My issue with this track isn't "it's different". It's that it's a testament to how Sebastian Ingrosso, in comparison to his Swedish House Mafia peers, is paling as an artist. Steve Angello put out his album Wild Youth, an excellent blend of indie music and house, and is now going down the midtempo route, And his label SIZE puts out quality, unique music from all kinds of artists: Highly Sedated and their blend of spoken word with deep and tech house, Magic Sword and their 80's inspired synthwave... Meanwhile, Axwell isn't innovating as much, but he keeps on releasing quality house outside of his alias with Ingrosso, and his label, Axtone, is one of the best house labels out there. It stays true to itself by releasing only the highest quality music from the best artists, and while it doesn't shy away from going outside its boundaries, everything on it still feels "Axtone". Ingrosso and his label Refune have just opted to follow trends in EDM and making generic party music the crowds will eat up, unlike his peers who have stayed true to themselves as artists or stepped into new boundaries.
The thought of people dancing to this... Hang on sorry waving their phones about to this at festivals makes me cringe. Sebs early house stuff released on joia/Nero was incredible, he changed the kind of music he made in the SHM era which is okay, because even though the sound was different it was still of good quality. This isn't good quality, it doesn't matter if you like it or not it IS a bad song and producers who haven't followed the trends like sheep would be insulted that this is getting more play than their music because some of Seb's fans refuse to admit he's gone downhill.
I'm not even a huge Ingrosso fan, but I think he's gone more uphill in the bigroom industry. Besides, he's trying new stuff. He can go to progressive at any time.
He's become more popular amongst the mainstream meaning 15 year old girls. He hasn't become better, he's followed a trend that's why more people listen. He was higher rated back when he wasn't making this shit, even before SHM. Now he's an embarrassment
It was SICK dancing to this at Bravalla festival last weekend. It's great listening to it at home, but live? It was just fiiiiire. So, hang on to that thought of yours while the rest of us enjoy it. ;)
