Peach Tree Grafting

  • The grafting of this peach tree was done because this tree is of a different variety that was accidentally planted in this orchard. @ 4:00 you can see the fruits on its original branch had not yet ripened when the rest of the orchard was harvested about a week earlier.

Great Video.....some people want their food served up to their mouth with a spoon but don’t want to do extra investigating...like the tar? ...they can do a search and the season?....well look at the plant ...you did a great video and nothing like learning by watching

Looks good. Will try it on a couple of really ugly apricot trees. Literature says it should take. bought a peach tree with a lot of branches from Walmart. Don't have wide tape but good enough to seal against the tar or wax. Here goes nothing. Have had limited luck with tar on apple but your setup looked really good.

Was that 1 year-old scion wood? The buds looked really swelled and were about to break I didn't know you could use scions at that advanced stage. What time of the season was it when you grafted? I was always told with peaches to bark graft when the leaves were emerged and temps averaged 75-80 degrees. It looked liked you did it much earlier than that. Were the scions just taken from another tree and immediately put on to the top worked one or were they harvested earlier and stored first? Anyway, great video.

Quick way to replace a peach variety you dont like. You can graft multiple varieties on same root stock.

The base tree was prolly a peach or some other stone fruit. If the previous tree was growing well it was because of its rootstock. So he cut the old limbs and grafted a new variety onto the rootstock. Grafting my friend, grafting.

He does this to show off . Doesn't explain anything step by step .
