- His Holiness the Dalai Lama's address at the inaugural event to mark year-long celebrations of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev at the Bhai Vir Singh Sahitya Sadan, New Delhi on November 10, 2018.
I am Indian Buddhist. I love both Buddhism and Sikhism. Unlike other religions, ours never forces others to convert.

I am a Pakistani Muslim. My mom's side is more post sikhist and she is into sufi meditation. my dad's side is more post buddhist and he is like a freudian semitic sunni buddha. I like monotheistic hanbali sufi meditation and Quranic outreach.

Wonderful to see this exchange between two religions. Some people might think why Dalai Lama is not talking much about Guru Nanak Dev ji's life ....yet if you see closely he is saying what we all need to hear in these times of communal disharmony. He is talking about world peace and how India is suited for being an example of religious diversity. Guru Nanak Dev ji had spread the same message...we are all one. Also Sikh Gurus never wanted their life stories or biographies to be part of teachings. That is why it is not part of Gurbani. They knew that stories are limited to a time period and do not offer complete truth, but Dharma teachings are timeless and thus only teachings should be focused on. It is good to remember history but more important is to follow teachings in our day to day life...Sikhism and Buddhism both are very practical religions. One is ancient and one is very young. Teachers of both religions have taught us to remove our ignorance and live a righteous life. Dalai Lama gave a message that is in tune with this...

Great thing about him is his openness and genuine feeling for other faiths apart from his own .Dalai Llama is a true spiritual leader ,even interacting with atheists ,non believers and having dialogues with world renowned scientists.He has a thirst for knowledge..He had a 5 day camp in Dharamshala early this year with scientists from all over the world, not to teach them his faith, but in order to learn from them( worth checking out its on You tube)
