For these models I found 'Tamiya Extra Thin Cement' to be fantastic. It bonds in seconds (like superglue) but when cured it's bond is super tough. So much so that I can even bend/straighten an Alien tail without it separating. The bond is stronger than the thinner tail itself. Look forward to seeing more vids. Most of the painter channels I follow focus on the Games Workshop stuff so delighted to see something different.
I used Tamiya Extra thin on these (the bodies) but the tails were such a bad fit that they wouldn't fuse properly with Tamiya. It was pretty annoying so I resorted to Super Glue.
@@spruegate8496 - That's interesting as I didn't have that issue and found they fit and bonded great. I did file the nub down a little on some tails to change their angle. Also the 4yo was using them as dinosaurs (without me knowing) and he wasn't too gentle with them and there was no breakages. I've mentioned to others how great Tamiya Extra Thin was for these. I best not be so bullish about the product going forward.
Tamiya is so much better than superglue I had no trouble just filled the tail sockets with it and added a load more to the join after it set. I think it actually melts the plastic slightly to provide a really tight seal but it is well and truly fixes now!
Those look great built up, had this set arrive a few days back and decided to tackle them in the same way I did the Halcyon model kit, with was exactly the same way you painted these. Are the warriors to scale with the Eggs as I fancy a little Dio with the eggs. Nice work mate.
I just stumbled onto this page and love the content! I'm now subscribed and can't wait to see more of your work. I might get this set and "melt" some areas of the bases to show xeno bloodspills. Take care, John.
Dont know if you guys gives a damn but if you are stoned like me atm you can stream all the new movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my gf for the last weeks :)
Wait, did you spray your Mansions of Madness box?! Drybrushing, so easy and effective it feels like cheating! These look great, fast paint job means they get to the table quicker! I'm trying to decide whether to hot water treat the tails and curl them inwards to add some variety and compactness. Looking forward to a play through of this on the other channel! Thanks for posting.
It's one of the many expansion boxes yes! Hot water treatment would be good on some of them especially - the long forizontal ones. It's also a lot of extra work so.. up to you!
Thank you for this tutorial. I'm going to use this on my xeno's. Quick question about shading. Does drakenhof nightshade work for creating a slight blueshade?
You sound just like the guy from The Players Aid! 😉 lol, sorry, I’m an idiot! Great videos! Can I ask what you use to edit your videos and other kit to make these great videos?? Thanks Alexander!😀
Would look a lot more atmospheric if the Aliens had, had a wash of Druchii Violet or Army Painter Purple Tone Ink (adds a slightly glossy finish in some cases which works well) before the drybrush but it does come down to personal taste

Tamiya extra thin has become my new go to glue the last few years as its just excellent.

I’m surprised you didn’t paint there teeth? Is that just you’re personal style or was the white too distracting on the black model

Still much prefer the game and models of AVP the hunt begins. Rules get a little granular. But is super fun and deep. Reminds me of necromunda.
Great job as always, almost perfect however the Aliens are a shiny, slimy -grey sliver? yours are too flat...:)
