The ancient Chinese scale would almost only use 12356 (do re mi so la) five notes , without 47 (fa ti ) . And the melody of ice cream is almost just composed of those 5 notes, which makes it fit the scale and can be easily transformed into a very Chinese styled song :)

WHAT WENT DOWN DURING CHINESE NEW YEAR EDIT: I played this on the speakers when everyone was out in the living/dining room talking and snacking, the beginning chords of ice cream by blackpink have never sounded so sweet. Then my uncle picked up the speaker and did a little jig and said “is this Tibet music?” I maintained a straight face with considerable difficulty and said no it’s Chinese (but little did he know it was really Korean girl group pop). My grandma seemed 2 be enjoying it and said it was “nice to listen to” in Chinese!! My dad turned and said wow that’s a nice song and I replied yes....very oriental...my mom who was chatting w my aunt said it was too loud. Boooo 0/10. My 8 year old little cousins had to be prompted for their opinions and they said it was “boring. A normal song” but after I expressed great shock and disappointment they corrected their stance to “it’s ok.” All in all I would like to thank Blackpink and stantough for making the CNY tunes so lit this year and for educating my extended relatives on good taste.
