Steve James is brillant! A great player and teacher. I have studied with Steve in workshops and I can tell you his sessions are fun and entertaining. It doesn't get any better than Steve James! Rick
Steve James is not only an encarnation of the genuine blues soul, but he is also a pro dedicated teacher of the ancient art of blues guitar playing...Greetings from Barquisimeto Venezuela. Come anytime...Jorge Pena
Not sure if anyone gives a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. I've been watching with my gf recently =)
I've bought quite a few Homespun programs over the years and this is one of the best. Steve is not just a fantastic player, he's an exceptional teacher. Plus he's just cool and fun to watch. If you've never done any of the Homespun stuff and like country blues, this is a great one to check out!
@arrrrtichoke You could buy the DVD, which includes tab. If money is that tight then you can watch the video, the explanations are clear enough to stand on their own. Tab is evil you know, the sooner you wean yourself off that crutch the better off you'll be. Took me too many years, don't make that mistake!
What's with zooming in on his right hand in the middle of the thing so you lose the left? Fred Astaire insisted dance be filmed in entirety - no closeups! Not a bad idea here too...
Sounds like a cross between Robert Johnson and the "Mississippi Blues" Willie Brown....Did Patton, House and their Willie Brown play anything in standard tuning "A"....????

Sweet!
Love that thumping monotonic big bass thumb
Yellow Kid, the A7 Steve is playing is a D7 shape from the first position moved with index finger on the 8th fret. Hopefully that helps.

It's called "Blues/Roots Guitar, Fingerpicking and Slide from New Orleans to the Delta."
Good lesson here Steve, I'm settling in with the blues.
Wow. The sound is perfect the playing is perfect and everything is explained perfectly 👍👍
That IS a TROJAN. I had a workshop with Steve & spent a great deal of time one on one with him. This is an easy one ;-)

Ive been flat picking for so long....I'd feel like I was starting over if I tried this. Frustrating because I like this so much.
Jim Forgrave Never give up dude, you can achieve it if you just keep at it, don’t ever give up

Just do it slow for as long as it takes and you'll get it if you stick with it. Good luck
