I have this furnace, IMO - they do come with undersized 24 VAC transformers . As supplied first unit had audible buzz and was getting up to 122F. The replacement unit runs tad ccoler and no audile noise - i have decided on swapping in more powerful transformer anyways.

I just has my three.5 year old Trane SpVs060 downflow furnace replaced. had a freezing coil and low refrigerant charge. Stumbled on your review and it spoke of modifications. Original Trane contractor never made them, whether he didn't want to or the building contractor didn't want to pay. Had a new Trane rep come out and he identified the problem, but didn't say what it was. Was going to get an XV18i or 20i and a coil as gas rates have skyrocketed. Original contractor, now selling York, came two hours later to check the furnace (regular schedule). Leak in the coil or line set and very low on refrigerant. Fan also not working on cooling no blower either in cooling but blower on heating.
Old company made good on the system. Comped my a brand new 96% two-stage variable speed furnace with the HMH7 side-discharge heat pump and new coil and lineset. also fixed the ductwork which was an issue. Fourteen inch main return instead of 16 and 20 feet of flex instead of right. Fixed supply to second bedroom. Had an eight inch instead of a 12 which fed a second bedroom. added a second supply register in that bedroom. Eliminated the freight train noise. I suspect the airflow issue contributed to the failed board and leak. That cost me a little only because it originally passed inspection and I would have likely lost in court.
What should have been the modification? Install in garage, downflow with furnace on top of coil. Filter box on top of furnace, Curious. I miss that furnace but couldn't pass up the labor and warranty package.

On tranes website the spv2-vs has terrible reviews and people says it’s like listening to a commercial jet. Is this the same unit?

There is not a Spv2 unit, only the S9V2. We have installed thousands of the S9V2. We have had no issues with noises, unlike the S8X2 which has had multiple noise issues. All high efficiency units have inshot burners and can sound like miniature jets, but not to where I’ve seen complaints anyway. The S9V2 is the most reliable of the 90+% efficient furnaces. A real work horse.

It has 4.6 out of 5 stars on the Trane website, which is far from terrible. I have a 1-year old S9V2 that's located right below my living room and right underneath my favorite napping chair. It's a very quiet unit, even when it kicks into second stage. It's been a great furnace for me -- I save money on gas, and it keeps the whole house more comfortable. Chances are pretty darn good that you would be equally happy with it.

I have S9X2BO80, when using Fan only, the speed of the blower motor is really low. You can hardly heard the sound of the blower likewise not much air coming. I need to increase the blower speed for summer cool night. Could you show me how to do that?

We recommend your local hvac company adjust the speeds for you

@@fireiceheatingandaircondit4363 After I pay expensive price, they won't do it. They just say that's they way it is could not adjust it. The only I can do is to share social media about bad dealer and bad review on Trane .

I wish you were here in Canada...i live in ALBERTA , CANADA.we just purchased a new home which is 25 years old..amazing condition...furnace is original and we had an inspection done on the house and the furnace...we were told the furnace is in amazing shape for a 25 year old furnace...my question is should we just go with the furnace till it dies or is it time to get a new furnace ???.....and which kind would you suggest we are seniors and can not afford the fancy one with all the bells and whistles just want a good reliable efficient furnace....there was a new air conditioner just installed 4 months ago also....not sure what kind....we move there on October 28.....as you know it gets pretty cold up here in the winter
I look forward to your response
thank you very much.....cheers from Canada

I can only assume the inspection is right and the furnace is in amazing condition. The furnace is at or passed it’s expected life span. If it’s working, who knows how long you have before it breaks. I just wouldn’t put any major money into it when it does. I’m a big fan of the Trane S9V2 furnace when the time comes.

Do these 2 stage furnaces need a 2 stage thermostat or can the furnace run the stages by itself? Meaning does the furnace kick into stage 2 within a certain amount of time?

This is experience my friend. If you have it and know how to re-run ( modified)exhaust pipe in finished developed basement- that's the biggest point. Installation furnace itself not hard.

Just got this installed and for the life of me cannot figure out how to take the door off. To take advantage of the two speed motor, I need to connect both Y1 and Y2 to my thermostat, correct?

    • @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363
      @fireiceheatingandaircondit4363  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Turn the clips on the bottom door towards the outside. The thermostat does not control the speeds of your furnace, just whether it turns on or off

We would recommend the factory igniter. Generic igniters don’t usually last as long

Can you break down the model number and what it means? I.E S9X2B060U4PSBA I think I have most of it
    S9X2 - Base Model
    B - Unknown
    060 - 60,000 BTU
    U - Upward or L/R horizontal
    4 - Tonnage
    PSBA - Unknown
    Thanks!

      P - Means it’s a PSE blower motor
      S - communicating capacity (S=24 volts)
BA - changes with series, doesn’t represent/stand for anything
