    I am a provisional videographer so, mostly good camera movement. Remember: Some times Slow is not slow enough. Know the opening shot, then transition, straight pan or zoom out & pan, to the next planed ending shot. Begin again: 1: Opening- 2: transition- 3: end, it's a plan, you did well, pleasure to see. wonderful music. Thanks.. R&M Video Services

    Amazing. Thanks for this great show. I saw Tippy's in there, are you from Jersey City NJ by any chance? That's where I was born and raised. NYC display's are fantastic!! I love all vintage Christmas. For years now I've been trying to acquire all the decorations from when I was young that my family had but disappeared somehow, plus some things I see from back in the day. Those big slot cars and track look great too. I had the small ones, never saw the big ones. Wow. Thanks again.

    The setup is great, replicas of Grand Central Terminal, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Ralphy’s House from a Christmas Story, replicas of the various cars, trucks ranging from the late 1930’s to the mid 1950’s. The trains both the Polar Express & the freight train as well as the passenger train in Blue & white cars which is my guess the Blue Comet that ran between the New York City area & Atlantic City in the 1920’s & early 1930’s.

    This was worth the wait! So many ideas! I look at a lot of TH-cam village videos and you and Pammyj100 are the tops. Your video quality and editing skills are awesome -- they make everything stand out. What is the "inflatable" in the yard at 4:31? Thanks for sharing.

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Jim, I am a fan of Pammyj100 as well. The inflatable at 4:31 is "The Snowman" porcelain figure from the 1982 BBC animated movie of the same name. The figure is produced by the British company Coalport.

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching E4 Adam. The piece at 4:30 is the Dept. 56 Snow Village "CLEARING THE DRIVEWAY AGAIN!" It's one of my favorites. I don't know the length of the village, I just made it long enough to accommodate what I was thinking. Just a guess, but probably around 30 feet.

    Wonderful Epic Christmas Village! I've watched your Epic Christmas Village videos many times. They are fabulous and definitely put one in the Christmas spirit! I'm inspired to make a Dickens Christmas Carol village. How did you create the base and hide the wires? Do you have your pieces on foam, styrofoam, or something else? It's truly magical!

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bonnie. I put 1/2 inch thick styrofoam insulation panels on the table surface and then carve channels for the wires into the styrofoam.

    Hello - wow really incredible.
    I want to set up the Chinatown portion of your village - I noticed that most of the pieces came from Dept 56, however can't find some of the others - especially the Wing Lee (?) Chinese Food, would you be able to provide a list of where all the buildings came from - Dept 56, LeMax and ?? And figurines Thanks so much for sharing.

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wing Lee's is a light sign by Miller Engineering attached to a D56 building. There is 1 Lemax building and 1 facade by King and Country. There are also a number of figures from King and Country. Everything else is from Department 56. Try a Google search for "King and Country Streets of Old Hong Kong". That should lead you in the right direction.

    Please, upload the 18 minute version! I would LOVE to see it, every little detail, nook, cranny, and piece you took so much care to build! This is a joy to watch, but went by much too quickly for me. I wanted to see more of your gondola and skiers, and a little slower pan across your buildings. I couldn't soak it in fast enough! I will be watching this (just like your others) many times. This was worth the wait! Thanks for sharing. I love visiting your world; fills me with the wonder and joy I felt as a little girl at Christmas. Every year, we went to a Christmas store in Austin that opened up only for the holidays. They had winter scenes with moving elves and deer (like you used to see in the mall), a train that ran the perimeter of the store, and a beautiful grand "dollhouse" whose chandeliers lit up and the little figures danced. It was pure magic. Your videos fill me with that magical feeling all over again, and it is a blessing. Thank you!

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yeah, on the 18 minute version, sorry to say that it's all on the "Cutting Room Floor". I will make a note for next year however, because I think you are absolutely correct on the full showing and especially slowing down the pan across the buildings. That was an especially difficult edit because I sped up that shot to balance the time/length. I think it was probably better left as originally shot. You've got a good eye! Thanks again.

    This was well worth the wait! You did fantastic on this newest version. What a lot of long work you put in to make this happen. I love it! I love how you put in different villages and I think I also caught the Beatles crossing the street. It looks like you can't go much taller, you're almost near the ceiling. One of the new things that I absolutely fell in love with was the train store with the train sets running in it. Is that Department 56 or is that Lionel? Hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's and I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Susan.You're correct about the Beatles crossing the road which was intended as a nod to the Beatles "Abbey Road" album cover. The train store was made by Lionel. I bought it used and when I put it in the Village it didn't work. After taking it apart to fix it I got the idea to video the store in place in the Village with and without it's walls and roof and fade them together. I'm glad you enjoyed the result. I guess it was a lucky break that I bought a defective train store. We definitely had a great Christmas and New Year's. I hope you did as well.

    So beautiful and sentimental is made me shed tears. It doesn't matter what year this was made, the video and village are so well done it is truly EPIC and timeless! So much detail, thought and work has gone into this I'm amazed. Not only that, but the filming was also professional. It was like watching a movie ( I watched all of the Epic Christmas Village videos ). I thank you for this special gift to the world! Please...never take these videos off of youtube. Not ever! God bless and Merry Christmas!

    Hi, I've commented before on your other videos, but I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos. Not only are your villages amazing and beautifully detailed, but I love that you also produce such a high quality video that shows all the details and gives your eye enough time to take it all in. I also notice that you take the time to answer comments. Thanks so much for that. I only wish I could still view epic village 1-3. God knows I watched them enough times when you made them that they ought to be etched in my memory forever, but they have faded away. Thanks for the inspiration. My 11 -Building village brings me great joy and I have had so many great ideas from your villages... Thanks so much for sharing them with the world!

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      My pleasure. For whatever reason, Epic Christmas Village 1-3 can only be viewed on a computer. They can't be played on an IPad. I think it has something to do with limitations on the music rights but I'm not really sure.

    I actually just tried watching II on a computer and it worked!! It must just not work on mobile devices (which Is all I use for browsing). Now I'm stoked to be able to review the previous villages next time I have access to a computer! Again, TFS!

      @TheBigCrabCake  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are awesome Karen! Thank you for supporting our channel. We made the plane fly with the help of some pretty cool editing software. In this case, we used Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. There was a steep learning curve but once we figured it out, it was fun to do. We used the same software to do the dance sequence at the end of the recent New Years Eve video th-cam.com/video/voVeidYwYGg/w-d-xo.html

    MARVELOUS! tracks animating figurines; realism of amrak train schedule and stardust theatre; oz's balloon recovered; marching military; always-that-one-neighbor's overkill xmas lights! frantic mom in yard over her boy falling off of that new bike, and those fabulous trains and Tour de France whizzing by! you even threw some Season's Bay in!
    watched to 'holly & ivy' instrumental jazz in ground [really in sync w/ video!] add bowl of popcorn...really enjoyable! BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY. thanks for sharing

      It is the MTH/Railking Dispatch Board. It is even more charming in person. I'm not sure how many feet of track are in the display but there are 9 different tracks and each has a unique design and distance.

    Hello I’m planing on a small simple village this year and I’m want to put a mth train set and a pair of crossing and I seen you have some in your village. I was just wondering were those hard to wire up? Thanks Daniel

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The crossing gates in my layouts have a little wiring involved but nothing too difficult. They came with instructions. There are also some "Plug and Play" crossong signals available as well from Lionel. I know that Star Hobby has some. (410) 349-4290 ask for Don.

    Hi. I'm a Village collector as well. Your Village is awesome. Would you be able to guide me as to where the Bicyclist came from. Thank you.

    • @TheBigCrabCake
      @TheBigCrabCake  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Cyclists were originally part of a French Board game but became popular as collector pieces on their own. They come in Plastic or Metal. Some have highly detailed paint work. Metal are significantly more expensive than Plastic but usually have more intricate paint schemes. They are mostly found in Europe but I have found many on eBay. Just make sure you do a "Worldwide" eBay search. Two other direct sellers with good quality figures are www.peloton.company/en/ and www.etsy.com/market/cycling_figures. Hope that helps.
