Imagine, What? back-to-back with Mana as opening numbers at their recent concert?!? GOOSEBUMPS!!! I was literally in tears while they were performing What? because it was sooo good!!!
Since you are producers, perhaps you might be interested in watching the What's Producer's vlog by Canadian Producer Simon Servida. He will bring you into the intricacies in producing this song. and he was as "perplexed" as you were the first time he was given the project as it defied the standards of any music production. But as he worked closely with Pablo, he began to appreciate the ingenuity behind it and ended co-producing some of SB19's succeeding songs. Personally, I am a fan not because I like all their music. In fact, "What" is not exactly my type of song but the ingenuity behind it won me as an avid fan. I appreciate and I have high regard in their talent and the dedication they put in every performance.
In context, coming from their debut album, this comeback and the whole "Pagsibol" album, WHAT? is mindblowing and fresh when it came out. SB19 before this song was known as Filipino Kpop. But when Pablo took helm on their music (he's already doin their lyrics), SB19 really defined their own style and genre. To og fans, WHAT? will always be special as it defined a new era in SB19 history and gave the band the confidence to produce their own music
Yes I agree, I remember that time I was excited for their comeback and then boom mind blown, it was very unexpected MV, the quality, the meaning, the visuals, everything is good that's why I love What?
What? Is like the first ever Music Video in the philippines that made people realize f*** filipinos can do this kind of music video The type of Mv that made people realize We need more of this kind of high quality MVs And yeah SB19 made alot of first in filipino history bcause of What?
What? has been their opening song in most of their concerts/performances because it sets up the mood. It's so hyped up, it's like an anthem. And recently they have added an intro rap by Pablo and an intro dance break to their live performances of this track. So cool!
Trivia: The WHAT MV actually made history in the Philippines, being the fastest to garner views in 24 hours. A lot of people had opinions for how the track is so uncanny, however, more than that, the MV itself was breaking barriers in terms of Philippine production. I think you already notice how it was like a movie. The quality of the MV and its cinematography was the very first of its kind in Philippine media. Yes, unfortunately, Filipino producers hardly ever put in effort and budget in an MV to make it stellar quality. One of the reasons is that a lot of the big producer companies are old and were reluctant to invest in new stuff because people were also content watching in the older productions (the kind that don't know what they're missing until they see it for themselves). The biggest reason is that people also lacked faith that Filipinos can achieve this kind of artistry. It's the same strand of mentality why people didn't like PPop back then because they never believed that Filipinos can actually pull-off becoming idols. So when the MV came out, people realized tht yeah, FILIPINOS CAN PRODUCE THIS KIND OF THING. This is a prevalent defeatist mindset among Filipinos that they can never amount to anything spectacular mainly because a lot of Filipinos are shrewd with money and we actually hardly ever invest in entertainment.
Even in the MV actually, they represent their personalities in each of their part. Because WHAT is about being proud of yourself, being proud of WHAT you are, thus raising you own W(H)ATAWAT (flag).
So true that was hard to do… I pay to watch an artist live to hear vocals … dancing/choreo is secondary. These guys are better in their live performances: vocals are astounding while doing their choreo. Adlibs and harmonization are soooo good… now I want to see and hear BTS or any western grp do a live performance while dancing with low backing tracks and NO lip syncing! Live performances separate true artists!
This performance was a one-taker. It started raining when they were filming this song so they had to do it in one go. Pablo wrote this song and he produced it with his brother. Stell choreographed the dance steps with inputs from Ken. Justin is the creative director of their MV. And Josh is in charge of most decisions and plannings. This is why they are the Kings of PPop!😊
a lot of Filipino fans were shocked when SB19 released the What? MV, because it was new, intense and very well executed.. their creativity at its best!
SIMON SERVIDA, together with PABLO (SB19's leader), produced this song. Pablo wrote the lyrics and then he co-produced it with his brother and Simon Servida. I think Simon Servida made a video about how he produced the song "WHAT?" on his TH-cam channel. He also produced the other songs that you already heard of from SB19 like BAZINGA and MANA.
Thanks for this RV! I'll just explain the concept of this song. This song is about individuality, that each of individual must be proud of itself because you can do great if you are proud of yourself. And this song is very touchy to us Filipinos because if you read the message. The message of this song is so great. I have a lot of realization because of this song. I wish you can see the transition language of this song. I swear you will love it too. IT SHOWS THE 4 CORE VALUE OF FILIPINOS 1. Godly 2. Environmentally friendly 3. Humane 4. Interesting fact about this performance. They were invited to Korea but with covid restrictions they couldn't leave the Philippines. This was on a stage, I believe in front of the fountain at the Cultural center and was filmed at 2am. They performed I think 5 songs, What, Tilaluha, MaPa, Go Up and one more. What was performed in one take because it started to drizzle. The entire performance was so good. The full performance also has commentary from the boys that really set the stage.
I remember they said before their korean teacher asked them to practice 1000× wrote it down and show it to her. Their struggles during their training has paid off. They are not big like BTS its really hard for them to reach the US market to be able to be popular worldwide. But these guys are genuinely talented phillipines now is happy to have them.
Interesting thoughts on SB19's What. I agree it isn't mainstream radio friendly, kinda like Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" when it first came out waaaayyy back in the day. Who would want to listen to an almost 6-minute song with 6 distinct sections one of which is an operatic passage? But now it's a classic and people listen to it without being weirded out. For me, that's what What is. It's not for everyone but I like how SB19 was brave enough to experiment and take a chance on this song and prove that they're not just copycats of kpop. You can watch Simon Servida, one of the producers of this song, and his take on the making of it on his YT channel. It'll give you a glimpse of how Pablo's mind work when he's composing and producing songs. Thanks for the reaction vid. Peace!
They were given full creative control w/ this release, (their 1st album is quite safe, in my opinion ) this time they were experimental.. if you think about it What? is like a table of contents of their discography, being the 1st single of the Pagsibol Ep. And that's exactly what happened they gave us mapa after this then bazinga after. also during their tour this is their opening number , it's like saying , this what you' re getting in this concert ... the 1st set of their concert is patterned like like this song.. you get songs in different genre back to back (e.g Mana , and Hanggang sa Huli..) and one of the things I love about them is that I never felt like they made songs just for airplay. ( And I have nothing against those artist who does, but u know what mean?)
I don't know whether or not 'What' song is a good introduction on the international front but as far as I know it was a pretty good hit in the Philippines. Thanks for introducing SB19 to your wife. 🙏✌️
Also SB19 has been stacking up awards after awards in their home country. Only when they topped Billboards on the list with greats like BTS, Black pink, Ariana Grande and a whole lot of others is when they began getting recognition they deserved. And this is only the beginning for PPOP.👏
Got his point. Maybe It is not a good introduction song internationally. Because it is not made for it. That's why they made WYAT. Which is the introduction on the international front..
Everything was incredible when I watched their concert in Redwood City last November 18. Live vocals & the dancing were superb. Most of all, their character was commendable. Incredibly talented but down-to-earth people. The world is missing a lot of genuinely talented people because of xenophobia.
Yes, all of their songs were written by their Leader Pablo. Justin is their creative Director and Stell is the Choreographer. Please react to Ken/ Felip Playo and Bulan Live .
WHAT PEOPLE DONT REALIZE HAVING A GOOD VOICE AND GOOD DANCING SKILL AT THE SAME TIME IS ALREADY RARE BUT THE MEMORY AND COORDINATION TO EXECUTE THEM SIMULTANEOUSLY TAKES BLOOD AND SWEAT.
I became an A’tin in their What era. I got curious so I watched the mv and loved it! I’ve been a fan ever since. These young men are not only talented but genuinely nice and very humble. I was lucky enough to talk to them briefly at their SF concert during photo op🖤
Yes these boys are used to practicing a lot. Bcoz their korean teacher before taught them that "practice will never betray you". They were required to practice 1000X before they released their song Go Up. And made them a challenge to dance Go Up in 2X speed.
Everything is intentional. I think this is them introducing their sound, establishing their identity. Just them doing something about their newfound freedom.
I've watched this live a few times already and damn they're really good. You get to wonder of the how strange the changing beats but isn't it the one meaning of the title literally? I mean, the "What?" I hope you know what I mean. Pablo got your attention, and you'd ask questions like how and why? as far as I know, the boys are trying to beat the sound we are used to, thus the meaning "Sound Break". You see, Philippines has a lot of great musicians and artists but not a lot of them are recognized globally. (Though we have Lea Salonga. ) We are known for ballads and doing belts. Pop isn't much taken seriously in the Philippines, but we do have it. Smokey Mountain batch 2 and 3, Sarah G., James Reid, Gary V. (from his younger years). Somehow, Pop before was inclined to novelty, thus the songs of Sexbomb group, Viva Hot Babes, Masculados. Only a few were really known locally but no one made into worldwide really. It is really hard even for the Filipinos to accept it. as a 46 yr old, I grew up with MichaeL Jackson's songs, anyone who makes attempt to copy him must have it all it takes. I've watched and listen to some KPop songs and I love the discipline. Anyone who does copy it (the discipline!), must have what it takes and more! The only one I see today is SB19. They have more than they can give. They are so passionate and more importantly, they are humble.
I always look out for your reactions to SB19 'cos you are my favorite reactors! I was one of the many who came to know & became a fan of SB19 because of this song What?. It was composed by Pablo and as he has said before it is their anthem song which they sing at the start of their live concerts. It talks about taking pride in one's individuality but can also be a song about national pride. I will never get tired of watching them perform What? because it is one of my fave songs from them, also they change the presentation or make some alterations to it every time they perform so that we as fans always get surprised by their performances. Thank you for continuing your journey about SB19 and for introducing your wife to them!
Thank you! hehehe they performed 16 songs in their recent concert and just had 1 costume change/break and the rest are spontaneous. Live and stable vocals :) Hope you can react to their MAPA, MANA, IKAKO, Hanggang Sa Huli Orchestra version from their Forte concert last year :) thank you!
A friend of mine who attended the Wyat Hc confirmed that they only took a break for about 5 mintues only And it's only because they needed to change their costume She wasn't a fan of them She was only dragged by her sis in law and she was like ghourl they are so handsome in person and the live vocals? Superb
@@eliem2563 hahaha. Yes. They just had 1 costume change in less than 5 minutes and we were caught off guard when they did What and MANA back to back with no break. Stamina is on another level. Hahaha
yes Pablo, their leader write and co produce What. Pablo is the lyricist of the group and produced some of their songs. He is the member who rapped first the hair with blonde and black color
Since you're a bit more technical. You should watch the producer's video on how this was arranged and how the music evolved from the original form til the release version. Check Simon Servida's channel. He has a couple of videos where he showed his work and a bit of a breakdown of, not only this song, but also other songs in this particular album.
The making of this song has a behind-the-scenes 5 episode documentary. Pls watch, with or wo an RV. You'll see the song production, choreography, mv production, etc.
WHAT was composed by Pablo. When he was composing it, he wanted to include a chant in it similar to We Will RockYou by Queen. He did play with a lot of different beats.
this @9:56 is what other reactors did not manage to grasp. what as a song is not conventional but sb19 is quite confident that they can pull it off despite its complexity. thank you for your honest reaction and i really like your perception of why sb19 took a chance on this song.
Please react to SB19's dance practice GO UP. It was that dance practice that catapulted them to stardom. They were about to give up on following their dreams but because of that dance video they gained some fans and from then on the rest is history.
I love your RVs... i remembered in one of their interviews, comments such as these are the ones that Pablo would really love to hear. Since he's the one who writes and generally the producer of their songs.
Thank you for your reaction video. We really appreciate your inputs and comments. Us fans really enjoy this song and even sing along with them during concerts. 😊
8:53 - 9:01 Pablo, the composer, is very purposeful in his compositions. This song, the lead single from the album "Pagsibol," is meant to showcase the versatility and diversity of SB19's sound. It's a departure from their previous album and is meant to signal a new direction for the group. The song is meant to be a kind of announcement of this new SB19 style, featuring a range of different genres and styles and showing off their willingness to experiment and try new things. Overall, the song is intended to be a celebration of creativity and diversity, and a reflection of the group's desire to break out of conventional norms and try something new and exciting.
True, Pablo took risks in writing this song. He had a vision and really pushed to see it materialize. I am a fan since 2019 and when I heard this song the first time, my reaction was What is this?! It is so very different from the normal music I hear. But the more I listen to this song, I begin to like and appreciate the difficulty in making the different music genre and rhythm work harmoniously. This song grows on you. And this song is better sung live and in a concert. As an concer intro, gosh it is a bang!
It is usually their first song because first What has another meaning(Wat for Watawat -Flag) meaning raising your own flag ..second.. there is a verse there where they say ' Thank you Father for you are our amulet' , Pablo even said 'Halleluyah' .. it is like a prayer, Thank you song and being grateful.
Fun fact: This song What? was written and co-produced by their leader Pablo, Stell did the choreography and Justin was the creative director of the music video.
All their song are all self produced, filmed and choreographed by themselves. That's why they can keep up with it. They know how it goes because they made it. They are their song. That's only show the ability and creativity of SB19.
What? Is a song about overcoming your fears, embracing your true self and many more. It's a heavily inspirational song and you can literally interpret it in ways that you could relate to. SB19 often says that it's the song they want casuals to hear first because it's literally about them. Their genuineness, their journey and what lies ahead. You would understand if you listen with translation 💕
i can feel them even the video is block, nice to see your wife joins the reaction,we love you all for appreciating our beloved boys SB19,thanks for good and honest reactions.wi'll watch you again next time.
Also I hope you can react to their BTS song and dance covers . They did many of those while on their early days. They did Boy with luv, Idol, Fake Love etc. They sang it in Hangul too while dancing :)
Btw, when you guys were discussing ear monitors and being able to hear each other and the cues. I noticed some of the SB19 members at their Homecoming concert the other day seemed to have difficulty with their monitors and their sound became a lil pitchy or off pitch at one or two of the songs. Hmmm, now I know. (Still a great concert though). Thanks for explaining this. U guys R🤩CK!🥳
I subscribed to this Channel because you seriously are the best ReActor as an Atin im really teary -eyed watching this.SB19 finally getting the recognition they deserved!
Thank you for giving SB 19 another chance. Like Touchy Reaction, who gave 7/10 for WHAT official video but now they have full support to the boys, they- the couple, even watched 1 of WYAT US tour. Now you have your wife with you. I am so happy that i found you ahead of Cashual Chuck, he was so elated watching your RV.
Try listening to Ken’s Bulan and Palayo. It will showcase a two side of Ken or Felip as a solo artist which you won’t expect from him and Pablo’s La Luna (showcasing Pablo’s talent as well in his forte). Again, thank you for reacting to SB19 new sub here. I Appreciate your time for the boys.
Than you so much guys to reaction to my our sb 19 ppop groups and thankfully for your beautiful wife you are Amazing great people you are so thank you thank you very much for you in god blessed to your all family and merry Christmas to you guys more reaction to sb 19 pilipino boy group
Thank you for introducing SB19 to your wife! Such a compliment to SB19 and A’tin! 💙 What? song and MV are all their different personalities before and after they come together. That’s why at the end they’ve conquered their insecurities and are winners. Something with SB19, there’s always a story and a message in the songs and MVs. There are no people here because it was during the pandemic and they had to send in their entries to be livestreamed like with YTFF. To make sure there were no people while they were filming, this was done around midnight and in one take because it started to rain while they were shooting it.
You got it right when you said that SB19 knew their fan base when they created WHAT! I know the boys will have many more excellent comeback songs, but WHAT will always be special to A'Tin because it marked SB19's transition to being a self-produced group. Their previous tracks (Tilaluha, Hanggang sa Huli, Go Up, etc) were composed by Korean producers and SB19 did the lyrics and some minor changes to the melodies. This time, with WHAT, they were fully hands-on. Pablo (John Paulo Nase in the credits!) wrote the lyrics and produced the song along with Filipino-Canadian producer Simon Servida (Servida Music on YT), OPM legend Jay Durias (he's from the legendary Filipino band called Southborder), and Pablo's brother Joshua Daniel Nase (aka Josue who's also an artist). Justin is the creative director of the music video and Stell did most of the choreography along with Ken and professional choreographer Tank Bautista. Simon Servida made a vlog on how he and Pablo created WHAT over Zoom calls and Instagram DMs. He admitted that he had a hard time with the switch-up from 112 BPM to 96 😅 His vlog is really interesting, I bet even more for you guys since you're producers yourselves. Hope you can check it out! Would love to see your reaction to their production process. 💙
im subscribing. you're not just reacting but also breaking down the song and analyzing it and I become more amazed with SB19 the more I listen to what you guys say.
Thank you for doing another reaction video of our beloved sb19. Btw they wrote all their songs, beats, harmony and dances choreography 🙂 ofcourse they have some help too I will never disregard that. 😀
SB19 had a smashing performance. The layer of their voices in Tilaluha and Mapa gave me goosebumps and of course, the nostalgic Go Up, the song that made them viral. They are as sharp as ever. Added info on their looks. Their shirts & jackets are modern barongs, the traditional/formal tops of men.
Imagine, What? back-to-back with Mana as opening numbers at their recent concert?!? GOOSEBUMPS!!! I was literally in tears while they were performing What? because it was sooo good!!!
I think ito nangyari sa Ozone concert nila... Mana then What?
If only you have seen their homecoming concert last sunday, what and mana at the araneta coliseum? Aaahhh, real blast…
What and Mana back to back with dance break was 🔥🔥🔥
Pls do RV of sb19 CONCERT last December18 2022 opening number, WHAT and MANA back-to-back..🙏
SB19 Homecoming concert was a blast !!!

This song of SB19 reminds of the Queen's hit Bohemian Rhapsody with all those changes in the beat
Live and stable vocals :) Hope you can react to their MAPA, MANA, IKAKO, Hanggang Sa Huli Orchestra version from their Forte concert last year :) thank you!
up
A friend of mine who attended the Wyat Hc confirmed that they only took a break for about 5 mintues only
And it's only because they needed to change their costume
She wasn't a fan of them
She was only dragged by her sis in law and she was like ghourl they are so handsome in person and the live vocals? Superb
@@eliem2563 hahaha. Yes. They just had 1 costume change in less than 5 minutes and we were caught off guard when they did What and MANA back to back with no break. Stamina is on another level. Hahaha
What can i say thank you for appreciating them. It means a lot. ❤️❤️❤️
yes Pablo, their leader write and co produce What.
SB19 is a self producing artist so to answer your question it’s their leader Pablo who wrote WYAT and all of their songs..
The making of this song has a behind-the-scenes 5 episode documentary. Pls watch, with or wo an RV. You'll see the song production, choreography, mv production, etc.
Up pls!

I always anticipate watching your reaction. I think you guys are amazing! Enjoyed this RV. A pleasure also…
thank you so much po for supporting ur ppop king:-)happy holidays sir.
They practice a thousand times.. that’s why it looks easy & well rehearsed 😍
WHAT was composed by Pablo. When he was composing it, he wanted to include a chant in it similar to We Will RockYou by Queen. He did play with a lot of different beats.
Thank you so much for supporting our boys!❤
Have you guys reacted to Pablo's "La Luna" already. His flow in that song is addictive. Keep it up!
this @9:56 is what other reactors did not manage to grasp. what as a song is not conventional but sb19 is quite confident that they can pull it off despite its complexity. thank you for your honest reaction and i really like your perception of why sb19 took a chance on this song.
They already performed this with a live band during their 3rd anniversary concert last November 2021.
Please react to SB19's dance practice GO UP. It was that dance practice that catapulted them to stardom. They were about to give up on following their dreams but because of that dance video they gained some fans and from then on the rest is history.
I remember you've mentioned that you want to work with SB19,You can watch Simon Servida's vlog how he produced the WHAT❓with Pablo
I've Binge watching your reaction video recently... I love your perspective about SB19..😍
I love your RVs... i remembered in one of their interviews, comments such as these are the ones that Pablo would really love to hear. Since he's the one who writes and generally the producer of their songs.
Thank you sir for always supporting SB19 all your videos about this PPop I really love...🥰
"What" is actually one of my favorite along with MANA as much as I love all of their songs.
Woow! Thank you GidKid dads and the beautiful wifey! 😍🤗💙❄️
Thank you so much guys and the wife. We really appeeciate your honesty.
Thank you for your reaction video. We really appreciate your inputs and comments.
Us fans really enjoy this song and even sing along with them during concerts. 😊
They definitely made this, try to watch their What the making episodes in their original channel SB19 official here on YT
They also added a rap intro to this in their concert 👍🏽
Pablo wrote the song and he tapped Simon Servida to help produced it. Pablo was inspired by Bohemian Rhapsody with different changing beats.
Watch their live concert last month in New York Palladium.
Very live .
Sb19 members josh(the rapper) and stell (who hits highotes)already met bts back on 2014 before bts become so famous and have a pic together with them.
All their song are all self produced, filmed and choreographed by themselves. That's why they can keep up with it. They know how it goes because they made it. They are their song. That's only show the ability and creativity of SB19.
Happy birthday to your beautiful wife🎈🎈🎈
Most casuals who first time watched What? MV gets blown away and ended up becoming fans of the group. Because it's their best song/MV to date.
Happy birthday to your wife! Apologies, didn’t get her name. Thank you for your cool reaction. Keep them coming! Salamat po!
Thank you for the RV! I would love for you guys to do a reaction video of their interviews. 🤞🏼
Their leader wrote all their songs :)
Thank you I always enjoyed watching your SB19 reactions😊
I really like this song..The most unique that I've listened to..Beautiful to listen to.
i can feel them even the video is block, nice to see your wife joins the reaction,we love you all for appreciating our beloved boys SB19,thanks for good and honest reactions.wi'll watch you again next time.
Also I hope you can react to their BTS song and dance covers . They did many of those while on their early days. They did Boy with luv, Idol, Fake Love etc. They sang it in Hangul too while dancing :)
thank you for this reaction 🥰💙
You can also check their dance practices particularly GO UP DANCE PRACTICE. Thanks in advance
U guys
R🤩CK!🥳
I became a fan because of WHAT. Thanks for this RV.
I was able to watch them live and when I say they are Live Monsters, they really are monsters
Every song was composed by Pablo, their leader choreographed by Stell they are hands-on in all the details. They self produced their songs
I subscribed to this Channel because you seriously are the best ReActor as an Atin im really teary -eyed watching this.SB19 finally getting the recognition they deserved!
Its so nice to hear people who really understand Music...thank you for this very informative rv..SB19 is truly a Great Group...
Thank you for supporting our p-pop
You can actually see some of how this song was made and how the mv was made in their behind the scenes.
I started listening to SB19 because of you guys
Thank you for introducing SB19 to your wife! Such a compliment to SB19 and A’tin! 💙
What? song and MV are all their different personalities before and after they come together.
💙
They have a live band version of What? in their Back In the Zone Concert and orchestral version in Forte Concert. Mana too. 😉
im subscribing. you're not just reacting but also breaking down the song and analyzing it and I become more amazed with SB19 the more I listen to what you guys say.
