    Fergie is the greatest of all time, Wenger changed football and is the reason the Prem is what it is today. Two pioneers and they defo deserve to be first.
    My next nominees would be Sir Bobby Robson, Sir Kenny Dalgleish and Jose Mourinho.

      Spot on. The early 90’s football was changing and both of them were at the spear tip of that change. Different approaches but they made the PL exciting and fun to watch where as before it was the most boring league. Serie A was the premier league for football and produced so many legends. But the PL took that to another level with the work of men like Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger.

    Wenger was a perfectionist in style of play and consistency (hence the beautiful football and longest unbeaten run. But arguably his own downfall, as he didn't adapt enough), with Sir Alex, he was an absolute winner. That was his focus. He knew how to rebuild teams and when to let players go. His ruthlessness, was his winning instinct.

    I’m never not frustrated by people suggesting that Arsene Wenger was hounded out of Arsenal. The fact is he left Arsenal a few years too late into his Arsenal career, and wanting to move on and grow from the incredible foundations that Wenger set for us was not only right, but absolutely necessary at that point.
    And STILL the moment Wenger’s departure was announced my heart completely sank. There’s only two heroes of mine that I literally love, and that’s Wenger and Muhammad Ali.
    There are idiots in every fan base, stop painting us all with the same brush. Two things can be true .. it was true that it was right for Wenger to leave, and it is true that we will never have another manager like Arsene.

    • @danielmarsh1376
      @danielmarsh1376 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Considering he brought about the most success in a condensed period within Arsenal's history, on top of a golden premier league trophy and established them as part of the Liverpool and Manchester United dominant trio in British football, you would think he would get more respect towards the end. Sure it was time for him to part ways with Arsenal after underachieving (debatably) with his team for two seasons (coming second just two seasons prior.) But the banners around the stadium, the chants about him needing to go, AFTV throwing abuse at him almost every video, you would think he was not only some random manager only there for a few seasons at most, but underachieving beyond belief. He was still playing attractive football on a shoe string budget and maintained top 4 for essentially 20 seasons. Emery and Arteta both struggled to get anywhere near top 4 after spending loads more. Not exactly just a few fans that threw abuse and forced him out

    • @yessir6947

    • @miniman2132
      @miniman2132 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@danielmarsh1376 Arsene Wenger revealed he was leaving Arsenal at the tail end of the season and received standing ovations, chants and whatever else in his final games before a great sendoff. He most certainly was not treated like just any other manager in that regard.
      You also can’t spin the prolonged slump Arsenal were under with Wenger either. FA cups papered over the cracks, but you know that the season we finished second we never actually entered the title race, we just pipped Spurs to second after they collapsed. Arsenal hadn’t put up a sustained effort to win the premier for over a decade under Wenger, and it was compounded by his last two seasons where we now couldn’t even achieve champions league, and all the more frequent occasions where Arsenal would be embarrassed 4-0, 5-0, 6-0, 8-2 by teams who we used to be able to compete with, and ultimately Unai Emery was left with a terrible squad to work with the following season.
      Even Wenger himself said he stayed too long.
      As for AFTV, I genuinely don’t give a damn about them, but I also don’t put any blame on them for Arsenals failures over that time period .. because if you do, then the only logical conclusion is that you must give AFTV credit for the way this season is panning out right? No? I don’t think AFTV deserve any credit for the success this season either.

      It was his time to leave, the frustration was real, it was justified, some fans went too far (every set of fans have idiots), but there is no man more loved or respected at Arsenal the Wenger.

    Bergkamp joined Arsenal before Wenger did btw, that aside the amount of players Wenger introduced to the Premier League is top tier, especially the fees, incredible. People think of the likes of Brighton recently and Leicester with the of Kante and Mahrez picking up relatively unknown players that turned out to be top players but Wenger was doing this with full squads before technology was so advanced with scouting etc. Ofc there was a few duds along the way but even players within that time like a Ramsey cost 5mil, Holding who's still playing in the squad for a similar fee, Adebayor was under that fee. Even players who were laughed at mostly like a Bendtner, he was getting close to/sometimes double figures within a season, went on to have an incredible international career.. he cost around 100k.

    Too many bashing Wenger saying he isn’t in the same bracket. Let’s add context. Fergie was able to regularly break transfer records whilst Wenger made the club self sufficient and paid off stadium at the same time. Had he taken his offers from Real or whatever you’d all be saying differently about him. He kept us in the UCL spots with the likes of Chamakh and Bendtner for example, many players well over performed. If he accepted those offers you’d see him differently. One can only imagine the force he would’ve created with similar financial backing.

    Arsene Wenger was an absolute sensation. The only reason he doesn't have the longevity is because of money! Guy was fighting against open cheque book billionaires with a few spare change that he found at the bottom of the sofa. If football was a level playing field Wenger would not only win everything but he would do it with style. No other manager is ever building a team with 2million unknown Pires from marseille or a 3.7m Vieria career going nowhere at Milan or a 500k for the likes of Kolo Toure and Anelka. Guy was so good, shame football became all about the money rather than pure managerial talent. Fergie was immense too but spent the most money pretty much everytime breaking transfer records with 30m rio, 30m rooney, 30m berbatov, 25m veron etc which is why I rate Wenger so high that he was able to even compete and outclass united at times.

    Saddens me that Wenger couldnt adapt to the modern game/spending, he held on to the old way of building a club until the very end, gave me my best years as a supporter though so no hate only love, enjoy retirement mate, COYGssss

    I think adding these at the same time is an insult to Sir Alex. The man is levels above Wenger. Do not get me wrong, he deserves the accolade, but doing it at the same time is like giving a lifetime achievement to Muhammed Ali and Lennox Lewis the same day. Both great..... but not the same

    Wenger is an EPL great but let's stop with this BS he was hounded out of Arsenal. The guy had more than enough time to turn the club around but was only taking it backwards. It took Arteta years to clean up his mess. I love the guy but that doesn't mean I'm gonna forget what the reality is.

      He was kept there, it’s not his fault. He should’ve been sacked.

      He was hounded out of Arsenal? Banners around the ground, chants begging him to leave, AFTV throwing abuse and attacking him almost every video. That sounds like hounding to me. Maybe it was time to leave, but to treat their best ever asset like they did getting them a golden trophy, top four for essentially for 20 seasons and did that with almost 0 investment.

    • @adtastic1533
      @adtastic1533 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danielmarsh1376 Those banners only came out the last season. He'd been given 10 years to turn it around by that point. And money ain't everything, Wenger laid his fair share of eggs in the transfer market. I don't think you'll find any other club that would show more patience to a manager and that's precisely because he was so revered.

    Comparing any of these new managers to wenger and fergie is ridiculous. Fergie and wenger didn’t inherit the teams pep has, and sustained success better than pep and klopp with less money. And they actually played enjoyable football instead of playing percentage ball.

      Man Utd spent a lot of money in the 90s and early 00s. Inflation makes it seem like that’s not the case but it was. In todays money they certainly spent more than klopp at Liverpool.

      I’m a United fan and Fergie and Wenger are the goats, but come on. Pep Guardiola changed football and is a huge pioneer in why football is so attacking nowadays, Klopp isn’t there yet but his talent for management is obvious. To do what he did with the team he had shows his greatness

      Ferguson yes but Wenger for me was a failure after his first ten seasons..
      He spent 22 seasons to get three league wins and NOTHING in Europe. Despite having some of the best players of that era in Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires, van Persie, Ljungberg, Cole and a million others.

      Don't worry that's not the only bad take I've heard. Rants N Bants said KDB only has a few qualities and is very average, which is nonsense, he is a very complete midfielder and world class
