was a simple time, least my experience was.

I graduated high school in June 1990. I would say in a lot of ways life was the same, not counting this crazy pandemic coronavirus; but, I mean in terms of people. There were still pricks and jerk offs just like today. People trying to screw others out of money, cliques, bullying, etc. People really don’t change; it’s just the backdrop that changes.
