Heart of Sunflower is my favorite Dreamcatcher ballad. I don't listen to it very often because it's such a sad song. The thing that really gets me is when Yoohyeon sings the last line and you're expecting the final word to be 'joa' (it's ok) which would be a repeat of the previous line by Jiu. The word is not there. It's just an empty space, then the song ends. The person singing the song is so lost in their feelings for their departed love that they are willing to wait forever, just in the hope that their lover will return. It's not even necessary to say it. It's a given. Some people are made such that they can only love once in their lifetime, and that is truly heartbreaking.
Well, well, well. Hi there! Dreamcatcher are outdoing themselves here once again. Musically, the song is a fantastic journey. There actually are "cute" parts, but there also are parts where the guitars go full metal. The variations in BEcause remind me of their previous masterpiece, Deja Vu. The bridge with SuA's slow rap and Yoohyeon's backing vocals is possibly the most beautiful one they have ever done. About the meaning: According to Dami, BEcause is about love becoming obsession. And also, this is a stand-alone story. They go back to their horror roots, which I really enjoy. They noted that if you look at "BE" as a written Chinese character "悲“, that would mean "sadness". So the song title would mean "The Cause of Sadness". And that would make the lyric "because I like you" to maybe mean "the cause of sadness is I like you". The video picks up on that. JiU seems to be the puppet master here (or her doppelganger!). She is the one trapping the other members and turning them into puppets, but Gahyeon tries to escape (as you can see by her throwing off the cage right in the beginning). It seems JiU catches her again though, "because she likes her". And I didn't even touch on the references to the movie "Us" yet, there is so much going on. The lyrics are even creepier. SuA sings: "Your face turns blue, blue. Your expression is like ocean view.", hinting at strangulation due to the one being obsessed taking things way, way too far. Dreamcatcher are clearly not afraid to tackle the difficult subjects, and they do it masterfully here - again. For me, this is more than just pop, it is art.
This was their first release after I became an insomnia and it didn't disappoint. Because is one of my favorite title tracks by them and Whistle is one of my favorite B-Sides by them. Heart of a Sunflower was my favorite Ballad by them until Always came out. Alldaylong is also a great song (I love me some city pop). Airplane is the only song that i didn't love.
I'm right there with you. They just pour so much emotion into their performances. Yes, everything Kit does is fantastic. There's also some really good essay type videos about Dreamcatcher floating around on TH-cam if you'd be interested in that type of content.

The performance of Airplane during Primavera Sound was a fun one to watch when you have a chance. Really that whole performance was great to be honest. 😊And yeah, A Heart of Sunflower is just one of those songs that some days will catch you just right, and watching them singing it live can be that little extra bit to push you past the point of holding it in 😭

The most famous city pop song is Mariya Takeuchi’s Plastic Love ( th-cam.com/video/T_lC2O1oIew/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xqZpSw6AmGRSf7WG ), which suddenly exploded in popularity a few years ago, bringing the genre into the mainstream.
“Airplane” isn’t my thing either. Ok - well produced, well sung - but not my taste. Sorry. I like the rest better. And "BECause" and "Whistle" are great songs.
