So what you’re seeing is the clinical manifestations: syncope, cyanosis, decrease in HR, etc. Are you asking for the pathophysiology behind them? This is a triggered reaction from the Vagus nerve (CN X) that tells the heart to decrease heart rate. When this occurs the HR can decrease so much that it may become arrhythmic or stop. Thus blood is not passing through the lungs to become oxygenated and oxygenated blood is not being sent to the brain, resulting in syncope and seizure.

pretty sure its not the very first time but the mom or who ever videoing could have put him to left lateral position and give him some support instead of staring at the child while he is struggling like a dead fish .
OMG. You should NEVER coddle a child doing this!! It encourages more of the same behavior. My husband is a pediatric doctor and sees this a lot. Spank him!

YOU WILL ONLY MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN GOD FORBID. Do you know how effing terrifying this is to go through? Imagine yourself exhaling and your body ceasing you from inhaling. This is an overreaction in the autonomic nervous system. Vasovagal related. In this video you cannot see inside of his body but i will tell you what's going on...his brain is signaled via the vagus nerve to slow down the heart, his heart than goes to bradycardia or even stops for a moment, loses consciousness because no oxygenated blood flow is going to the brain.... once this passes his heart re-starts or begins to beat normally. This is sometimes because the child already has bradycardia or a longer qt wave... never give advice like this to anyone. Ever again. This is not epileptic yet presents itself almost exactly like an epileptic seizure - therefore is INVOLUNTARY.
I agree with the other comments. You shouldn’t have children. This is completely involuntary. It’s an overstimulation of the vagal nerve. Also, way to be judgmental. Poor baby.
