Yes, there was a Ford Puma in the late 90s. Yes, it was a two-door sporty little thing. No, this new Puma is not quite the same. But yes, there is some shared DNA. And something else, both are recipients of great acclaim and numerous awards.
The new car is based on the current Ford Fiesta, itself highly regarded not just for being Britain’s best-selling car, but also for just being a fantastic little runabout. The Puma of course is bigger - a compact crossover with SUV-like stance and capacity, yet promising the same level of nippiness the Fiesta boasts.

This vs. Ford Focus? And why?
Really tough choice. The last Focus I reviewed left me VERY impressed being a non ST etc. Though the Puma is newer, more charismatic-looking, and stands out way more than the Focus. A real quandary, but I think for the drive the Focus just edges it for me.
I have the same dilemma, gonna go crazy..

Check the residual values and you will see the Puma ST holds its value so well, you will pay a fraction per month vs. what the Focus will command. If it's the 1.0 Focus you are looking at, get the same engine in the Puma and you will be smiling come PX day.
