The short term SMS stands for „Short message service“ and the worlds first text message ever was written on December 3rd 1992 by a Vodafone Engeneer named Neil Papworth. The message was sent to a colleague in the UK, who received it on his 4 pound Orbitel phone. Yep… 4 Pounds!
The Colleague was having the time of his life when he got this text that had only 15 characters. And it said: „Marry Christmas“ what a timing…
On December 21st 2021 this legendary text message was turned into an NFT and sold for 121.000 Dollars in an auction in Paris.
