A culinary masterpiece! Speaking seriously, it is my favourite Taito game on NES/Famicom due to its excellent control, light-hearted BGM and pretty whimsical enemies 😊
This is one of my favourite platformers for the Famicom/NES, though Taito's games from this point onwards are all at least good. Maybe if the American version didn't have the worst box art they could come up with it'd be better remembered 😖
This game would've been perfect as a rental. I never saw it available at any of my local video stores, though. Interesting how they changed the chef in the US version to be an old guy with a white beard. Chef Boyardee maybe?
Is this the best food-themed game on the system? Yes, yes it is. I like this one more than Pizza Pop. Too bad they translated the villain's name (Hors d'oeuvre) as Ohdove for the English version, Panic Restaurant; guess the translator didn't know French, understandably so. Also, I've always wondered why they changed the sprite of the main character the way they did. :P
wait this was a Kenji Eno game?! I never would have guessed. definitely did not get around to this one on NES, and by this point it'd probably either have to be chinese repro or a rom... seems a lot of fun, though!
I adore this game, and I have beat it... on my Everdrive. I just cannot afford the actual Famicom cart. Taito's obscenely low print run of their final Famicom (and even NES) games makes them far too frustrating for a little collector like me to get. This particular one is one I've always wanted to get, but never could.
