Once you are done with the design, why not convert to path instead of boolean flatten? I'm not understanding the value of boolean flatten if you can still edit the design in other ways up until you convert to path.
Flatten will: - Turn stroked shapes into paths that outline the stroke - Automatically union the black shapes and subtract out the white shapes If instead you just did Convert to Paths, the Repeats and other modifiers would go away, but you'd like have stroked paths and a bunch of layers of black and white shapes.
