Regarding the garment of the soldiers we do not really know, because the clothing of the Cohanim were Holy, made the Cohen Holy.
The soldiers of today are on a higher level because they are Angels, they come from a very high level of Kedusha therefore maybe even the clothing they are wearing are Holy.
