I just bought the PF-500 and the PF-410HLF. I am enjoying the sound quality. This rig has a lot of power. I'm looking forward to taking it out on a gig soon.
I run my Ampeg SVT-7 Pro with 1000w RMS rated power @ 8 ohms through a single PF-115HLF and push 600w through it. These cabs are built extremely well and I have been able to push all that power through a single 15” and while I’ve played one show where I approached Gain at 7 with the volume wide open, I’m looking to add a PF-410HLF and cant imagine I’ll need to go past 4-5 for the larger venues with the volume dialed to 10. While I do play a swamp ash Stingray Special that weighs 8 pounds flat and just has absolutely mind blowing tone, Ampeg amplification does its part in translating the sound into deep rumble the listener can experience deep down inside their bones. Music Man Stingray Special or 70s Jazz Bass -> Ampeg SVT-7 Pro -> PF-410HLF/PF-115HLF you will not be disappointed with the results!
Hi Dino, I am about to buy the Ampeg PF-500 bass amp head and trying to decide which cab to get, looking at the PF-210HE which is the 450W @ 8ohms, and the other was the PF-410HLF 800W @ 8ohms, I believe the PF-500 head out is 300W at 8ohms or 500W @ 4ohms, so I think either would be suitable but was concerned that the smaller PF-210HE might not have enough head room for the amp if it were to be cranked up. Are both cabs suitably compatible with this head? Do you have any advice? Awesome demo by the way! Thanks!
PF-410HLF is currently me number 1 Cab by Ampeg, I use 2 of them. I want Ampeg to make me a 1 X 18 with a 4 X 12 at 1200 Watts for the Venture V12 or at 800 Watts for the PF-800, then perhaps I change off me PF-410HLF, not until cause those are the best Cabs I own. The Sound and Tone and Clarity, is awesome. I 💙 #Ampeg 😊 Incredible Teammates... Much Love!
I am curious why that is, because the PF amps can do 4 ohms, but not the cabs? I think i am growling for something more powerful over time, something that will handle a full stack of cabs :D haha. Regardless it is a great series and it has an amazing sound to it.
Great video, Dino. It answered a few questions I had. I really wanted to catch you in South Austin tonight, but it just not in the cards; got a last minute gig.
Dino, Does the PF 800 just sit atop the PF 410 / PF 115 cabinets. I see this stack sold in combination, so am curious. Is the difference between the LF and the HE cabinets the flip-top? The 410 seems to only be available in LF and not HE which is a 210. Thanks for any info....I would hate to get the PF800 with PF410HLF and PF115LF only to have the pf800 get pulled off the cabs when someone trips over a cord or pulls on the cord too hard. Very interested in this stack. Had a B15 back in the 60s. Thanks for any info. Bob
im looking at buying both and stacking them to have the 1x15 add the extra bass to the 4x10 sound. You didnt test out the sound generated when using both. Any reason?
Un gusto Saludarte, queria preguntarte si usante la combinación del 1x15 y el 4x10 con el PF500? ..es prudente hacer esa combinación con ese cabezal ..!! Gracias por la atención.. que siga teniedo buen día.
To my ear the 410 sounds thinner. i like the 115 better. Is tat because the mic is in the middle of the cabinet and not in front of a speaker? Of do the 410 sound more scooped than the 115?
Is the top of the 4/10 removable? I have yet to find an answer to this question. O ordered a 410 port cab with a 500 head, but I am starting to think that I can't mount the head on the inside of the cab? If so, I might return. Please say you can.
Hi, First, sorry for my poor english (i'm french...^^) I will buy an Ampeg PF-500 but I hesitate between PF-210HE and PF-115HE cab... So is-it a good idea to use PF-210HE and PF-115HE daisy chained together with a PF-500 or i'm going to be underpowered? (PF-800 exceeds my budget) Thanks in advance!
Which cabinet would be better for old Soul/R&B (think Motown, Stax and American Sound Studios). I'm interested in buying one of these cabs, but not sure which to order. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hello, i have the SVT810E and i am wondering how it would sounds like with the PF500 or PF800. i am gearing towards on getting the PF800. could you please give me some words on this new setup that i would like have. thank you in advance.
Hi guys at Ampeg. I am currently using a 550w (at 4 ohm) tube pre-amp bass head through a 210 1600w (peak) cab. I am wondering if it is any risk paring this 400w 115 cab to my rig. What are the rules of how much power you can feed a cab without blowing it? Thank you :-)
What's the impedance of the 2x10 cab you are using. We can estimate it at 800W RMS. We rate Ampeg cabs in RMS. Let me know that impedance and we can figure it out.
Impedance factors into wattage. So, you are talking about two 8 ohm cabs. So, that will get you a 4 ohm total load. In total, the cabs are rated at 1200W. Your head puts out 550W at 4 ohms. So, each cab would essentially get 225W when they want a whole lot more. So you will certainly not be overpowering them.
+AmpegTV Thank you so much for the informative and not least quick reply :-) I may end up being an Ampeg endorser.....partly that is. kind regards, John
the PF is a 8 ohm cab and both the SVT cabs are each 4 ohm cabs. If you were two pair two PF cabs you would have a total 4 ohm load which most heads Ampeg makes would easily drive. However if you were two pair two SVT cabs you would have a total 2 ohm load. There only heads that can handle a 2 ohm load are the 4 Pro and the SVT-CL. if you were to pair a 4ohm cab with a 8 ohm cab, you would have a 2.66 ohm load. tube amps like the SVT-CL don't like odd ohm loads so the 4 Pro is your best option in that case. The SVT cabs have a lower frequency response than the PF, with the Heritage even lower than the SVT410HLF. The lower frequency response is ideal for 5 strings and drop tunings like drop c and drop a ! My dream rig would be 2 SVT810 Heritages and 4 SVT410HLFs driven by 4x 4 Pros. That rig would register on the Rhicter scale !!
How can I stack two Ampeg 210 portaflex cabs with a pf500 head ?! I believe it only has one main input in the back of the head for the amp and head to connect
Hopefully you have already found the answer, but just in case you haven't. I believe the PF500 employs both a 1/4" jack and Speakon output. You can run a signal from each output into a single speaker. This is what I do with my PF800 into two 115hlf and it's loud and phat. Hope this helps.
You can do that although just keep in mind that you're going to be underpowered there. I would recommend the PF800 for more power however, if you're not slamming them hard volume-wise, the 500 should do a good job.
I've just bought a pf -410hlf to go with my pf800, is the wattage output still 800w @ 8ohms or is it reduced to 400w. It's bloody loud whatever it is,thanks
You're using 400 watts into 8 ohms because your cab is rated at 8 ohms. If you wanted to double the pain to your audience you could add a second 410 and then they'd both have 400 watts to play with, equaling 800 watts into 4 ohms.
Thanks for the feedback. I got my 410HLF delivered last week, it's incredible! Now would I gain anything from running series vs parallel when I add the 115LF? You guys are great for such a fast response! Thanks.
if the guitar amp can work safely with 8 ohm cabs then yes (check your amp's manual), however you may experience some poor highs (which are ok for some styles, like doom/stoner)
Nathan I thought that but wanted to check, I play my les paul through it with the pf800 bass amp with quite a nice sound but my telecaster sounds awful through it
Yes as long as the ohm rating and power output doesn't either over power(usually unlikely with a guitar head) or under power the cab (more then likely possible with a guitar head)

I have one of the 410s and I love it. Question, there are 2 tabs sticking out the bottom of the grill. are these used to remove the grill? and also how do I remove the grill on this cabinet? Thanks Dino!
Ampeg PF-115LF! Why??? The 15" bass speaker' bottom end compliments the Ampeg BA-210V2. Also, it has removable casters so you can place the 210V on top and roll-move the entire rig around with ease.
