Here's a Neo Cortex theory: Originally, around the time of Crash 1 through 3, he was an Evil Scientist, but not insane. However, with each loss against Crash, his patience shrank and his anger grew. At the end of Crash 3, something snapped. Regardless of if you tangent off into Crash 4 or Wrath of Cortex, it's clear that he's achieved insanity. Before in his eyes, Crash was a simple failed experiment turned pest for him to manipulate and eventually eradicate. Now, Crash has become his obsession. With every failed attempt at destroying Crash once and for all, that obsession grows, and his plans for world domination grow more goofy and outlandish with time. This functions as a potential in-lore explanation for why Cortex seems so intimidating in the original trilogy, but devolves further and further into being a joke the further down the timeline you get. Crash has bested him so many times it's driven him bonkers.
That makes perfect sense. Cortex starts off rather brilliant and threatening, but every defeat pushes him closer to the brink of N. Sanity. That's my headcanon now.
It surprised me how well it all melded with the original song. I initially did it just for the guitar part in the chorus, but everything fell into place soon after.

FINALLY someone saw a connection between Toxic and Cortex's theme and put them together. I've been waiting for someone to do something like this for years, like even at least the guitar in Toxic being made to mimic Cortex's leitmotif would've sufficed but you made a whole freaking song parody out of this.
these parodies are so well put together they're genuinely enjoyable to listen to with the crash styled instrumental and the inflection in cortex's voice and the lyrics (to put you out of my misery is such a good line). i love how much you put into these little parodies it really shows through in the final product

This man sounds like he's one loss away from flipping all the tables. With his gun.
I love it how cortex built a death robot so powerful you eventually use it to defeat the main antagonists of the game but he still can't beat Crash XDD
