I think he is actually kind of in the edge doing this because in my opinion he is more used when they are playing as a band and of course a band compared to acoustic only is very different in many different ways so he's saying that incase he fucks up and cringes. But nice stunt by jm. Classic
Fans: I GET IT! People are yelling and it sucks. But I filmed and uploaded this so people could enjoy a lovely rare live performance, and I obviously had no control over other people in the club. Every day I get dozens of posts by people complaining about the background noise to the point where I feel like, gee, would they prefer I just delete the videos. Please just enjoy it for what it is. / end of rant.
I forgot to share that, after the set, I walked up to John and told him how beautiful his new songs were, and he seemed genuinely touched and grateful, and gave me a huge hug and we spoke a bit. I didn't know if he'd be friendly or an ass based on what I'd heard, but he could not have been nicer, and even tried to help me with my camera after the flash didn't go off for our picture.
I totally respect Zartimus for all the tutorials he does and you for recommending him to people but he doesn't quite explain how to play this perfectly ;( He gets really close! But there are a few errors ;( I sound like a bit of an asshole but I just love this video and have watched it literally a couple hundred times and was just the tiniest bit sad at the small mistakes in his tutorial. But yeah Zartimus is still the man :)
2:07 when you gotta remember your verse because you spent a year not saying a single word. John is such an incredible artist. I take him as the inspiration that he is, vices and all. This was such a raw and unique performance. I cant wait until my next JM show.
james payne it’s cool when there’s cheering in a stadium, I live for that shit, but it’s obnoxious when you can hear individual peoples voices in a lounge or a bar
That's a much nicer way than what I was thinking "I wish that vapid ibecile would just shut up so I could enjoy the song, all the shouting in the world is not gonna get him to notice you."
james payne it really isn’t. Music brings out involuntary reactions in all of us. Nobody should have to suppress their excitement at a FUCKING CONCERT. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 people are the ones that feel entitled. I’m gonna tell you right now that you are not entitled to a perfectly silent concert with hundreds of other people around perfectly catering to your concerns. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 are the ones that need to just shut up and just enjoy the music rather than shit on other people who are enjoying the music. There’s another video of John Mayer playing an amazing cover of watchtower and the crowd was completely silent and there’s jerks like you who take over the entire comment section complaining about how nobody cheered and John didn’t get the respect he deserved. So which is it? Silence or no silence? You can’t have it both ways. Make up your minds drop, keep to yourself, drop the holier than thou crap and let people enjoy music in peace.
This video proves the true purpose of TH-cam as a product - One fan happens to be at the right place at the right time with a good quality camera to witness the greatest live performance in the history & future of the entire universe, and uploads it for other fans to enjoy!
I don't think he's unhappy, I think it's just that at this point he had just spent a year essentially not speaking or singing. Probably nerves and/or trying to get used to performing again.
i keep coming back to this video, i love the way he played the guitar. Getting the same one some time in the near future hopefully :). Lucky you to attend this
That's talent! So raw...the thing I love the most about John Mayer, he may perform a song 100 times but it's always different...every single time...there's a special nuance to it...love love this acoustic version...very raw, pure and heartfelt!
His guitar is seriously on point! He is one of the greatest guitarist we've ever known. He adapts the Blues style picking in all of his songs, adding his licks and stuff. That's unique. That's what music needs. UNIQUENESS.
I'm so jealous of this guy's skills on the guitar... A mix of jealousy and deep admiration. Amazing version, thanks for uploading this! I'm baffled that people won't shut up, though. John fucking Mayer is playing!
It is quite amazing that John Mayer can take a song I've listened to literally 300 plus times in my life and do a slightly different version with amazing embellishments and solos and renew my love for the song that had become boring to my ear again. He's done this several times with several different songs too, it's incredible.
***** red hot chili peppers of course ;) and I love Toto, Alter Bridge and Foo Fighters aswell! And John Frusciante, Mayer and Lenny Kravitz are my favourite solo musicians! And you?
This was one of the first videos I liked EVER on TH-cam…and I’ve probably watched it 1k times. Thank you for uploading, again, and for helping make this platform the best for live performances
i love how this performance is simple, not too "over the top" (which, is always amazing if it's john playing), but this one could be my favourite behind the one Live in LA
Thanks. Glad to know people all over the world can enjoy these. I'm going to see him again on the "Born & Raised" tour, but don't know if I'll get this close again w/ my camera. :)
Thank you so very much for uploading this for all of us to enjoy! I seriously come back to this video monthly for the past few years. I actually like the girls and their talking and yelling, it adds to the whole experience. I hope I may someday be lucky enough to find myself at one of John’s secret shows.
I don't understand all the negativity towards the crowd. When you go to a gig, especially to a surprise and unexpected one like this, you aren't consciously thinking about how you may sound on someones phone recording that may or may not find its way onto youtube in a few weeks time, nor should you be. Pipe down and appreciate that they're actually getting into the music rather than standing their motionless.
I don’t have any negativity towards the crowd as a whole, just towards the chick that keeps screaming “GET IT IN JOHN.” Like cmon, this is an acoustic performance, not fucking Guns N’ Roses
dude makes a guitar sound like a whole band is behind him. His voice, wasn't even the focus here.. magical guitar work presented here, masterclass in rhythm, and muting.
mike cherry So true. I was standing a few feet away from the people yelling, but I barely noticed it at the time, because I was focusing on the performance.
Who would have thought that these recordings would be so valuable as a fan. Never thought it would be this long til' we heard him live again. Thanks for these vids!!
This is awesome. It's like he was staying at this hotel and everyone pressured him into playing, then he got up there and played the shit out of that guitar!
Thanks for your comments. I hadn't watched my own videos in a long time, and came back here and enjoyed some of them the last couple of days. I had no idea when I saw him at this venue that it would be one of the last times he performed live in so long. So glad I was there that night.
Sliw dancing in a burning room,my all time fav and this arrangement with another kind of simging technique just mkes it even better oh god how can it be that great ! thanks for the upliad new fav version
what I love most about this guys music, is that he ALWAYS has a solo acoustic number for any song hes ever played. Most of the people know him as the electric guitar player with the band behind him, but it shows that every song he ever composed starts off with him playing on an acoustic guitar. First thing Im doing next morning is try to get this one down :]
It is starting to dawn on me that, besides the ever so wonderful lyrics to this amazingly beautiful JM-song, i am also starting to 'sing along' to the crazy screaming lady-lyrics.. ^^
I used to think the version from "Where The Light Is Live in LA" was as good as it was going to get... Wow. I am blown away every time I listen to this song. Thanks so much violetskyye!
Tells crowd to lower expectations then goes onto play the tightest acoustic version of that song I've ever heard.
Classic JM
I know right? This is around the same time he cancelled a tour and had vocal surgery so he could have been eluding to his vocal performance.
He trolling us lol. Love this version
I think he is actually kind of in the edge doing this because in my opinion he is more used when they are playing as a band and of course a band compared to acoustic only is very different in many different ways so he's saying that incase he fucks up and cringes. But nice stunt by jm. Classic
truth
He always does that :D
When you're recording john mayer, always focus on the guitar, ALWAYS
Hahaha
Agree, and please don't yelling in the middle of his performance
I did 😂
My man 👌
Yeah. When god throws bunch of guitar talents in the world, and unfortunately I wasn’t there to catch some.
this chick said 'don't worry we'll sing it for you'. then went "hmm hmm hmm slow dancing in a burning room hmmm hmmm hmm"
Oath
flangerboy21 me lmao
John was so annoyed 😂😂
lmfao to be fair he hadn't really started playing yet but yeah i hate people like that
So it seemed haha
Fans: I GET IT! People are yelling and it sucks. But I filmed and uploaded this so people could enjoy a lovely rare live performance, and I obviously had no control over other people in the club. The majority of us are just saying they're annoying but the video and audio are really good I love john he's amazing!
Seriously though, I'm totally against violence towards females. But I'd get my wife to punch that bitch in the head.
Great song though.
Ungrateful people... For me it’s part of it, if you want to hear it clean go listen to the CD.
after listening to it like 50 times, I dont even notice the girls
I would just like to add onto this that if you're those type of people, you should stop...but still a great video. Thank you!
Like Clapton said I don’t think he realizes how good he really is
i do though
ehhh... he does
yeah, he totally does lol
Without taking anything away from John, is hilariously wrong.
Einer der besten
That was a drunk Katy Perry yelling.. "Get it in, John!! "
was it really?
@@15nicinho 100%

Seems legit
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Imagine meeting john mayer..
Lucky you🍀🍀👀💜
SOOO LUCKY
“Get it in John, get it in”
If he had a dollar for every time he’s heard that he’d be, well, John Mayer
John mayor?
Seah h damnnn man
OMG. 😂🤣 It’s too big!
you can tell john hates that girl
LaFlamaBlanca89 he dated that girl lmao it’s Katy Perry
@@twentyoneHz how do you know?
@@MarsLonsen its her voice 100%
@@Z4ub3r actually it does sound like her! Lol
i hate her also
0:11 Maaann .. look how fast he hides the guitar pick on his fingers! such a magician.
Those who want to learn how John played this song, just search for "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room Zartimus" That guy explains it perfectly.
Zartimus is the man
Haha I know right :)
I totally respect Zartimus for all the tutorials he does and you for recommending him to people but he doesn't quite explain how to play this perfectly ;( He gets really close! This version is just so great because of the solo^^I think its worth to learn
His tabs are on point but no offence, he plays a bit sloppy and his guitar sound shite lol
that guitar sounds so fuckin good
+Anmol Singh that's a $7k guitar or more js.
+UpwardNinja That's why they can't be found ;)
you can find it, in martin's website
www.martinguitar.com/guitars/custom-signature-editions/omjm-john-mayer/
he makes it sound good too
2:07 when you gotta remember your verse because you spent a year not saying a single word.
John is such an incredible artist. I take him as the inspiration that he is, vices and all. This was such a raw and unique performance. I cant wait until my next JM show.
This was before his vocal surgery though…right?
L.A. audiences feel so entitled. Sometimes music is better appreciated in silence.
You put it more elegantly than me :-D But I totally agree.
New York is just as bad. Terrible fucking behavior
james payne it’s cool when there’s cheering in a stadium, I live for that shit, but it’s obnoxious when you can hear individual peoples voices in a lounge or a bar

This is the unhappiest I've ever seen John on stage.
Mine is the "somethings missing in your athmosphere". He can barely get the words out... th-cam.com/video/r2WkziLDoRI/w-d-xo.html
I don't think he's unhappy, I think it's just that at this point he had just spent a year essentially not speaking or singing. Probably nerves and/or trying to get used to performing again.
At least she didn’t yell during the solo!!! It’s so beautiful.
Thank you @violetskyye for these wonderful videos!!
É sempre um grande prazer ouvir este grande intérprete cujo nome é JOHN MAYER. Obrigado por postar este ícone da música .😊😊
That harmonic note after the second slide right at the beginning is divine
From 3:01 to 3:30 is the proper way to solo on an acoustic guitar ! This is the tightest version of slowing dancing in a burning room by far !!!
i keep coming back to this video, i love the way he played the guitar. Getting the same one some time in the near future hopefully :). Lucky you to attend this
That guitar playing though...
So tight n clean ... Damn John !
That's talent! So raw...the thing I love the most about John Mayer, he may perform a song 100 times but it's always different...every single time...there's a special nuance to it...love love this acoustic version...very raw, pure and heartfelt!
It's amazing how he can whip out a solo playing lead and rhythm at the same time so well. Two words: holy shit
I love this face at 2:00 at the end of the interlude. It's like "is this gonna work...YUP"
+adidassoccer4 that or trying to remember how the second verse starts haha
I am entranced by watching him be so incredibly absorbed in this art of his. He's in his own little bubble, and it's truly lovely to watch.
He doesn't even have to sing to words to this to make it beautiful. His guitar in this sounds like the most magnificent thing I have ever heard.
This guy one day will be a star
His guitar is seriously on point!
He is one of the greatest guitarist we've ever known. He adapts the Blues style picking in all of his songs, adding his licks and stuff. That's unique. That's what music needs. UNIQUENESS.
So happy that to be able to witness a living master guitarist, really cool.
I'm so jealous of this guy's skills on the guitar... A mix of jealousy and deep admiration. Amazing version, thanks for uploading this!
I'm baffled that people won't shut up, though. John fucking Mayer is playing!
When she says “Omg I’m gonna cry”
I felt that.
Absolute masterpiece of a song and performance, he was definitely feeling the hurt.
The best acoustic solo Ive heard in a while! So smooth....
The instrumental part that starts three minutes in, it's fucking genius!
I think this is the definition of talent..!
I don't here any background noise...I only hear John Mayer playing and singing the hell out of this song. Man I love him!
man that solo he never fails to impress ever..
3:01-3.27 is maybe the best little piece of acoustic guitar work I’ve ever seen or heard.
Ikr
when the song reached that part i was wondering how he would go with the solo as there wasn't any backup, but this guy....................
wildly awesome bridge, pure acoustic bliss
I love his ability to play his songs in different styles.
My God, John Mayer getting better like WHAT to call complete artist !!!
It is quite amazing that John Mayer can take a song I've listened to literally 300 plus times in my life and do a slightly different version with amazing embellishments and solos and renew my love for the song that had become boring to my ear again. Fast forward to 3:00 for for one of the best groove's.
heck yeah!
I'm feeling those strum patterns at 3:14. Good stuff, but this fuckin' crowd man...self-absorbed to the max.
But I don't want to miss a part where John's with his guitar only... So just watch it al :)
***** Hahahah yeah! :) Frusci and Mayer are my favs! Cant get enough of them
***** red hot chili peppers of course ;) and I love Toto, Alter Bridge and Foo Fighters aswell! And John Frusciante, Mayer and Lenny Kravitz are my favourite solo musicians! And you?
What john says out loud "lower your expectations"
What john really means "get ready for the fucking show"
Words cannot express how amazing this is...
This was one of the first videos I liked EVER on TH-cam…and I’ve probably watched it 1k times.
Thank you for uploading, again, and for helping make this platform the best for live performances
Its so good i keep playing it over and over again! John Mayer is absolutely the best!!!
This gave me chills... Amazing version..
Love his passion and dedication in his face in the solo. He's amazing.
just love what he's done with the song. I love it when musos change it up!
Thought I'm just the only one who keeps coming back to this live version of the song, every single day.
says she can "sing for him"..sings only the slow dancing in the burning part
And thank God for that!
That solo blows me away every time.
John has always been an excellent guitarist! Great voice, but those chops are what impresses me most about him. True musician right there!
The best acoustic version of slow dancing in a burning room I ever seen
Ll
3:27 he even sounds perfect when he messes up, so good!
i'm falling in love with john mayer all over again because of that solo.
so funny how he says "lower your expectations" and then proceeds to nail the song!
i love how this performance is simple, not too "over the top" (which, is always amazing if it's john playing), but this one could be my favourite behind the one Live in LA
Thanks. Glad to know people all over the world can enjoy these. I'm going to see him again on the "Born & Raised" tour, but don't know if I'll get this close again w/ my camera. :)

mayer's live singing has been really improving over the years
Love the chorded acoustic solo. Dude can really play.
The guy shouting at 3.14 is the exact emotion I felt
Great rendition, thoroughly enjoyed that.
What an amazing sounding acoustic guitar
Daniel Li it's the player ;)
This is to me the best version ever of Slow Dancing In a Burning Room, minus all the screaming.
Matthew Newson in a song like this the only ‘real way’ to appreciate is to pipe down and feel it.
But I don’t blame them for the excitement.
If the complainers where at the gig they would oh heard the same background noise and still enjoyed it as I did.
mike cherry So true. I was standing a few feet away from the people yelling, but I barely noticed it at the time, because I was focusing on the performance.
This man is amazing. That solo was sooooo good
Who would have thought that these recordings would be so valuable as a fan. Never thought it would be this long til' we heard him live again. Thanks for these vids!!
watch this at least once a week, freestyle rhythm at the end is incredible, so is the tone.
Okay guys, I'm going to cut her some slack because she says "I'm sorry" at 2:47...
But then proceeds to sing "SLOW DANCING IN A BURNING ROOM..." 😂 wtf
Josue Barahona you know there’s multiple people in the crowd right?
Thanks for sharing this feelling❤️
This is awesome. It's like he was staying at this hotel and everyone pressured him into playing, then he got up there and played the shit out of that guitar!

When I saw him in Minneapolis in 2007, his encore was an acoustic Slow Dancing with DRH. Fucking beautiful.
Sliw dancing in a burning room,my all time fav and this arrangement with another kind of simging technique just mkes it even better oh god how can it be that great ! thanks for the upliad new fav version
his voice is fucked up after botox
I think its still awesome,i admit it got a kind of darker tone but maybe its natural with the aging idk still the best :D
what I love most about this guys music, is that he ALWAYS has a solo acoustic number for any song hes ever played. says lower your expectations and plays guitar i'll never play in 10 years
awesome version
That is the best sounding acoustic guitar I've ever heard. Signature series?
Yeah he has several custom acoustics, but that one's the Martin OMJM. Amazing sound and beautiful ;)
If you want it, you can find it for the low low price of $14,999
Josh Kitch NO WAY! Take my money now
Sells new for around $3,800.
It's the OM-28-JM, Only 404 made costs like £5,000, looks and sounds ridiculously nice though
It is starting to dawn on me that, besides the ever so wonderful lyrics to this amazingly beautiful JM-song, i am also starting to 'sing along' to the crazy screaming lady-lyrics.. ^^
3:00 Goosebumps.
I love this acoustic version
Anyone else's favorite part at 3:00?
so ridiculously good
My favorite version of John Mayer. Just him and his guitar. Simplest is best.
Guitarras e violões para o John são apenas extensões do corpo!!!!! Cara mara!
This is what you called eargasm. The solo guitar!
cara, a música ja é perfeita e nessa versão ficou extremamente perfeita, sem palavras
Sem dúvidas
pretty darn cool
2:51 That phrase felt so Bob Dylan esque.
skillz like these deserve wayyyyy more dan 100,000 views.
how are people fucking talking during this?
Attention whores!
I used to think the version from "Where The Light Is Live in LA" was as good as it was going to get... Wow. I am blown away every time I listen to this song. Thanks so much violetskyye!
Hopefully AI gets good enough to remove the audio of the annoying lady.
this is the best song ever
