Hey Lisa! Thank you for appreciating Mori's new single. This is her first co-written/co-produced English single and she really elevated original Filipino music with this and notice it has no whistles, not too many vocal breaks, or crazy belting. She's used the past 5 years or so to prove that she can sing better than most out there (globally). She's now trying to break into the mainstream commercial scene and that was the intent with this song. It is different, like you said, but this was made with specific purposes in mind. It's charting in over a dozen countries and hopefully will continue to rise in popularity. She has an album dropping in January I think.
Well...It was done in the middle of a little thing called COVID19, so ofc the Production will lack some amazing props that might have been otherwise avail. But considering the Cost it took to do it, the end Result was Spectacular. Dave's Cinematography skills shine here no question, I Personally am not a fan of the MIX,(but im 61)lol..and, I think in parts it overpowered her voice which should be a sin, but being the very first, Overall I give it a 9. Her Vocals are stand out if she sang Mary Had a Little Lamb, but the Whistle didn't belong in the message behind the lyrics, so, I disagree on that, not to mention she will sing this song 1000x's in the coming year, and that stress on her chords can be left at the door as far as Im concerned, Anyway, Thanks for the Review Lisa and Im sure we will be back here soon for her next Release "Coming Soon", GO MORI!!! Even though Morissette and Dave Lamar had their specific reasons for writing this song, as it relates to Mori and her father, the way that they wrote the lyrics was very smart, because they wrote them in a way that many people around the world can apply them to their own situation. I think it's a good modern sound for her, and the video did a good job of capturing the emotion of the song. I think we'll hear more whistle notes on future songs, but I'm guessing that they didn't think it was appropriate here because of what this song means to them. Dave Lamar was probably in charge of the video end of this, in addition to cowriting and coproducing this song with Mori.
Bittersweet ballad, highly personal to Mori but relatable to many listeners and fans. She is stepping up her game with original material following a huge catalog of incredible covers.
First of all Lisa, you are looking amazing, love the highlights and, your make-up really brings out your beauty.....even gives you , a Asian look , to me. Anywho.....Her "FIANCE" 💍 and co writer and producer of the song, also did the cinematography. Its a digital; letter to her estranged father, whom hasn't spoken with her since early 2019, so I think she left out the whistles and vocal breaks, to promote its seriousness. not every song needs a whistle, she can do that whistle easily, but that's how they made this song so special..
