    @retroflashbackdude When we filmed this show Finders Keepers had not aired yet, so the first experience I had with how it worked was being on it. It was one of the very first episodes... And I got to go to Space Camp!!!

      I'm glad you got to go to Space Camp, that's awesome. I used to watch this and think it had one of the toughest bonus rounds in all the kids game shows I used to watch. It looked like kids had to look for needles in haystacks with not enough time and it looked impossible sometimes. There were 3 rooms left and you guys were pretty quick and efficient. They needed to put more time on that clock. I think they just didn't want anyone to win the whole thing lol

    Back in Nickelodeon's golden years. When their shows weren't all horrendous and extremely uneducational. In fact, they were not only great shows, but very educational. Even one of their classics-- You Can't Do That On Television-- was educational in a cryptic sort of way. Very interesting show.

    • @mattnatwhitt5082
      @mattnatwhitt5082 ปีที่แล้ว

      I disagree. MOST of there shows were never educational. That’s why I liked them. They were better than the ones today but they were never educational. In fact, the creator of You Can’t Do that on Television specifically made sure his show wasn’t educational because PBS and most other kids shows had that market tied up already.

    I haven't thought about this show in over 20 years. And as I'm sitting here in bed dozing off, a mental image of a kid searching through a room popped into my mind. I knew it had to be a Nickelodeon game show because they had a lot of shows with kids searching through junk. But this memory was specific. So I Google Nickelodeon 90s game shows and this pops up. Just marveling at the wonders of the internet, Nickelodeon in the 90s, and how memory works.

    How do taxes work for prizes on kids shows? Do the parents have to pay them? Or are they exempt? I ask because I know for adults, taxes must be paid before receiving the prizes. That's why a lot of prizes on The Price is Right are recycled, because a lot of people go broke just to travel there and stay for the duration of the show. Plus taxes in California are ludicrous.

    • @Kyouya_Yume
      @Kyouya_Yume 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah, the parents pay the taxes. But the producers uses cash instead of points to ease the amount of tax the parents have to pay. They don't want to see kids heartbroken when their parents can't pay for the prizes

    I very vaguely remember this show (I was maybe 5 years old?) But watching this now as an adult, I feel like 30 seconds was not enough time to find what they were looking for. 30 seconds to find a hacky sack in a room THAT detailed with stuff? I mean, come on. Or even the little clear plastic hippo on the top shelf, kids aren't going to look up for stuff at all, their focus is eye level or below.

    @Mr. matthew smith [& everybody else] here, yes, back on Thursday, January 14, 1988, this then-"Finders Keepers" game show had Mr. Wesley Eure as its previous host[though actually, his real last name's "Loper"] just as his former studio announcer there was Mr. John Harvey[though usually called only "Harvey"]!

    As a kid, my dream was to go on this show....or Double Dare. Either one worked. I miss those days 😁
